Keeps coming up with no awnings found after correctly putting the awning into Bluetooth discoverable mode. I got it to connect once, asked to update firmware and froze up. Never could connect again. The update stopped at 23%, turned the lights on and then disabled everything to do with the awning. I can’t more then awning in or out and can’t turn the lights off. The buttons on the inside of the RV no longer work either. Not sure what to do, kinda stuck. Worked great up till this point. Now It’s dead. ### 1/5 — Used to work *2022-08-22, version 2.0.17* Why oh why doesn’t this app work? Very sad that the carefree folks don’t keep up with product updates. In this day, app updates are important not only for security but for safety. Please update. ### 1/5 — Zero stars if I could. *2022-07-31, version 2.0.17* After months of no connection the app update now lets it connect! However, on ios14 with iphone 11 I can no longer close the app(by swiping up) without it causing the awning to retract. After a while, something causes the app to think I’ve turn off the light. The only workaround is to completely crash close the app to stop it randomly doing stuff. No longer trust it. Update 1 year later. Never and support from Carefree. No help at all. The app is still rubbish with the fine adjustments available sometimes and not others. After repeated attempts at deleting/reloading the app, it now doesn’t even connect to our awning. One time when we went away the app wouldn’t work, and the awning lights were stuck on a minimum intensity (ie. not visible). Now the fails to detect our awning, so the light position and intensity can’t be adjusted. This feature has been mysteriously removed. Called the support line, waited for a very very long time as usual, only to be told "we are working on it". No app updates in over 2 months. How hard can it be to put a feature back that you already had code and support for? Worked right away. Connects fast and can operate awning. Have no idea what the bottom two icons do. Normally undo last action or redo last action. But that makes no sense/ So far so good. ### 4/5 — It works! *2024-08-17, version 2.4.5* Just tried the app on an iPhone 15pro and it works fine. It remembers the last setting when you extract. It also has micro adjustment buttons so I can get my side antiflap poles into the holes in the boom. The led dim function doesn’t seem to work though hence 4 stars. ### 4/5 — Carefree BT app *2022-09-25* Awesome app. I’d give it a 5 star rating if the screen background wasn’t the same colour as the lettering in the Retract/Extend fields. It’s too dark to read, doesn’t change to a yellow font until you select an option. ### 4/5 — Not fit for service-update on earlier review *2020-10-12, version 2.0.15* The latest update resolved the issues I was having with the display in my iPhone 11 Pro. It’s a wee bit finicky when it comes to pairing mode for the awning. On the third attempt I was able to pair and it’s now working fine. After retracting (the third tome) I paused for about 10-ish seconds (I counted 1 Mississippi ...) and hit retract (counted to 3). And voila it appeared on my phone! After pairing, the app is working great. The settings I added from a different phone are there and it does exactly what you would expect. Thanks for the fix! 👍🏻 Original review- I have iPhone 11 Pro. For the life of me can’t get this to pair with the awning. Tried a different iPhone and worked without issue? So is it my phone? The icons in the top left and too right corners are nonresponsive. Many have tried all have failed. I have powered off and on my phone to no avail. ### 3/5 — App need further updates *2022-12-01, version 2.2.6* The awning and Bluetooth concept is excellent, however the app needs updates especially for iPhones. There’s a couple of bugs that need addressing as soon as possible: 1/ iPhones with no home button (iPhone 13 and 14pros ect) - when you swipe up from the bottom of the screen to either close the carefree app or open another app, where you press to swipe up will activate that function. For example every time I swipe from the bottom and towards the left, the awning will retract, if I swipe from the bottom towards the right the awning will extend. This second point leads onto the next bug: 2/ even if the awning is fully extended, if you hit the extend button (either purposely or when closing the app) the awning will continue to extend beyond its lockout, the motor will only stop because it doesn’t have enough torque to rip the awning off the wall. This is a big bug and needs to be fixed ASAP. It happens with multiple awnings and controllers so it’s a bug not a malfunction of the unit. The above really needs to be fixed via an app update and when it does the whole thing will get 5 stars!! ### 3/5 — Not very friendly *2021-12-16, version 2.0.17* Although the App is easy enough to use, some of the on screen buttons need attention. Once you have extended the awning and go to close the App, it starts to retract it, I have to click the top left menu so another window is on top of the main control then I can slide out of the App. Seems that I have to scroll the screen to access the nudge buttons. Not difficult to do a UI and test it. Look forward to an update. ### 3/5 — App works….Till you need another app..?? *2021-05-25, version 2.0.17* When swiping up to close or change to another app the app thinks you want to extend your awning. If it’s already at full extension, it will keep pulling till it detects the excess tension. Then stop. When rolling up your awning when the wind suddenly picks up, trying to close the app will trigger the auto extension. Putting the awning back out in the wind you were trying to avoid. Luckily I’m tall and was able to grab the awning before the wind could flip it and rip it off the rv. This app will and probably already has destroyed awnings. It’s such a bad glitch it has to be on purpose. ### 3/5 — Not working *2020-11-09, version 2.0.15* The app had worked the last time used, July 2020 but when trying to uses in October 2020 it did not.
