Our group was picked up in a vehicle that was not adequately prepared for 3 passengers as requested. The front passenger seat was filled with the driver’s personal belongings, forcing all of us to squeeze in to the back seat, which was extremely uncomfortable. At no point did the driver offer to clear the front seat to provide more space. ### 3/5 — Works but frustrating *2025-11-14, version 3.17* Doesn’t keep the most common trips in the favorites, but saves multiple versions of certain trips. Can’t change fields at times, and often have to start over to get either the pick up or drop off correct. Case in point - ‘oh, we are tracking your flight and will have a driver ready.’ Driver admitted they tell customers that but never do. After I called twice to complain about no driver, the Carmel rep lied again and said ‘driver is on his way & will be there in 5 minutes.’ My driver wan’t even contacted until well after she said that. Their drivers are not to blame - the idiots handling the business are. Take a taxi or Uber and save yourself the headache! ### 1/5 — If you are Handicap, THEY WILL TURN YOU AWAY! *2025-06-17, version 3.16* This is the SECOND time this has happened to me. They don’t have a specification for walkers or wheelchairs in the app. So when I order I put how many luggage’s I have and how many people. They will come and see my grandmothers walker and deny the ride. This time one of their drivers was VERY disrespectful. They told me they didn’t have any more cars so I informed them to cancel it. At first they refused to refund me until I informed them denying someone who is handicap is against ADA. Twenty minutes before the scheduled pick up time, I received a phone call canceling my scheduled trip due to a shortage of drivers. Totally unacceptable and unprofessional. After spending 25 minutes on hold trying to reach them, they canceled the reservation just 10 minutes before they were scheduled to arrive—without even giving us the courtesy of a phone call. No explanation, no apology, just a last-minute cancellation that left us scrambling. This level of unprofessionalism is unacceptable. I would not recommend this company to anyone counting on reliable transportation. ### 1/5 — Cars and drivers are slobs *2025-04-12, version 3.16* I am from Florida and used this company in NYC 17 years ago and held onto their number for future use. 17 years later I returned back to NYC for a girls trip and booked with them for pick up 4/4 from LGA There were 4 of us with 3 suitcases The driver who picked us up was a slob he was dirty his clothes were filthy and his van was disgusting it had food and crumbs all in the seat and he also picked us up in a van that had a wheelchair ramp. It cost me $80. I paid cash and he could not provide me a receipt. I called Carmel to make complaint and request refund and after no call back 6 days later I called again and was told they could only offer me a $6 credit. This place is a joke ### 1/5 — App is terrible *2025-04-10, version 3.16* App assumes I want to be picked up in FL. While I’m in FL I want to be picked up at LGA in Ny and taken to an address in NY but I can’t do it. I’ll just take a cab or uber. ### 3/5 — App Not user Friendly *2025-03-19, version 3.16* I wanted to use the Carmel App on my iPhone to book a trip from LGA to my residence in Manhattan. The app was not easy to use; I could not figure out how to enter my pickup location, which was LGA; I was in the Indianapolis Airport and the app kept insisting the pickup was in Indianapolis, not my final destination, LGA. I finally got the app to accept LGA as the pickup point. I have tried using the app in the past & became so frustrated I gave up. Also the app does not allow me to select an option to pay in the car at the end of the ride. It only seems to work for where you are at the moment and at the time that you’re making the reservation. They kept changing the assigned vehicle and now we’re on the fourth vehicle after having waited over half an hour. The fourth vehicle that is assigned is very far from the airport and trying to get through traffic to pick us up. They texted me at 1:55 pm stating that the driver is 10 minutes late. At 2:08, they called to cancel due to the lack of drivers. What a waste of time! At the pick up time I get a message saying oh we couldn’t cover the ride. Sorry you have no ride today. I will be sure to let everyone I know in Manhattan to not use this service. At 6:53 am, I get a phone call from Carmel telling me that they are canceling my ride because they don’t have a driver. I ended up missing my flight and paid $220 for another ride to the airport. Not good service ! He eventually got out of the vehicle, but the first thing he said was that he is not my personal attendant and that I should load my luggage myself. Is this the new standard at Carmel? Worse, he continued to complain, and I had to ask him to stop. I felt deeply offended. I always check them first. The competing ride share apps out of Silicon Valley gouge on price & are notoriously unreliable, with drivers randomly cancelling on you when you really need them to show up. Carmel offers consistent, transparent pricing (no airport rides that are $75 today and $175 a couple days later when you come home!) Carmel’s app is easy to book, they will show up, they charge a reasonable fare and they always give friendly & professional service…you can trust there are real men & women working hard behind the scenes to make Carmel deliver for you.
