Since launching in November 2000, Castanet has become one of the most visited media websites in Western Canada.

The free Castanet.net app is the B.C. Interior's source for the latest local, national and world news, classifieds, events, webcams and more. The Castanet.net site is visited by 600,000 people every week. The Castanet.net app has all the features our desktop and mobile sites have with improved usability for smartphones.

### 3/5 — Old version was way better

The new version is all over the place, having a hard time posting ads due to them getting repeatedly flagged for some reason (never had that issue with the old version, over the course of 10 years and hundreds of ads posted). I’m sure I’ll get used to the new version, however, I wish there was still a way to use the old layout, it was way more intuitive.

App doesn’t work on data. All you get is the perpetual wheel of shame. When you use it on wifi the content is boring at best and amateurish.

The old app was horribly old. 
This app is a huge upgrade. 
It has a number of unpolished and unintuitive things. I haven’t spent much time in the app. 
Text fields don’t auto capitalize for one. Spelling corrections I think is an issue. When you are logged in and want to message someone, you have to enter a name, you are already logged in. Nope, it says name, you have to enter an email address. I AM ALREADY LOGGED IN! The old app didn’t have this problem.

No recent search history, except maybe the last one, yet doesn’t auto delete if you start to type. Search bar not intuitive.

I tried to watch a video but got stock in it. I couldn’t get back to castanet main menu. For years, I never had a problem with that app. This refresh has glitches. I have given up on the app for my tablet. Landscape mode is terrible. The window gets so small, I can’t see the words. It will not allow me to log in, unless I don’t use the app. This app is not for ipad.

All of a sudden when you press the back arrow, the app becomes a small window and you have to close it completely and restart it. And no more sliding to the next story.  Please fix!

I love the old version but, on readin the reviews, I’m not going to update to the new one,
BTW why do some obituaries jump back to the top of the list after a few weeks? Why are some shown twice?  I think it shows poor (or at least careless) careless editing

Horribly broken. Don’t post a garage sale. Crashes. 
They haven’t done anything with this for years. 

Jumpy, crashes, where are the classifieds? Every time I go into a list like watch list and come back out it jumps and I lose my place. Crashes often. Videos screw up, don’t play. Hard to find classifieds. Can’t search for specifics in rentals like classifieds. Frustrating app. Go to website at times. Stuck using castanet for some Classifieds as they have too much market share.

 - scrolling bug on iPads where the news list will jump to top when the story detail screen is dismissed.

 Introduces Sliding gestures. Sliding from left to right will dismiss the news detail screen instead of being forced to use the back button.
Some minor iPad layout changes
