## What is CasaRay?

CasaRay is an Apple-native smart-home controller for Home Assistant.

Control rooms, lights, locks, gates, garage doors, covers, climate, scenes, cameras, energy, waste schedules, and household presence from one native app designed for large homes. CasaRay turns Home Assistant data into focused, consistent views across iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, Mac, widgets, Shortcuts, and CarPlay.

Choose the people and places you want to see on Home. View current presence on a map, and request distance or directions only when useful. See live solar, grid, and battery flow, review electricity, gas, and water history, and keep cameras, notifications, access, and everyday controls close at hand.

CasaRay Free connects one Home Assistant home and keeps every imported room and device visible. It includes live state and device control, camera snapshots and live streams, basic notifications, widgets, and everyday personalization, without device-count limits or partial-home imports. CasaRay Plus adds the experimental Assistant, a notification inbox and rules, imported Home Assistant dashboard views, and advanced navigation and dashboard placement.

The experimental Assistant supports chat, realtime voice, selected images, home questions, diagnostics, and permitted controls. It requires a separately eligible ChatGPT account. OpenAI controls available models, voices, account limits, and service availability, which can change independently of CasaRay.

Apple Watch provides compact status and manual controls through the paired iPhone, with experimental Assistant voice for Plus. CarPlay provides the approved voice-first Assistant and bounded manual controls through Apple system templates; it does not expose a general smart-home dashboard.

Preview Mode lets you explore CasaRay without a Home Assistant server.

CasaRay is local-first and privacy focused. Home Assistant credentials are stored locally in Keychain. Everyday home data stays on your devices unless you choose an optional service. When the experimental Assistant is enabled, CasaRay sends prompts, voice audio, selected images, and relevant home context to OpenAI; it never sends your Home Assistant credential. CasaRay requests device location only after you choose Distance or Route, does not retain location history, and does not track in the background. Optional notification delivery uses the relay described in the privacy policy.

CasaRay 1.8 restores quicker access to Assistant and makes the compact launcher your choice.

• Ask CasaRay returns as a floating chat and voice launcher on iPhone and compact iPad for eligible users.
• The launcher is enabled by default and can be disabled or restored under Settings > Your Experience > Appearance.
• Regular iPad and Mac continue to provide Assistant from the sidebar.
• The floating launcher no longer reserves page space, keeping controls and scrolling layouts unchanged.

• Apple Watch now ships with the iPhone app, with compact home status, manual controls, and optional Assistant voice through the paired phone.

• Assistant actions start faster, report progress more accurately, recover more reliably, and avoid recent main-thread stalls.

CasaRay 1.5 makes Home more informative while keeping it calm and stable.

• Choose which household members and places appear, see current presence on a private map, and request Distance or Route only when useful. CasaRay does not track device location in the background or retain route history.
• Energy now shows clearer live solar, grid, and battery flow, battery level and reserve, and estimated runtime or charge time when the available data supports it. Today, Week, and Month views add more dependable electricity, gas, and water history.
• Connection state is now a compact, stable status dot instead of layout-shifting banners. Tap it for a detailed state and privacy-safe Support Diagnostics.
• Camera playback can now be muted. Live Wall starts muted and gives each stream its own audio control, with Mute All always available.
• Waste collection cards show both the weekday and how many days remain.
• Notification actions now distinguish CasaRay history from active Home Assistant notifications and provide explicit dismissal choices.
• Home actions, people avatars, and responsive layouts are more stable and consistent across iPhone, iPad, and Mac.

CasaRay 1.4 is a major camera, large-home, and Apple-platform update.

• New Plus Live Wall on iPad and Mac: view up to four cameras on iPad or six on Mac, select one audio source, or mute the wall.
• Faster and more reliable WebRTC, including native video and receive-only audio on Mac. Automatic streaming can prioritize Fastest Image (WebRTC → MJPEG → HLS) or Preserve Audio (WebRTC → HLS → MJPEG), with persistent per-camera choices.

CasaRay now resumes a healthy Home Assistant connection when you return to the app, keeping your home visible instead of rebuilding the screen. Navigation uses native tabs, preserves scroll position, and handles large homes and camera mosaics more efficiently. Live Activities for watering, mowing, and vacuuming are more reliable. Dark mode, configurable larger tabs, lights, locks, gates, covers, notifications, and waste schedules have also been improved.
