### 3/5 — Informative but Bootcamp heavy

*2023-04-05*

I listen to the recordings as I find the interviews very informative. My only critique is that they are Bootcamp heavy. There is very little to no information regarding certifications that I can see. You will have to look elsewhere for details and evaluations about certifications.

### 2/5 — Unprofessional Callers

*2022-07-20, version 5.7*

Someone from Career Karma called me today and I was actually excited. I let the Casper know that I was currently in class and before I could ask if she could call me back, she hung up in my face. Do better..,

### 5/5 — Career Karma

*2022-01-06, version 4.14.0*

This is actually a really great app. I’m super into it.

### 5/5 — Motivation and Community

*2022-01-06, version 4.14.0*

This company is great but love the community and the live calls you can hop on and ask anything about your journey or other’s journey. It helps to keep you motivated and the community is there for you so that you are not alone.

### 5/5 — Not bad, just a lot to digest

*2021-12-27, version 4.13.0*

Career, is not bad overall he just has a lot of occasions and attributes that he will take time for you to digest but on a sidenote just take your time with it

### 5/5 — Must have app for new IT

### 5/5 — Device EcoSystem & Softwares Plans based upon Careers!

### 5/5 — Wonderful immersive career coaching experience!

*2021-11-25, version 3.43.0*

This is definitely one of my favorite apps, services, and platforms of all time. What an amazing team!

### 2/5 — Big Yikes.

*2021-11-03, version 3.40.0*

Let’s start off by saying that this isn’t the most horrible app I’ve encountered but don’t be fooled by the “you’ll never pay a dime” gimmick. There is a wide network of people which is great and what they are referring to, other than that, they expect you to sign up for a boot camp that costs anywhere from 15k to 25k. Also. Be prepped to get about 10 emails a day from them, 25-50 messages, and constant pushing into a “coaching session” which is just trying to push you into paying 15k for a boot camp.

### 5/5 — True

*2021-10-07, version 3.36.0*

This app legit changed the course of my life. From the people I’ve met, to the guidance received. Now I’m in school for software engineering.

### 5/5 — Community

*2021-09-30, version 3.33.0*

I here uplifting messages about the joy of going into tech and there are all these people to answer any questions you have and keep in touch with you to know where you are at in any stage you are.

### 5/5 — I’ve had this app for over a month….

*2021-09-10, version 3.28.0*

and finally decided to check out one of the classes for beginners, I listened for about 15min and got a lot of guidance on what to do and how to find out what I’m good at. I’m 41 and disabled. Trying to start a new career in tech. When I was in school the only thing taught about computers was how to type. I hope to be a success story for Career Builders.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — none of the links work

*2023-02-20, version 5.18*

literally everything that you click gives an error, whether it's applying for a bootcamp or requesting a coaching call.

### 1/5 — Phone spamming

*2022-03-06, version 4.28.0*

They keep calling me for some unknown reason, long after I stopped using the app

### 1/5 — Spamy Phone Calls From Multi Numbers

*2022-02-24, version 4.28.0*

I started receiving very spamy phone calls from people claiming to be from career karma, shortly after downloading the app and registering for an account. The app asks for a phone number when registering, but the app dose not say or ask permission to use the phone number provided to contact me via phone call. Inside the settings of the app, there is no contact/privacy settings where you can choose an option to have your information kept private/not shared/not contacted by some call center. Said Call center is definitely not in America either, I'd say India based off the accents of every person From credit karma that has call me. the app also dose not provide any options to remove or change your phone number at all. I find this all to be very odd and a bit shady. App has great reviews but I just can't be OK with the lack of privacy and lack of my choices on being contact. 0 stars.

### 1/5 — Spam generator

*2022-02-06, version 4.21.0*

Downloaded the app after hearing about it on a podcast and within one hour I received countless emails, phone calls, and text messages from this company.

### 1/5 — Great way to increase your spam calls!

*2022-01-17, version 4.16.0*

It doesn’t ask if you want to be called & texted it asks for your number as if it is for verification and then they start called and texting. The app-user is the product and the bootcamps are the customers. Emails never stop, can’t unsubscribe. I can only assume positive reviews are fake considering their other unethical practices

### 1/5 — Bad

*2021-12-16, version 4.8.0*

To unsubscribe to emails you have to download the app? Sad and desperate….

### 1/5 — Too many phone calls and texts

*2021-10-27, version 3.38.0*

I liked the idea of this app but I couldn’t even get started. I was bombarded with texts AND phone calls that annoyed me enough to just delete my account. Are you guys working with the extended auto warranty people? That’s how it feels.

### 1/5 — They make 10% to place you in a boot camp

*2021-10-03, version 3.35.0*

This app is TRASH!! Here is how it works. If you do you research you’ll see that this “company” gets a cut from “placing” you into a boot camp.

“Currently, Career Karma only makes money one way: it charges a fee to bootcamps when it successfully places a student in one of their programs. The fee is usually 10% of a placed-student’s tuition, which could range from $10,000 to $50,000, Harris says. It’s worth noting that a school pays Career Karma up front no matter what financing option the student chooses, taking money out of their marketing or admissions budgets.”

Stay away these folks are deceitful and don’t disclose that they get a cut from placing you in a boot camp. How’s this not a conflict of interest!?

### 1/5 — Need more resources for Self Taught Developers

*2021-08-02, version 2.84*

The site is pretty awesome. Just wish there were more resources for the path less traveled. Maybe a 21 day challenge for those not attending boot camps. Tips on how to get all of the things that you don’t have when you don’t/can’t go to a bootcamp.
Update***
Bugs! Bugs everywhere can’t even use the community part of the app!!

### 1/5 — Will harass you!

*2021-07-19, version 2.81*

Proceed cautiously!
I read about this app online and then saw it has 4.8 stars on the app store so figured I'd give it a try. My situation is I attended a bootcamp already and completed it. Yet I want to add to my skills so am currently attending other online classes.
I felt this will help me connect with others and help me further my education and get a job in the tech field. WRONG!
The app requires you to give your phone number. Soon as I completed the signup I'm thrown into a chat room. I was not ready for this and was on break at work and that was a bad time for this.
Within about 10 minutes after I was off break I get a text from Career Karma asking me questions. I was at work, I ignored it figuring I can write back after work. Yet within 5 mins of not answering the person simply responds with "?" which is clearly rude and telling me he is ready for my answer. I let it slide though and corresponded and answered a few questions since I had time. I figured then he'd leave me alone.
Well then the calls started. I didn't answer due to being at work but I googled this phone number that kept calling me to find out it's Credit Karma. If they wanted to talk that bad all they had to do is leave a voicemail and I would have called back when I had time. Yet just calilng over and over (which they did) and not leaving a voicemail is rude. I'm sure they felt I may not return a voicemail so was hoping to catch me off guard and have me answer the phone.
Then the weekend came. My wife and I have a baby and rarely get time for ourselves. We had a family member come to watch our baby this weekend so we could go away. Well little did I realize both Saturday and Sunday I'd be harrassed with phone calls again. One time I did answer and when the lady said she's from Career Karma I told her she has the wrong number hoping it would stop.
I also got many emails during this 3 day period. I know there are chat sessions throughout the day. I kept getting notices of being invited or that I was added to them. Yet these were during my work hours or either when I was spending time with my family. I don't need to be invited. The schedule is there to see. I can manage my time and know what I can and cannot attend and I don't need someone else to decide my schedule.
I have time in my life to take classes and get a new job. Yet what I don't have time for is this. I am a good self starter and motivated. I don't need to be harrassed and micro-managed. All this will do is slow down my progress greatly! As others suggested in reviews it's best to remove your account. What I find odd is I tried to delete it both on my phone and tablet and it came back saying there was an error. Odd since the app worked fine so clearly they don't want you to delete. I still removed the app from each. Fortunately when I deleted my account on the website it worked.
As someone suggested I believe the good reviews were left by Credit Karma and that is why the reviews are so good. As well I see Credit Karma actually responds to some saying that a lot of their clients love the followups and communication, that is why they do it. Yet I don't feel anyone truly likes it and that is just them justifying this behavior.
Now that the account is deleted I just hope the harrassment is over. I don't know why someone thinks they need to treat someone like this. I would have loved this system. It was the harrassment that turned me totlaly against this place!

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — A good way to get started

*2022-05-06, version 4.41*

I have checked out this app and it helped me a lot to know more about my options on how I can break in to tech. They are not a bootcamp but they helped me know more about them and gave me free learning resources and information about what a bootcamp is and what the different tech careers are together with free prep courses to help me know if software engineering is right for me 👍👍 Thank you 🙏

### 5/5 — Learn, network, GROW!

*2022-04-28, version 4.39*

I have had nothing but excellent, positive experiences on Career Karma. A lot of people are saying they push bootcamps, but there are TONS of people on there who are doing self-directed learning and swapping ideas for how to build skills for free. I got a free laptop from them so that I could continue my studies. I’ve met recruiters and people working in jobs/fields I want to pursue who have shared really helpful information. I would highly recommend checking out the website and app. As with all social media, it’s important to keep a healthy dose of caution when exchanging information and it’s wise to be wary of people who don’t have links to other social media sites to verify their legitimacy. If you want to learn and get ideas, it’s a good place to start!!

### 5/5 — They’re dope.

*2022-04-25, version 4.39*

They’re dope.

### 5/5 — I already love it!

*2022-03-22, version 4.32.0*

This app makes it so easy to connect with imperative information for my adventure into the tech world. I downloaded it yesterday and I’ve already attended a lecture and made a connection. Kudos to whomever designed this. It’s spot on greatness!

### 5/5 — Really Powerful

*2022-03-11, version 4.29.0*

The app keeps you involved. It has so much great information for your tech journey. It doesn’t feel like an app with the live groups, feedback you get and interactions. I definitely feel like they want me to win.

### 5/5 — Good job👍

*2022-02-21, version 4.28.0*

Great platform to be identified with!
