### 4/5 — Solid app missing some quality of life features

*2024-08-19*

Scanning is quick, especially with the paid version, but there need to be some simple features other free apps have to make it worth $50 annually. There is no way to search for cards within a deck, there is also no ‘average mana value’ stat for each deck. It’s excessively cumbersome identifying what deck a card is in, as you have to select each deck individually to check. You also can’t import .csv or other table formatted files. I’m checking out a few other options, like ManaBox or MTG Scanner. Overall mostly does the job though.

### 3/5 — Would be GREAT if no subscription

*2024-03-06, version 1.45*

I really like this app and would pay for the premium version. However, I’m not paying $50 a YEAR or $5 a month. One time pay for the app should be enough. This isn’t Netflix or Amazon.

### 3/5 — Not free

*2024-01-26*

The first 5 words of the app description are “Cascade MTG is the free…”

It’s not free. I spent hours building out a deck and loved the app. I then tried to play test the deck and was hit with a $50 pay wall.

If it wasn’t advertised as free, I wouldn’t be as upset as I was to see the pay wall to continue.

### 3/5 — Won’t export to text

*2023-12-03, version 1.44*

The is a feature where you can export your decklist to text. However, it doesn’t work. It adds a bunch of percentage symbols and other random characters. Maybe this feature is paywalled? I’m not sure, but it’s super inconvenient.

### 4/5 — Really like it but not quite there yet

*2023-10-01*

Love the fact that can scan the majority of the cards and the data base quite big. However disappointed that some lands( extended arts, and special printings) and secret lair collections are not on it. Having built a stranger things commander deck and tried to scan or manual search the cards surprised they weren’t there. Could get the 5* but in this case turned out disappointing….

### 3/5 — Can’t copy decks

*2023-08-25, version 1.42*

I’ve used the app for like 3-4 years and recently when I try to copy a deck it sends me to the premium plan page. Is this a bug or is copying decks now only a paid for thing?

### 4/5 — Almost perfect.

*2023-05-01*

Honestly the only things I wish the app could do is have a search function that allowed for boarder-less or extended art as well as have all the various printings. Seems like a few are missing, it seems minor but would make the app perfect in my eyes.

### 3/5 — Where is ONE set cards?

*2023-02-17, version 1.37*

Usually love this app but we are a couple weeks post pre release and I can’t scan or search for like a third of my cards from the ONE set

### 4/5 — Great… but

*2023-02-17*

The loading time is sometimes pretty long for searching cards. I’m not sure why it’s like that, but it will take longer than you think. Also, the search will not work even if you typed in the right name correctly if you open the app immediately into a deck, you would have to leave the deck and rejoin to get the search to work. Second I’ve found that it will randomly not have cards even if they are already out. Ex) Whisper of the Dross

### 4/5 — Very helpful

*2022-11-20*

The app is very up to date and helps with keeping track of all my cards as well as the different format legalities. I do wish though that they would add in some way to filter your inventory other than the “starts with” filter.

### 4/5 — Works well as a card scanner

*2022-10-28, version 1.35*

The scanning can take a bit of time but it’s extremely accurate and almost never wrong. Great app!

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Wish it worked more than 70% of the time!

*2025-10-07*

This app worked very well for most of my collection. However, ghe scanning fearure breaks for many cards with extended art and EVERY card that has special symbols in the name. What’s more frustrating is that it’s manual search often returns 0 results when trying to manually add a card. I’ve also seen multiple instances of the app missing printings for various cards. It’s a shame because the app is lain out well and has great features, but that doesn’t excuse fundamental functionality breaking frequently.

### 1/5 — Card scanner won’t even work

*2025-07-20, version 1.65*

First thing I try when scanning card is error.

### 1/5 — App isn’t working

*2024-12-08, version 1.56*

Had an account and now it’s not working. Lost all my decks I made and can’t even get back into the app after deleting it and redownloading it.

### 1/5 — Nope

*2024-09-03*

Not creating an account just to get spammed with junk mail when I don’t even know if it works properly. This makes app number 5. The last 4 were packed full of fake reviews. The scanner never works or I have stand hunched over and rock my phone like a teeter totter before it will read the card. This isn’t even worth my time.

### 1/5 — Won’t let me import deck lists

*2024-05-29, version 1.46*

It keeps saying incorrect spelling even when I copy paste a deck list from websites. Even if I just type in 1 thing it won’t import.

### 1/5 — Junk

*2024-05-09, version 1.46*

Honestly your better off just getting Mana Box, way better in every way (if your worried about transferring cards or moving things over, it has export and import settings, a very very good scan feature as well)

### 1/5 — It’s not great

*2023-06-26*

The scanner is hit or miss. It sometimes thinks a normal card is an extended art, a complete other card, or just will not scan in at all.
Despite the card being in clear, plain view of the camera these issues persist.

Another gripe is it does not scan in Japanese treated cards, so I assume it does not recognize other language cards either.

Subscribing to premium does nothing for the accuracy of the scanner so the auto mode is essentially useless due to the above issues. It isn’t really auto if I have to babysit the app to make sure it gets the right card, or baby sit the cards to make sure it is at the exact angle the app wants in order to get a scan, even though the entirety of the card is clear and visible. And if you have to do both of these things it is 100% not auto.

When it works as it should it is great. But it does not consistently work as it should so it is bad.

The scanner, and app as a whole could use improvement. I will not be continuing to use this app and I recommend you avoid it as well.

### 1/5 — No account

*2023-06-25, version 1.38*

Wants you to create an account to even use. Automatic non-starter for me.

### 1/5 — Good for scanning…. Only

*2022-11-28, version 1.36*

The app is good only for scanning the cards, the deck list is troublesome….. if you delete your deck the cards doesn’t desapear from the final card list making a mess in the end….also it is not possible to change the set for more than one card, if you import a list of cards you will need to manually change all of them to the correct set…… Unfortunately this app is not useful as it is, it can make a mess instead of organizing, which should be the main focus here…..

### 2/5 — Just catalogued my bulk, but now I have to do it again due to some bugs

*2025-01-10*

When this app works, it’s incredible. I love being able to immediately sort through my bulk to know whether or not I have a card that I have in mind to use in a new deck or simply to give to a friend. Initially I found the scanning feature really helpful! I got through about 1,200 cards in just a few nights. But it wasn’t until about a week later when I bought some boosters and wanted to log them where I found a really, REALLY impactful bug. If you use the scan feature, sometimes it won’t recognize the card and it will have you enter it in manually, and there generally isn’t a problem with it. But as soon as you have to manually enter a second card, it will still show that it was added but it actually gets rid of ALL manually-entered cards from the scanning session. Now I have no idea which cards I’m missing from my library, even after sorting through every one individually.

Also, another random thing, but Maarika, Brutal Gladiator only shows up as Zangief, the Red Cyclone from the Street Fighter x Secret Lair.

Other than that issue, it’s a solid app. But unfortunately the issue is big enough that I have to give this only two stars. If a feature doesn’t work correctly, don’t include it.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — The better deck building app

*2026-07-25*

I recommend cascade every chance I get, everything about the app is superior to alternatives, especially the user interface, it’s so simple and intuitive compared to others. The love spoiler tab is just the icing on top!

### 5/5 — Great as long as the price stays as is!

*2026-06-09*

As a free app, I would highly recommend it, and as a premium app, it definitely has its upsides.

For $50 dollars a year, it is fair, i’m writing this to say, that as it stands I would recommend the app for those just starting, and those looking to organize. If the price is raised or if the free version lost the inventory, card prices/scanning, or deck builder then you’re better off just using AI and a google sheets yourself, especially with how expensive the hobby is getting

### 5/5 — The base app is great

*2026-02-05*

I previously wrote a review complaining about some key features being behind a pay wall but the app itself is great. It’s a great organizational tool for decks and the app is very smooth. The previous review I wrote was irrational and wasn’t fair for the quality of the product.

### 5/5 — Awesome app!

*2024-12-23, version 1.57*

I don’t leave reviews often but this has been so helpful for me!

### 5/5 — Great for inventory so far

*2024-05-14*

This app has worked great for inventory, which was what I was wanting. I tried several other apps and this one left them in the dust with features and easier use. I do wish it had a duplicate search feature. I am seriously considering the upgrade version. Had a glitch and it got fixed right away! I have recommended this to my local shop for pricing, showed them and they were intrigued right away. Would be a good feature (unless I just haven’t found it) to have scan and immediately price for them. Highly recommend this app!

### 5/5 — Fantastic

*2023-12-28, version 1.44*

Easily the best of the 4 collection managers I tried out. The batch importer is a life saver!

### 5/5 — Best MTG app out there

*2023-05-08, version 1.38*

Only thing it’s missing is a slider to increase/decrease the card image size when viewing your decks

### 5/5 — Like MTG?

*2023-01-29, version 1.37*

Best app there is, imo.

### 5/5 — Best app of its type

*2022-08-23, version 1.33*

Would you please add the price of tix and more Magic online support?

### 5/5 — Awesome

*2022-08-18, version 1.33*

Great app! Only recommendation is if we could click on a card in our inventory and it would give us a little note that says WHICH deck the card is in - we all have many, many decks! Oh, and of my Android buddies want it!
