They’re not great when every button tap causes the phone to vibrate. This app uses them excessively, as if someone recently learned that they exist and said “hey, let’s do that everywhere!!” As a person who’s super sensitive to this type of thing, I can’t even begin to explore what’s new about the app because the haptics are so off-putting. ### 3/5 — App is slow *2025-04-18, version 8.4.12* App is a lil slow and in accurate for the ride wait times. And I have struggled when purchasing drink plan plus the employees seem not to know the difference between the regular plan and the plus when they scan it in idk if this is an app issue but it needs to be fixed ### 3/5 — The app has gotten better *2024-10-27, version 8.4.4* I like it better than it used to be ### 1/5 — The app is trash *2024-10-20, version 8.4.4* If you are going to have an app make it work ### 1/5 — Bring a map, this app is terrible *2024-10-13* First experience at Carowinds on 10/12 was pretty bad, in large part due to this app. Super clunky and cumbersome to use, app crashed for many people for over an hour last night. Meanwhile at night there you can barely see the posted “you are here” maps that are sparsely placed around the park and there’s minimal staff available to assist. Come 630p the app map changes to a “Scarowinds map” where much of the periphery is blacked out. Map doesn’t even label where the gate is. Took us half hour to find the exit on our own, finally with the help of a police officer we flagged down. They really tout the app’s mobile food ordering, but only one restaurant actually was doing this and only had a few of their selections available, notably the pricier stuff, eg a $52 pizza. Finally, the estimated ride times are waaay off, at least for the non coaster rides. Est time for bumper car ride was 10 min. 41 minutes later it was finally our turn. ### 1/5 — Totally useless map *2024-10-12, version 8.4.3* The map shouldn’t shift EVERY TIME YOU SELECT SOMETHING. The map is hopeless at finding how to get somewhere. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — This app is broken & needs fixed ASAP *2025-12-06* The app no longer shows my Season Passes & when I try to look them up it gives me an internal server error, same as the new Six Flags app that everything is supposed to. I just want to get my passes in my Apple wallet before the new year because I don’t trust that the apps will be working. ### 1/5 — New update bricks the map feature *2025-11-06* You cannot move about in the map when navigating, so you have to literally turn your phone around as you walk if you want it to actually show you which direction to walk (like physically spinning your phone in your hand). Additionally, they messed up the food pass tags, so now only one place shows as part of the food pass, which simply isn’t true. Please please fix the map. It was never user friendly, but at least it used to kinda work before this forced update. ### 1/5 — So janky *2025-11-01, version 9.2.2* Yeah so they forced me to download an update and poof all my rewards are gone. Thanks! ### 1/5 — Repeated glitches with passes and renewals *2025-10-27* We love Carowinds, but their app has been terrible for accessing and renewing annual passes. First we could not load Carowinds passes into Cedar Point’s app. Then I could not reload passes back into the Carowinds app. Now we cannot renew annual passes (with a promotion expiring) due to some new glitch on the last payment page. Just brutally bad server problems. ### 1/5 — Horrible and getting worse *2025-10-21* Tried using in the park last Saturday. The find my car would not work and was useless. Trying to find something on the map was a nightmare. And for the past week or so after using it on my iPhone, the only way to close it is to reboot my iPhone. Otherwise the blue icon in the top left corner of my phone stays active and appears to be draining my battery. Also no longer Cedar Fair but is now Six Flags ### 1/5 — Horrible upgrade *2025-10-20, version 9.1.1* The latest app upgrade is absolutely awful. It lost all season passes and then was unable to reload them after the information was provided by customer service at Carowinds. Was it not tested before it was rolled out? This time (it’s not the 1st glitchy update) the update is stick in an update loop. This translates poorly and begs to question what other quality lapses should we be wary off? I was thrilled when I saw they updated the entire Carowinds app. It looks great, is extremely easy to use to find wait times, order food and store my tickets. I defs. prefer their map over the paper one (saves trees). It shows the their shows so I know when I need to get there (I loved Cirque Imagine, btw). Instead users are forced to click into each individual ride one-by-one which is tedious and degrades the experience. Developers - a very simple UI enhancement to make your app 5 stars! ### 4/5 — New update is amazing! *2023-12-22* Hello, the new update for the Carowinds app makes it nice and modern with more simplistic ways to use it like trying to find a way to a ride, and even when you save your cars location it uses your phones map! For me since I am an iOS user it uses Apple Maps. You can even scan your parking spot, I have not tried it yet but I definitely will next time I visit! But I really wish there was a dark mode for the app. Other than that nice job on the new app! ### 4/5 — Mostly great *2022-10-08, version 7.231* The app is an enormous help. At least it was for us as we were new to the park. Everything we interacted with on the app was great with the exception of the paths or destination route it plots for you when you want to go somewhere. I think the map itself is a bit outdated and the accuracy of the path is only about 50/50. It might be more helpful for Carowinds than it was for Carowinds as certain areas were blocked off and this was NOT reflected on the map or in the routes it plotted for you. Great concept.
