App page has no upgrade tab, it only offers me to open it. I could delete the app and redownload but I’m not sure if I need to etc. Sorry to complain but it’s literally more than useless on my phone it literally crashes it… I’m not looking to damage my iPhone. ### 3/5 — App's been taken over by another provider *2026-01-15, version 5.9.8* Updated review : I'm reviewing this app following the latest update after the new service provider took over. I find that, while it looks flash, it's not so easy to find your way around now. The graphs are displayed separately where once they were together. My main complaint is that there is little to no detail about the health effects of solar and cosmic activity - I used to find that particularly useful. I doubt I'll be renewing my subscription (especially since it used to be free for me and is now no longer!). Previous review : I've enjoyed this app for a number of years without any issues. Since Ben and his Suspicious Observers crew gave control over to another service provider (Carrington?) it has deteriorated. I can no longer see the Kp Index and Solar Wind charts. I emailed support about this many weeks ago and got ........ tumbleweed! It’s been a number of weeks with no access to them, no notifications, and just a notice updates are coming. I just get a blank white screen when accessing that option. Turned them off then on per instructions with no change. Not sure we’re interested renewingr the app at this point. Thanks in advance for your response and information ### 1/5 — Junk App. Unresponsive support. *2026-01-19* I used to enjoy using this app. However, after writing them indicating that the main splash screen has been the same one that has been for several months. There was no response from support. Make sure you make the right session before paying for this app. It says it has huge updates ahead. But that’s being posted for a while. I’ve been paying for this app. Getting very disappointed and its functionality. Don't spend your money on this. ### 1/5 — Still disappointing (was: What just happened?!) *2025-12-30, version 5.9.8* UPDATE 2025-12: Although the app had improved slightly since the original review (below), it has significantly decreased in terms of reliability. Alerts sometimes appear in droves and have to be turned off to avoid uselessness. Earthquake listings no longer show magnitude, but have some sort of unexplained color coding. Tsunami warnings no longer appear. Many settings are still not documented. And the UX is still terrible. Very sad to see what was once a great, supported app turn into such flaming rubbish. ORIGINAL REVIEW: With the revision of the app in January 2023, it's like the app was taken over by a 7th grader. Not only did it change completely with absolutely no explanation, including some new poorly written sign-in page, but key information, like the map showing the location of each quake, is now gone. The color choices make thing near illegible (orange and red on turquoise?!), the new waffle menu is poorly written and organized (settings are under "Admin"?!), and there are highly irritating and distracting animations that cannot seem to be turned off. Within minutes of opening the new dashboard, several errors appeared, including a traceback preceded by a message that "this VM is violating DART standards by providing a traceback"). Honestly, as a Kickstarter backer ("founder") of the original app, I find this new revision to be incredibly disappointing, to put it in the best possible light. Renewal changed that and response from owner is nonexistent unless you post here. You are better off just using USGS for earthquakes and NOAA, Goddard, NASA, and SWN for real time data. Naturally, I chose “free basic” as I need to see if I even like this app. Get past that, it shows you what’s new in the latest version. This is my first download and run of the app, not useful, but whatever. Get past that, observe banner ad. OK now to try this app! Tap on first element— bam! Ad. Ok… next element I try— I don’t understand– Ad! I wasn’t still in the app, an add was tricking me to tap on it. Get past that– try a third thing (I think you can guess what happens next). I can monitor “the situation” myself and receive updates. Thanks Carrington! ### 5/5 — Been Using This App For Years *2026-04-04* Just recently getting use to the new updates and it not only looks good but works good as well. More educational information has been added with more charts and prices for additional data still is very low in prices per year then I would have expected. I think this is the best version on this app then the previous versions combined. Had it since Ben first released it so keep up the great work! You won’t be disappointed ### 5/5 — Must Have App. *2024-05-13, version 5.6.9* In todays turbulent climate, and the Sun which is becoming a problematic issue for the earth. This is a must have app for space weather, health alerts. The app is well designed, kept up to date daily and an invaluable tool. Never had any issues with the app. ### 5/5 — What is one more hour worth? *2024-02-22* Whether you have a brand, new phone, or like mine, yours is full, and there is no more room, make room for this app. Make sure the settings let you know of any X class solar flare. Give it its own alarm at top volume. Then figure out exactly what you would want to do if you knew that in one hour, the sun was going to knock out the global power grid and send you back to the Stone Age. I strongly recommend part of your one hour protocol, which would probably include collecting children from school, also include creating as much of an separation from the electric grid. The amperage that will come through your main panel will let your house on fire. This is a low frequency event, so it will not affect small circuitry the way that a nuclear triggered EMP would. However, it is unknown what natural EMP like energy will result as a function of such as solar Killshot. Everybody will have their own one hour drill. However, everybody’s time is up once you see the northern lights. And they will be spectacular. Hopefully the X 20 solar flare will not compromise your reception of this notification. That is more the function of what side of the planet is facing the sun. However, the next Carrington event will be a global event. Line of sight won’t matter. (Please note that you can prove it’s a globe by calling somebody on FaceTime in the southern hemisphere during a full moon.
