Although it was published in the early 20th Century and may lack any discoveries made since then, it remains the most complete and scholarly work that I have found; and it's available to me in my smart phone! UPDATE: this app no longer works at all unfortunately. It was such as amazing resource i loved using and learning from it, but now i no longer am able to pull up ANY INFORMATION. 😢 i had given it a 5 stare review but now it gets one star. Otherwise, I'm not impressed. ### 3/5 — Good catholic reference *2014-06-22* This is the 1916 version of the Catholic Encyclopedia, the same one that has been available online for some time now. While it obviously does not include the insights from Vatican II on articles of a sacramental, moral, biblical, liturgical or ecclesial nature, it still serves as a great reference for lives of biblical personages and saints, church history, the development of western Christian (catholic) thought, and pre-conciliar trivia. I give it 3 stars because this app would only be of interest to those who are Catholic. ### 3/5 — Decent, search engine needs work *2014-03-25* The content is there, but unless you type exactly the title in correct letter sequence you can't access the article or person one is looking to find. For instance I typed pope Leo and didn't find it. But if I type Leo then it is among the list. When research really meant something. Before the diluting of words and political correctness poisoned thought, this was written. When Catholicism was known to be The True Church, this was written. No fuzzy wuzzy “your okay, I’m okay” set a foothold in the very chambers of Truth, this was written. A delight to read and peruse. A necessary reference.
