Only your selection appears and then have to do the whole search again, request times are not clear and the search takes me 10x longer. I won’t be using it again in the future ### 2/5 — Oh dear *2026-05-06* Cat in a flat was a marvellous and easy to use service but since the take over a lot of the apps intuitive nature has vanished. I can’t even find my last sitter in “search sitters in your area”, it’s like she doesn’t exist. The biggest disappointment is the doubling of cat sitting fees. The charge is now per cat per visit PLUS a 15% fee. This makes a week away a very expensive thing. I have relied on cat in a flat during many a family crisis, when I have had to be away from home, but this dramatic increase in costs will make me think again. So sad that a great business has been consumed by greed. ### 2/5 — New update is awful *2026-05-03, version 3.1.0* I used to love this app however with the new update and Rover Collab the app is now unusable. It is extremely complicated to re-set up my cat sitting account. I am unable to take bookings because of this. The app now looks bland and awful too. Change back to how it was! ### 2/5 — Terrible overhaul- vibe coded perhaps? *2026-04-27* This was an amazing little app, but the April revamp/takeover has absolutely ruined it. The UX is terrible, making it hard to even figure out how to find a sitter as the calendar function is horrific. The new log in is painful, and the whole journey so unintuitive you end up doing the whole thing again and again. Worse, price visibility is terrible, so you feel like you’re being scammed, and the app now redirects to a Spanish website so perhaps I am. I don’t know who Rover are that took over, but the whole thing is next to useless. I hope someone has built a better one, I’m off to look. ### 1/5 — Change To Rover Is A Mess *2026-04-27, version 3.1.0* Had no idea this merger was happening now the app has had the soul stripped out of it visually and then I missed out on bookings that I wasn’t notified about due to not having it updated. This change should have been communicated properly beforehand. Absolute shambles. ### 1/5 — From great to awful *2026-04-23, version 3.1.0* I used this app for the past 3 years and had a positive experience so far. Until it was acquired by Rover and become some sort of hellish UI with terrible design, no clear messages. I lost all my favourite sitters contact details and a lot already decided to leave the app. The sitters are now also becoming more expensive because the app is not allowing them to keep their usual fees. Very sad and looking for better alternatives. ### 1/5 — Fusion décevante de Cat in a flat et Rover *2026-04-22* J’étais sur l’app Cat in a flat en tant que catsitter depuis des années, tout se passait super bien et depuis la fusion je n’ai plus aucune garde. Le système d’annonces ouvertes à tout le monde qu’il y avait sur cat in a flat était bien plus pratique et rentable pour les catsitter, maintenant on doit juste attendre dans notre coin qu’un client nous contacte personnellement, ce qui arrive bien plus rarement. De plus l’appli rover n’est pas du tout intuitive et fluide, avec des critères ou des titres mal traduis et trompeurs. Je regrette très fortement l’appli Cat in a flat… ### 2/5 — App now worse *2026-04-21, version 3.1.0* I completely agree with Alice about the look, feel and most importantly the transparency of pricing. This was a great way to get to find a genuinely nice cat person in the neighbourhood and choose that person based on their bio and prices. If this update of the app is an example of what the take over by Rover means for us ie it’s all about the money honey, then I’m out. I’ve already deleted the app. ### 1/5 — Merger has completely screwed over the app. *2026-04-19, version 3.1.0* Cat in a flat is basically unusable now for both cat sitters and cat owners. No payment confirmations, no ways of finding the old cat sitters. Rover completely screwed over cat in a flat. ### 1/5 — Awful *2026-04-16, version 3.1.0* I was a loyal customer of Cat in a Flat but now that it’s been moved, I cannot justify using it. It’s modified for dog owner so it’s awful to try and find a cat sitter and she can’t see the final payment until you’ve already messaged them and went through with it and there’s so many fees and never mind the phase you now have to pay for multiple pets in your household and the price is just not justifiable compared to what it was on Cat in a Flat ### 1/5 — Cat sitters avoid *2026-04-16, version 3.1.0* Since merging with Rover customer service is awful, no resolutions, customer couldn’t make small adjustments and is now being charged over £100 as rover have duplicated their booking and nobody will respond. They no longer provide insurance, booking forms or flexibility. Makes cat sitters look unprofessional- my advice is to go independent as I unfortunately will have to now. CIAF has damaged my reputation as rover is not fit for purpose ### 2/5 — What’s happened? *2026-04-15, version 3.1.0* I was forced to update the app and now the UI has completely changed and loads of my details have moved or disappeared- I had to recreate my pets profile and add payment and address details again. I wasn’t warned this would happen and there was no explanation leading up to this change. Very annoying! Also, I much preferred how it looked before, this version is so cold and clinical. Not a fan sorry. ### 4/5 — Vorher übersichtlicher aber gut *2026-04-15* Wenn man sich mit der neuen Rover App beschäftigt ist sie in Ordnung, besser wäre es noch, wenn eine App daraus wird und nicht zwei Einzelne. Viele beschweren sich über die neuen Preise, aber ganz ehrlich, die App war vorher schon extrem günstig dafür, dass jemand zu einem nach Hause kommt, ins gewohnte Umfeld, und sich dort um die Tiere kümmert. Andere private Sitter sind da deutlich teurer..Leider gab es keinen Hinweis vorab über die Umstellung, sodass ich vermute, dass viele Sitter das Update nicht mitbekommen haben..(PS: ein Gewerbe brauchte man vorher schon dafür) Das einzige was leider fehlt ist das „schwarze Brett“.. ### 2/5 — Plus de profil *2026-04-13* Vraiment chiant le transfert avec Roover on a plus accès à notre profil, photos et les avis qu’on a reçu en tant que catsitter ont disparus, déjà que l’inscription est longue + 0 notif pour prévenir quand on a des demandes À améliorer ### 4/5 — Revamp is lacking *2026-04-10* In the new revamp there are many really great improvements! I will say that now as a pet owner you are unable to see the final price for the booking you’re trying to make before you request it - the cost of the bookings is the most important piece of information and it would be great for it be as upfront & clear as possible. The overall UI has been stripped back to an almost clinical white feel - your pinks & purples were so much warmer and friendlier. With an app centred about caring for the users loved ones it feels like a missed opportunity to utilise more fun & emotive UI (don’t let industrialism/minimalism crush creativity girlies - fight the corporate machine (stakeholders)). Really love the concept and have booked a few times before but these couple of things (mainly the price before request) would be great to see resolved! ### 2/5 — Früher: Top! Seit der Übernahme von Wemauchimmer: Naja! *2026-04-10* Also früher war es so gewesen, dass die App genau das getan hat, was sie tun soll: Es war einfach und unkompliziert möglich, einen Catsitter zu finden und diesen dann auch später bequem über die App zu bezahlen. Ich konnte ein- oder zweimal täglich und den Zeitraum wählen. Mehr brauchte es nicht. Jetzt, nachdem das Ganze von Wem-auch-immer geschluckt wurde, ist die App ein Musterbeispiel für Verschlimmbesserung und Überfrachtung. Viele neue Optionen mögen ja ganz nett sein. Das sollte aber auf keinen Fall auf Kosten der Übersichtlichkeit gehen. hinzukommt, dass die App und der ganze Anmeldeprozess und das drumherum nun unglaublich kompliziert geworden sind. Dazu werden dann noch weitere Sachen abgefragt, die teilweise bereits vorher als Daten da waren. Links funktionieren oft nicht. Und einfache Funktionen, die man früher gut finden konnte, sind jetzt so nicht mehr oder schwieriger zu finden. Der ganz einfache Weg, nämlich, dass ich auf einen bekannten / bewährten Sitter gehen und einen neuen Einsatz auswählen kann, ist zum Beispiel auf der Startseite nicht mehr vorhanden! Daher meine Bitte: Macht das Ganze wieder einfacher und benutzerfreundlich. Und wenn ihr schon neue Optionen einbaut (wogegen grundsätzlich nichts spricht) dann bitte unkompliziert, so das alles funktioniert. ### 1/5 — Dogs vs cats *2026-04-09, version 3.1.0* Everyone knows that dogs and cats don’t get along. Well CatInAFlat just got bought out and merged with Rover, an app predominantly for arranging dog walkers. Of course it’s been an utter shambles from a sitter point of view. Loads of my reviews are gone, I can’t offer discounts for multiple visits a day and Rover want to charge additional fees for multiple cats in a house. Oh and now when people try searching for cat sitters on rover you get loads of results for dog walkers as well. They expect sitters to pay to “boost” their visibility in search results. A real shame. Rover have screwed the pooch. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Unusable UI, did a pigeon design this app? *2026-07-27, version 3.1.0* Since river came in the mix the app is practically unusable. I’ve been looking for 20’ how to modify the cost of my services. This is the least intuitive design if seen in decades and I also haven’t had a single booking since Rover took over even though I had plenty before. ### 1/5 — Rover messed up the app *2026-07-14, version 3.1.0* The original app wasn’t already good, now with Rover takeover it’s even worse, like if you’re not going to update it for the best why mess with it? Not to mention I get a completely different search results using the website vs the app. Luckily was still able to find a cat sitter, hopefully it will all go well, but this app is a disaster, is rover actually run by humans with brains and working eyes? ### 1/5 — Terrible *2026-07-02* I tried to sign up with Cat in a flat to be a sitter. This has to be done via Rover who they have partnered with. However there was a technical issue at the final stage meaning the payment they take to verify your identity wouldn’t go through. After many, many messages over more than two weeks, where I received standardised replies, and reassurances they were looking into it as ‘high priority’ it has still not been sorted out. They also said they would keep me updated with progress but I’ve heard nothing so still cannot register. Terrible customer service! If you want to be a sitter sign up with someone else! ### 1/5 — New version *2026-06-29, version 3.1.0* The new app is no longer efficient to find a cat sitter that leaves near where I am. The prices are much more expensive and platform no longer user friendly! ### 1/5 — changes *2026-06-25, version 3.1.0* have used cat in a flat for years. unfortunately now it’s been bought by rover it’s so much more difficult to use as a sitter. the new interface is confusing, i’m getting double notifications, one from rover and one from cat in a flat - even though i can’t access cat in the flat anymore !!! the pricing is different and not an upfront cost etc. as a cat owner not much may have changed, but as a sitter it’s just so unusable now and sadly puts me off . this would be easily rectified if sitters could continue on the cat in a flat app but till then i’m afraid i’m no longer comfortable with using the platform and may find another site. ### 1/5 — Merge with rover has ruined this app. *2026-06-23, version 3.1.0* I have loved the cat in a flat app for years as a sitter and for booking sitters for my own cat. The merge has made this app awful. The fees are ridiculous, dog sitters are priority over cat sitters so I’m not getting as many new bookings as before and you have to do a lrover card” which doesn’t work if you aren’t a dog sitter. I will have to go without the app because it’s just not the same. ### 1/5 — From the best thing to hell *2026-06-13, version 3.1.0* I used to absolutely loved this app. Ever since the merger with Rover, it has turned into absolute hell. The once-simple app is now incredibly complicated and glitchy, making it frustratingly hard to book my sitter. To make matters worse, my app is now completely stuck in Spanish with absolutely no way to change the language settings, even though the web version is in English! On top of that, the hidden fees have spiked, making it significantly more expensive for the exact same service. A once amazing app has been completely ruined by corporate greed. Avoid. ### 1/5 — Terrible since joining rover *2026-06-03, version 3.1.0* Terrible decision to partner with Rover. It's hard to use both as a sitter and owner, owners have been struggling with altering visits and payment. CIAF was absolutely fine before .... simple but done the job. Rover is known as a dog app... I regularly got new client's on CIAF, now that has stopped, luckily I still have old regulars. Such a shame. There is nothing good with this change ### 1/5 — No confirmation email after paying *2026-05-30, version 3.1.0* This app has gone downhill. I booked a cat sitter today and paid, no confirmation email came, and there is no way now to contact cat in a flat customer service. I booked through cat in a flat and the only customer service option now is to join rover ! The uk call centre support button goes to the rover app. Unacceptable as I booked and PAID though the cat in a flat app. Half the tabs don’t work, clearly they are having some issues, but still taking money ! I will not use this service from now on, it’s a joke. ### 1/5 — New version is a disaster *2026-05-28* I’ve used the app for years and honestly the new app since merging is absolutely terrible. Before, the service fee used to be around £1.50 for a booking, and now I was quoted nearly £35 just in service fees alone, which is honestly ridiculous. The old app worked perfectly fine. It was simple, easy to use, and I could easily find my favourite sitters and local people from my town. Now I can barely find anyone nearby and the whole thing feels messy and overcomplicated. I really think this merger is going to lose a lot of loyal customers. Instead of improving the app, it feels like they made it far worse and much more expensive for both owners and sitters.
