### 4/5 — Excelente aplicação.

*2026-08-19*

Aplicativo muito bom, sugestão: se for possível uma nova versão, com mais modificações em veículos com PQ25 do grupo WV, exemplo gol a partir de 2018.

### 3/5 — Expensive

*2026-08-16, version 9.9.0*

After purchasing the scanner, you still need to pay 20/month to use the function

### 4/5 — Ok

*2026-08-09, version 9.9.0*

Să vedem mai departe cu programu cumpărat

### 2/5 — Major increases in subscription pricing.

*2026-07-21*

Even though their own website FAQ says you can purchase a 1-month subscription for $14.99, there is no longer any option to buy that term. Instead, you must pay for an expensive full year, or an in-app single month of use priced at $29.99 — a 100% price increase. The software is nearly useless without a subscription. Other apps offer comparable functionality at much less cost. Too bad that Carista let greed ruin their excellent product.

**Developer response:** Thanks for your feedback, and we apologize for any confusion! The monthly subscription isn't priced at $14.99, and there hasn't been a 100% increase. We can confirm the prices shown in the app and FAQ are the correct, current ones. Please reach out at support@carista.com so our team can clarify the pricing for you, including any differences based on your market's currency, as prices can vary between regions such as the US and Canada. Our pricing reflects ongoing development, new features, and expanded car support, and basic OBD2 features remain free, so you only pay for what you need. Many of our users find that Carista saves them time and money over trips to the dealership.

### 2/5 — Does not pull up Chassis and Engine customization on Grand Highlander Hybrid with JBL

*2026-07-19, version 9.8.7*

The app does see many features in my 2026 Toyota Grand Highlander Hybrid Limited. The Carista website claims app will be able to defeat engine noise (ESR) and noise cancellation (ANC), but it did not pull these up. I then bought the subscription thinking that’s why, but no. So careful with your money, their list of supported vehicles and customization claims might be incorrect and Apple Store wills reject refund requests.

### 3/5 — Only runs when connected to internet

*2026-07-02, version 9.8.7*

The software works well and is easy to use. But if you're outside cellular data or WiFi range, it doesn't work. Very bad for overloading. Implement standalone functionality for reading & resetting fault codes, 3 stars would be 5

### 1/5 — Subscription fee to high for year

*2026-06-29, version 9.8.6*

Remember to set to not auto renew

### 2/5 — Keep raising the subscription prices

*2026-06-28, version 9.8.6*

20 dollars for one month…

### 2/5 — Disappointed

*2026-06-25, version 9.8.6*

This was a waste of money. Although it promises great hidden features for your car, be careful. Make sure your car can do what they promise. Mine did not. I was expecting to code 5 features that they said my car had. Only one worked.

### 1/5 — Theft

*2026-06-22, version 9.8.6*

After you buy the hardware you have to buy a subscription to use it. No good.

### 2/5 — Very confused - what the ?!

*2026-06-20*

I bought the scanner 3 yrs ago, worked well, price was reasonable. I want to renew and use it again to check a few things.
The prices are now $75 for a year or $30/month lol
Ridiculous !
Will be requesting a refund.
The scanner is now useless
Very disappointing

**Developer response:** Thank you for your review, and we're sorry to hear that. Our pricing is part of our ongoing commitment to improving the app. By adjusting our prices, we're able to introduce new features, expand car model support, provide regular updates, and offer better support to our users.
If there's anything we can help with, please reach out to us at support@carista.com

### 1/5 — Баг

*2026-06-17, version 9.8.6*

После подключения к OBD сканеру перестало откликаться приложение, ничего нельзя нажать, перезапуск не помогает.

### 1/5 — Junk

*2026-06-13, version 9.8.6*

Claims it does all these things but after you purchase the actual thing you have to purchase their outrageously priced app. Then when it doesn’t work because they claim it only works with certain vehicles they won’t refund your money because they are out of the states.

### 1/5 — Don’t be fooled

*2026-06-12, version 9.8.6*

Save your money. Buying this app is just the beginning. In most cases to use any of the features you have to buy their OBD tool. And even it’s highly likely you still won’t be able to access the advertised features. What they don’t disclose is that even tho your vehicle may be listed along with the features it’s supposed to have it’s highly unlikely it will work. It’s laughable to read the developers response to reviews about people should just contact them. Been there done that. Their typical response is auto makers have various versions of their software so not all features may work. Thanks for paying us you fools. Total lack of full disclosure. Buyer beware

### 1/5 — Fails to clear codes

*2026-06-09, version 9.8.4*

Paid full version, waste of money basic check engine lights fail to clear or reset.

### 1/5 — Does not do what I need it to do.

*2026-05-31, version 9.8.4*

Does not have the settings I need.

### 4/5 — 2011 Ford focus 1.6tdci mk2.5

*2026-05-28, version 9.8.4*

You can not do dpf static re-gen or any other services listed on there app page. Car must be too old. Wish I had of know before spending the money.

### 1/5 — Price to features

*2026-05-27, version 9.8.4*

60 bucks a year got basic diag and 2 to 3 bells and whistles. No monthly options so they can squeeze you every year rather than letting you pay 10 bucks for a month when you actually need to use it. Tossing this thing.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Dont get this scanner

*2026-08-18, version 9.9.0*

Need subscription to do anything at all

### 1/5 — EVO scanner “bricked”

*2026-08-05*

Told via app to update to latest version to carry on using. Scanner no longer works!! Will not connect to app anymore. Support absolutely useless.

UPDATE. 05 Aug 2026
After receiving a response (and after spending the last week back and forth with “support”) I received the instructions on how to “reset” the EVO module. A further 2 hours and no further on, will not connect and carry out firmware reset/update. As said, the module is bricked following previous update!! Send me a return envelope and you can have it back to fix at your leisure, it’s of no use to me.

**Developer response:** Thanks for your review, and we're sorry for the frustration! Your EVO isn't bricked. This happens when a firmware update gets interrupted, usually by a Bluetooth disconnection while it's running. The good news is our support team has a fix: a manual firmware restore through our beta app that gets the scanner working again. Please reach out once more at support@carista.com and we'll send you the full step-by-step instructions to get you back up and running.

### 1/5 — No Honda?

*2026-07-28*

Honda not supported 😨

**Developer response:** Thanks for your review! While Honda isn't listed on our website yet, we've started supporting advanced diagnostics for some Honda models in the beta version of our app. We'd love for you to try it out and share your feedback, as it genuinely helps us expand Honda coverage. Here's how to join the beta: https://help.caristaapp.com/hc/articles/360009767900-How-do-I-get-in-the-beta. Any questions? Reach us at support@carista.com.

### 1/5 — In Russia, with love.❤️

*2026-07-23, version 9.9.0*

Привет пиндосы, Вы зачем спрятали приложение для России?

### 1/5 — New version breaking compatibility

*2026-07-20, version 9.9.0*

I have been using the app to reset the tire pressure sensors of my 2017 Rav4 with the OBD Link MX+ OBD scanner. Unfortunately a Carista app update broke the functionality and Carista support refuses to address the issue, with their resolution being using a different device or downgrading firmware which is a no go for me as I use the device with other vehicles requiring latest firmware. Breaking functionality on devices to favor their own is despicable.

### 1/5 — Don’t be fooled

*2026-07-20, version 9.9.0*

Save your money. Buying this app is just the beginning. In most cases to use any of the features you have to buy their OBD tool. ### 1/5 — App doesn’t even work right

*2026-07-19*

I’ve never written an App Store review before, but this has been the worst app experience I’ve ever had. I paid for the subscription, yet the app never worked properly. I contacted customer support twice and received no meaningful help. At this point I genuinely feel like I wasted my money. If you’re looking for a coding app I’d recommend choosing a different one because this one has been nothing but frustrating.

**Developer response:** Thanks for your review, and we're sorry for the frustration! This isn't the experience we want you to have. We'd really like to make this right, so please reach out once more at support@carista.com and we'll do our best to get everything working for you.

### 1/5 — Doubled monthly price

*2026-07-12, version 9.8.7*

Greed like this pisses me off. I am willing to pay $10 for the one month subscription so I can reset my service light after an oil change. Now doubling that just to try to push people into paying the yearly subscription that I have no need for is really lame. Makes me more likely to buy a knock off ODB tool instead.

### 1/5 — Not impressed

*2026-06-29, version 9.8.6*

Carista has dropped support for iOS 15. No work around, I feel this should now be refunded, also the app has no actuation features

### 1/5 — Pure Money Grab

*2026-06-29, version 9.8.6*

I have no idea if the 40 dollar reader works, because I would have to pay another 100 dollars for a subscription to actually read any of the codes. This is the textbook definition of an untrustworthy scam. Just save yourself the trouble and buy a real tool for the store.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Toyota Tundra

*2026-08-14*

Took my Tundra to 2 different dealerships after my key fobs lock/unlock/panic/ remote start buttons stopped functioning after a settings change in the vehicle’s customization menu. Both dealerships said they never heard of it. After some research I found some other owners had the same issue and bought this scan tool to fix it. Took me 5 minutes including reading the instructions and my truck was back to normal including the remote start!

**Developer response:** Thank you for your review, and we're so glad to hear Carista helped get your Tundra's key fob functions back to normal, remote start included!

Stories like yours are exactly why we do what we do.

### 5/5 — Class

*2026-06-05, version 9.8.4*

All I can say is it’s first class and a brilliant piece of kit

### 5/5 — Works Well (2014 Audi A3)

*2026-05-21*

I was a bit dubious after reading the mixed reviews but can confirm it works for my 2014 Audi A3 without issues. Recoded my new battery quickly, disables stop/start on ignition and triggers DPF regen on command. Haven’t tried all the features as I’m not sure if they’d affect my insurance or warranty, but I’ve no reason to doubt they would work properly.

My only gripe is that the app is bit of a battery sapper, my phone dropped about 15% in around 10-15 minutes. But other than that I’d say it’s worth the £42 for a year just for what I’ve got out of it so far.

**Developer response:** Thank you for your review and for trusting Carista! We are glad the features are working well for your Audi. We appreciate your feedback. We are always working on improving ourselves to meet your expectations.

### 5/5 — It’s amazing but…

*2026-04-19*

Carista is amazing, i’ve had it for ages and it does everything it says it does. Now this is no fault of carista but i just want SFD2 unlock, maybe some more info or timescale. I currently have a 2024 Seat Arona FR and i can’t do anything with the scanner which is the only problem other than that genuinely best thing you can buy for your car

**Developer response:** Thank you so much for taking the time to share your feedback with us! We wanted to let you know that our team is actively working on supporting the SFD2 unlock, and we expect it to be ready very soon. In the meantime, we do have advanced diagnostics available right now in our beta version.

If you would like to get early access and test these advanced diagnostics out, we would love to have you. You can find instructions on how to join the beta program right here: https://help.caristaapp.com/hc/articles/360009767900-How-do-I-get-in-the-beta

### 5/5 — Good software

*2026-03-28, version 9.8*

Please add option to permanent switch off bang bang bang by RSA at Toyota :)

### 5/5 — Kann viel

*2026-02-19*

### 5/5 — Great tool

*2026-02-18, version 9.7*

It’s a great tool that works. The cost is a little bit much but will only pay when I need it is my thinking. I was able to easily customize my 4Runner functions I wanted to modify. I connected to a Veepeak OBD unit and it worked great with this app as the interface. Best of both worlds I think…

### 5/5 — Easy to use

*2026-02-10, version 9.7*

Plug and play

### 5/5 — Fantastic Tool, but

*2026-01-25*

From my experience using app and its corresponding scanner on my Lexus GS 2013, I have only good to say.
ONLY ONE NEGATIVE: Pricing for the app. I got it in 2015, when the one-“""time fee was available…$40 IIRC. I thought it a bit high, but it all worked well, so I just bit the bullet…and I’m glad I did.
I traded in that car on a 2025 Lexus RX450h+ plugin hybrid back in December, so I once again had need to use it to customize the vehicle settings. All went well, without a hitch.

You may want to rethink your business model.I suspect most of your customers are using it for a single car or perhaps two cars and a monthly subscription for something that is used once, and rarely after,it’s hard to justify. Unfortunately for this customer it amounts to subscribing for one month, getting done with all the customization in that month, and then subscribing for a month whenever you want to use it again. I can see doing that, if you got another car, but if it’s the same VIN, many people will just say NO, and those who reluctantly say YES, will leave with a bad taste for your company and product.
AT A MINIMUM, I URGE YOU TO PRICE ON A PER VEHICLE BASIS, for a reasonable flat fee, and perhaps a discounted extra fee to add another VIN.

**Developer response:** Thanks for the feedback. We’re really glad to hear that Carista served you well with your previous Lexus and that you’re back with us for your new RX450h+. We truly appreciate your suggestion about our pricing model. We understand that for drivers who use Carista occasionally or for a single car, a subscription may not feel like the best fit. Our goal has always been to offer powerful tools at a fair value, and finding the right balance between sustainability and flexibility is something we continue to evaluate closely. We'll consider your suggestion for future updates and improvements. In the meantime, our monthly subscription remains the most flexible option for users who just want to do occasional customization or diagnostics, and we’re here to help make that experience as smooth as possible. Thank you!

### 5/5 — Brilliant bit of kit

*2025-12-13, version 9.6.2*

I used the Carista evo scanner to do a lot of things to my scirocco works like a treat. Might even consider joining the beta testing
