### 2/5 — No Boost indicator

*2026-02-13, version 4.0*

After the 2.0 update, there’s no longer a color change on the Boost icon in the app to indicate if it’s activated or not.

### 1/5 — Almost pure garbage

*2025-12-09, version 4.0*

Just a junk app that I seem to be locked into because the there’s not a way to install an external thermostat on my heat pump. I got over the part where it randomly resets me to C°, but now their new update locked me out and you can’t even see what your typing while trying to log in- oh, but you can even go to their site and chat with someone but not find out they’re closed till you jump through more hoops. Great work guys.

### 1/5 — Useful but frustrating.

*2025-12-07, version 4.0*

Update: Don’t update to version 4. Broken. Status indicators don’t. Text is is black on dark grey. Feels like they didn’t test on iOS at all.

Constantly have to manually re-enter my password. Disconnects regularly. Scheduling interface awful. Auto should provide a range to set the device to. No integration with any other smart home system. Randomly changes to centigrade.

Three years without an update. Carrier needs to do better.

### 1/5 — Poor design everywhere

*2025-12-06, version 4.0*

UI and user friendliness is poor. Glitchy. Using the temp dial you cover up the number with your thumb so you have no idea what temp it is. Don’t is either tiny or in light colors that don’t contrast with the screen background. It feels like a rookie job designed by high schoolers on the weekend. Seemingly never has any improvements or updates to address these obvious flaws.

### 1/5 — Worst app ever

*2025-12-05, version 4.0*

Whoever wrote this app is just lazy. The login screen is white text on the white background. You can’t even read it. The password reset doesn’t work and now all my thermostats are set on the schedule that I cannot control because this app doesn’t work. These walls are expensive and it’s completely unacceptable that this company sucks so bad at creating apps.

### 1/5 — Update erased account

*2025-12-04, version 4.0*

Updated then my account info wiped. Can’t get back in with contact info.

### 1/5 — How can Carrier approve this?

*2025-12-03, version 4.0*

This app is so bad, it’s an embarrassment to Carrier. When the USB WiFi dongle disconnects, it’s impossible to get it to reconnect. I have to open the unit and disconnect the dongle, then plug in again. Do you know what a pain that is, up on a ladder? And the font size and colors are impossible to read. Grey on grey, white on pale yellow, etc. Give me a break! I prefer plain black & white, high contrast. And increase the font size!!! At least give us some palette choices.

### 2/5 — Share QR code doesn’t work. No support available.

*2025-11-30, version 2.0*

Have been trying to share with husband so he can also see device and he scans QR, it says owner of device (me) needs to accept and then I don’t see anything come up asking me to accept. Also, seems to be no support or instructions anywhere for the app itself.

### 1/5 — Absolute garbage; worst app experience I have ever had

*2025-11-26, version 2.0*

I never write apps reviews, but this app is *so* bad that I feel compelled to write this. I’m trying to get this paired with a professionally installed Carrier heat pump and air handler. The Carrier hardware has been great, but in retrospect I would have purchased an inferior product from a competing brand just so that I would not have to fight with the incredibly stupid app and the WiFi paring process. The app config requires using the remote control that came with the Carrier hardware. The remote itself looks like it was designed by the lowest bidder of disinterested contract competition in the 1980s. To start to try to add the unit to the app for control via the app on the phone, a user must add a device and go through a “wizard” style walk through of steps. Even the UI on this looks to be intentionally bad. On several screens it provides text to help with a button to automate part of the process (like enable local network sharing) but then it overlays additional text on top of that button so you can’t easily read it and can not actually click the button. To connect to the unit to pair it, the user must find the LED button on the stupid looking remote and push the button 7 times. This causes the WiFi receiver puck to start flashing. About 25% of the time my phone will actually eventually see the WiFi SSID for the unit and I can try to connect. The other 75% of the time it never does; after waiting 10 minutes I have to power cycle the entire air handler and the phone. Once it does actually connect, if it finds your home WiFi it then asks for the password. The password field prints white text on an almost exactly the same shade of white background (both for standard * hidden passwords and if you click on the eye to show the text while you type). If that connects (it failed multiple time for me and required air handler and phone reboots again), then it takes several minutes with three different steps listing percentages. During the last section, your phone will prompt you to share the password for the WiFi that you already entered. Every time I’ve gotten this far and accepted that, it then completes the 100% percentage and then said fail and will not add the unit to the app. This app and the WiFi remote hardware are absolute trash.

### 1/5 — No verification email sent

*2025-11-12, version 2.0*

You need to create an account and validate it with your email. However, you never get that email….

### 1/5 — Awful App

*2025-11-02, version 2.0*

This app is useless and should be removed from the App Store.

### 1/5 — Doesn’t have a simple heat option

*2025-11-01, version 2.0*

Technically turns the system on and off, but doesn’t even offer a simple heat mode option and fan speed settings don’t work at all. Interface is terrible to use-absolutely not conforming to accessibility standards. Insane this was ever released publicly

### 1/5 — Crappy App

*2024-12-28, version 2.0*

For a company like carrier this app is an embarrassment

### 1/5 — Can’t Read Screen

*2024-12-12, version 2.0*

Terrible interface.
Functionality is useful, however the characters are too tiny, fuzzy and light to read on my iPhone, even with BOLD ON!

### 1/5 — Can’t share across devices

*2024-12-08, version 2.0*

the 3-D barcode sharing doesn’t work and signing in from a different device kicks me off the original device

### 1/5 — Impossible to give feedback

*2024-12-06, version 2.0*

Horrible. You just deleted my text in the feedback window when I entered my email address below and clicked the screenshot button. Which incidentally I can’t even see my email address because I use my iPhone in dark mode. And now it is telling me email format is wrong but I can’t see the darn text to see what is wrong. So I ended up just deleting the email. Gosh I hate this app!!! Other things I can’t see also because of dark mode. Also when daylight savings time happens it screws up all the times in schedules which is really frustrating because it woke me up bc my room got too hot too early. Which is a problem with the product itself also, not just the app, as the heater just keeps getting hotter. It’s set to 62 but has gotten my room as hot as 79 because it just keeps going. And it keeps failing to submit this feedback, even after I started fresh and tried not even entering any email. So I had to give up and submit it in the App Store. So frustrating.

### 1/5 — Disfonctionnel

*2024-11-06, version 2.0*

### 1/5 — I followed the instructions to a T, but it cannot connect.

*2024-10-17, version 2.0*

App asks for permission to access bluetooth on my watch, not wifi. Which makes no sense since my mini splits are Wi-Fi capable. Anyway, it doesn’t work, useless.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Kinda works?

*2026-07-31, version 4.0*

This goes with the thermostat came with my new carrier heat pump. I was told this would be better than the nest I already had.

It is not.

I can change the temperature setting.

That’s about all this app can do.

The preprogrammed schedule does not work.

This app cannot do most of the things my Nest did.

Also, it does not provide data an operation, energy usage, etc.

Carrier, if you’re going to have an app, please make it useful.

Please!?!

### 1/5 — Trash

*2026-07-13, version 4.0*

This app sucks constantly crash’s and constantly has to be deleted and reinstalled . Multiple phones and tablets

### 1/5 — App interface is awful

*2026-07-12, version 4.0*

The pale screen means I can’t see the email or password when I’m at the login. The registration page is an awful black background. After registering and verifying the account I still can’t log in

### 1/5 — Worked for a day.

*2026-06-29, version 4.0*

So yes, first fail is that we get white text on white background and black text on black background. That sets the tone and reflects the amount of thought put into this app. Supposedly the thermostat this pairs to enables the “full function” of my heat pump but it’s hard to believe when the app is so broken. Have to re-pair the device as it no longer connects after only 2-3 weeks of having it.

### 1/5 — Really Bad

*2026-06-11, version 4.0*

App uses white text on a white background. It constantly loses connection to the devices. Can’t change the wireless network. Really a poorly designed app.

### 1/5 — This release is a non starter

*2026-05-03, version 4.0*

Forced to sign in again, no text shows when typed, the screen is terrible, feedback abismal. I can no longer log in reasonably, so i wont. this app is unusable until a new release comes out, which stinks because i’ve lost a major feature of my mini-split. Boo!

### 1/5 — Buggy

*2026-04-02, version 4.0*

New update does not show if turbo/boost is on or not. Tapping it does have an effect but only indicates on the touch panel so there is no way of knowing for sure that you have engaged it.

### 1/5 — Bring the old version back!!!

*2026-01-09, version 4.0*

With the latest release we have lost the ability to control louver direction, boost, LED. And and and. You guys are better than this!!!!

### 1/5 — Buggy App

*2025-12-31, version 4.0*

When you enable things like “boost”, fan selections, etc. there is NO Indy action on the app that you have turned on the feature.

On the prior version of the app the mode would highlight when you select it. Now you just have to guess… unless you are in the room which is not always the case.

The app also regularly logs me out. Every week or two I have to log back in.

I would have reported these bugs through another means, but the other links do not take me anywhere I can find a bug report on this app.

Other than these issues it is a very useful app.

### 1/5 — wasted time

*2025-12-12, version 4.0*

I downloaded the app, I can’t register profile with the site even after receiving the confirmation email. It goes to a dead server. The devices I purchased that reference this app have QR codes that go to a dead site as well. :-/

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Update is wonderful

*2024-07-12, version 2.0*

Full control with the new apps. Great

### 5/5 — New version is great!

*2023-07-13, version 2.0*

Just had to say thank you to the devs and carrier for updating this app to 2.0. The UI is SO much better. There is increased functionality, for example I can now “boost” mode from my phone, that was not there before. I also love the added functionality of the specific positioning angles (BOTH up/down and left/right!). If you didn’t like your experience with the previous version I would definitely give this app a try again, I think carrier and the devs put in some quality work into their update and I’m thankful because I can be even lazier and not have to get the remote for my split system. I hope they get more nice reviews for this update they deserve it.

### 5/5 — New version

*2023-05-30, version 2.0*

Wow, the new version looks great and so far works really well, thanks for the update.

### 4/5 — WiFi App works, but no Carrier support. Xfinity router was the problem.

*2021-06-13, version 1.2*

I had my split system installed during the pandemic last August. I paid extra for the Wi-Fi because I’m frequently away from home and come home late. The Carrier authorized installer put the app on my iPhone, showed me how it works but I never used it in 2020 due to pandemic and always home. This year (2021) split units all show offline. Called installer, told call Carrier for WiFi. First 2 calls on hold for an hour and get disconnected. 3rd time I get connected to technical assistance after 40 min. She takes all my info and says this needs to be escalated, we will get back to you. Next day I get email to call installer. Awful service. I realize I’m on my own. I started thinking about it and what changed since last year. I have three split systems, so it seems unlikely all three would fail within less than a year. I got a new iPhone and a new Comcast Xfinity router. Long story short, it’s the Comcast Xfinity router that will not allow the Carrier units to stay connected to WiFi. I connected a Netgear router to my Xfinity provided router. Connected split system to Netgear router and system has been working for over a week as it should. I even disconnected power from router to confirm it still works and it does. I hope this helps others because I was very frustrated over the last month.

### 4/5 — Complete control of AC wirelessly

*2019-10-19*

This app allows me to control my Carrier AC unit with my cell phone utilizing WiFi. I have access to all the same modes, just like the remote control that came with it. It’s especially nice if I am out of town ,I can adjust the mode, fan speed, and thermostat setting to suit my needs.

### 3/5 — Relentless annoying pop-up

*2026-08-10, version 4.0*

The app works. However, every 5 seconds a pop-up comes up saying clean filter. It’s a brand new installation, there’s no reason to clean filters yet. No matter what I click: cancel or clean, 5 seconds later that message is back. Highly annoying.

### 3/5 — Needs Work. Be Creative

*2026-04-22, version 4.0*

Rating is really closer to 2.5 stars. Could be 3.5 if the below is addressed. I understand the major upgrades asks are unlikely happen. Can barely find support to ask questions. But basic app functionality should be addressed.

This app needs a developers focus. Glad it was updated but more can be done for sure.

- Improve the share app feature so others in the home easily be added

- Major upgrade if possible. Give the system more ability to sense humidity, outside temperature (and dew point) so the auto function works much more effectively when deciding to cool or warm.

- Add feature auto switch between dry and cool. Use the enhancement mentioned above to sense outdoor temperature.

- Major upgrade if possibles. Create an interface to allow Ecobee+ thermostat to manage the system. Your system was sold to me with the ecobee+ but not interface.

- I do not really use them but improve the scene function. To me They barely work.

- improve the check function to provide more helpful information to the home owner.

- Make it easy to reuse the scheduling feature. Right not it seems it schedule ie per device (mini split)

### 3/5 — Nice app unless you’re in dark mode

*2024-03-29, version 2.0*

Pretty decent app for an appliance control app, but don’t try to go the user profile or settings UI in dark mode as most of the UI is invisible in dark mode. You have to switch your phone to light mode to use any of those sections of the app.

### 3/5 — Wish chime could be disabled

*2023-06-02, version 2.0*

I have a minisplit A/C unit that functions fine but I wish the app could disable the chime on the unit. Not necessarily a reflection of the functionality of the app but more so a design flaw within the wall unit itself. Just hoping the app developers could code something to turn off the loud chime as I adjust the temp from my phone at night in our bedroom.

### 3/5 — Forced to sign Terms of Service

*2020-09-18*

First of all, the Terms of Service seem to have been written by a foreign 4th grader. Then it is forced on us to sign. Why does an HVAC controller app need forced TOS?Seriously Carrier, if you’re going put out an app to support your products, at least spend the money on a professional firm to create your app and market it. A decent law firm would help too. The scribble you call a TOS is laughable.

The app actually works ok.
