## What is CardStar?

CardStar is a modern flash card app for iPhone, iPad and Apple Silicon Mac that helps you create and organize cards and study card sets your way. Create cards and organize them into separate card sets for different topics, subjects or projects. Use CardStar for learning, revision, languages, facts, reference collections and much more.

CardStar also includes powerful quiz features and on-device AI card generation on devices with Apple Intelligence enabled. Generate complete study sets from your own prompt, review the results and save them as a new card set. Whether you want to build your own study system manually or speed things up with AI, CardStar gives you a flexible way to manage and practice your cards across your devices.

A new startup screen lets you quickly continue your last set, open another set or create cards manually, with AI or from a guided template. Improved AI generation reliability, prompts, templates and previews. Reorder cards using drag and drop and improved search with highlighted matches and easier keyboard dismissal. Enhanced sorting and cleaner card-title printouts. Updated navigation, help content and numerous usability improvements and fixes.

This update includes general improvements and bug fixes to make CardStar more reliable and enjoyable to use.

Added the option to change your preferred appearance, so you can use CardStar in system, light or dark mode.

### 3.4 — 2026-06-20

Added a clearer “no card sets” start state with a direct option to create your first card set. Card sets can now all be deleted if you want to start fresh. Multiple Choice quiz mode is part of CardStar Pro as it includes scored sessions, progress tracking and focused review tools. The free AI card set trial is limited to one generation, with Pro unlocking unlimited AI generation. The update also includes general polish and reliability improvements.

Added Card Set templates for CardStar Pro, including vocabulary, definitions, exam questions, language learning, formulas and interview prep. Templates now pre-fill AI card generation with useful title and content guidance.
