## What is Carpenter's Calculator?

Working with US Customary units (feet and inches) often involves measurements in fractions of an inch, and therefore mixed-number arithmetic. For example: you need to rip 6 planks at 3 5/16" width each. Your saw blade kerf is approximately 1/8". To figure out how much width you need in total, you'd do 6 * (3 5/16 + 1/8). You can do this in your head, but it's easy to make a mistake -- and if you add any more complexity, it becomes a challenge. You can do it on paper, but that's a bit cumbersome for such a simple operation. With the Carpenter's Calculator, it's easy.

Even if you're not a woodworker and uninterested in using fractions or mixed numbers, this calculator should offer you just about everything that the built-in iOS calculator offers, but with a feel closer to a traditional scientific or graphing calculator. It also stores your last 20 expressions and results, which makes it very easy to do slightly more complex calculations without needing to whip out a pencil and paper.

This calculator is exactly what I was looking for.  I have a construction calculator in my shop and wanted something to use when I’m away from the shop. This calculator is simple and does not require much storage. I especially like that it does not insert adds or collect data. Well done!!

I was looking for a simple easy to use Calc for help in the wood shop. Designing furniture and useful things often requires a lot of math so I was hopeful to find something intuitive and easy to use to offload some of the work from my little brain. I found it here!!! This app is fantastic!!! Not monetized and straight forward I give a lot of thanks for the developer!!!! Thank you sir for making something useful available to us for free!!!! Great little app. Does what it needs to do without any distracting features. Would gladly donate a few dollars to the developer. Thanks for being one of the few calculators out there not charging for a simple offline calculator.

I don't have a setup for accepting donations now, but might change that soon.Edit: just came back to say that Apple policies prohibit me from accepting donations for this unless I use their in-app purchase infrastructure, which is an ugly can of worms. So it goes.
