This was a waste of $4.99. I entered specific characteristics and the app shows random results not close to color, length, hairiness, pattern, etc. I was duped.

I was hoping for an app that I might be able to enter a photo for identification and this app does not have that function. I have an app like that for plants and it’s great but this doesn’t work that way. I can perform a search based on the characteristics of the caterpillar but it is frustrating when I am looking for a black caterpillar and it shows me dozens, if not a hundred photos of caterpillars of all colors, some which appear to have no black on them at all. I garden for pollinators but also grow some vegetables. All I want to do is to determine if the caterpillar destroying my plants is purely a pest, and how to deal with it, or if it is something I should just put up with because it will be a valued pollinator eventually. This app is of no use for doing this. I just wasted $4.99.
