### 3/5 — Disappointed

*2023-07-20*

I have been using this app for sometime now. I enjoy reading and listening to The Word. I paid for it before and now I am being asked to pay again. The app runs quickly through the reasons and I am not able to understand what is said.

### 3/5 — Comment

*2022-01-22, version 2.6*

I would prefer to read the Bible without having adds flicking across the bottom of the screen. It is anything but helpful to concentration on the Word.

### 4/5 — Poor voices

*2021-05-20, version 2.6*

This app would be so much better if it was read by human voices not a computer generated voice that puts the inflections in the wrong place and mispronounces things. As it is it’s ok there’s a lot of voices to choose from and you can alter the speed to suit your ear. There is a gap in the market for a well spoken audio catholic Bible please fill it before someone else does, you have a great app apart from this.

### 4/5 — Request a Stronger Search Capability

*2021-01-21, version 2.5*

Very happy with the rest.

Thank you!

### 4/5 — I love it but.....

*2021-01-12, version 2.5*

I’m in love with this app but I don’t like the way the notes are highlighted and my notes stopped working in the book of Joshua.

### 4/5 — Review

*2021-01-03, version 2.5*

Love having the Bible available all the time. I use my iPhone and it is difficult to find the books and chapters. They are hidden and I have to guess.

### 3/5 — Thank you

*2020-12-08*

I do love the reading of this version and it’s simple presentation. It might be the device I’m using, a smaller I pod, but I’m often unable to view the beginning chapters of the books. Also, it would be nice if at the index for selecting a Book if they were all visible. I’d rather have the need of scrolling further down with all the books visible for selection than have some hidden to save space.
Thanks again,
Aaron Craner

### 4/5 — Loving it

*2020-11-28, version 2.5*

I really like it that I can access the NJB through my gadget, but I would definitely prefer it comes with footnotes as well... thank you and keep it up!

### 4/5 — Handy Bible App

*2020-11-25, version 2.5*

This app was recommended by a Nun to me when the lockdown began on March 2020, my constant companion eversince. 9 months later, I finally gave in to write a review for this app - just so it will stop buggin’ me. The idea to be able to use a pen with this app like a real book would be cool.

### 4/5 — Good translation clumsy user interface.

*2020-11-17*

Allow a swipe to the left or right to move back and forth between chapters. The next button is way to small and not intuitive. Allow user to choose back ground. Sometime a verse turns yellow and I have no idea why or how to undo it.

### 3/5 — Would love to see the commentary and footnotes

*2020-11-13, version 2.5*

It would be awesome if the commentary and footnotes were added.

### 3/5 — I love my old print New Jerusalem Bible

*2020-10-29, version 2.5*

The app needs help. I miss the footnotes from the 70’s edition and the ability to find book, chapters, & verse - without needing to go back and forth from what you call a table of contents to the text 5 to 10 or more times until I’ve finally found the chapter!

### 4/5 — Holy Scriptures

*2020-10-09, version 2.5*

Would be nice to add the real names of the apostles and Jesus.
Makes everything comes to life better than giving them an English name but it is a Great Bible. Also the real names of the places.

### 4/5 — Good Bible app

*2020-09-12, version 2.5*

This is the best Jerusalem Bible app. Footnotes would be a welcome addition. App is stable.

### 4/5 — Note

*2020-08-01, version 2.5*

It would be nice to be able to note take

### 4/5 — Flow

*2020-08-01, version 2.5*

I wish I could read the next chapter without having to go back to the index. Like the translation.

### 4/5 — Idk

*2020-07-26, version 2.5*

I like this app but the fake Jesus picture should go.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Audio doesn’t work

*2021-05-03, version 2.6*

I paid for the audio upgrade but it doesn’t work. Very disappointing.

### 1/5 — Hard to read or listen

*2020-01-08, version 2.5*

I would really like a real person doing the reading. Computer generation of voice is distracting from the lesson. Also the icon is in the way when a computer is reading, so that is also distracting if you are trying to read along. Trying to read without a voice is awkward when wanting to move to the next chapter.

### 2/5 — Daily Liturgical Readings Missing

*2020-09-19, version 2.5*

Having this option would be a great addition to this app. I love the Jerusalem Bible translation but having this option to click and have the daily readings would make the app fantastic.

### 2/5 — Malfunction on the app

*2019-11-17, version 2.5*

Display issue. Book names stay partially not visual. Could be related to last update.

### 2/5 — Distracting pictures

*2019-01-31, version 2.5*

How do I hide the long haired Spanish Jesus photo when the app opens? It’s off-putting

### 2/5 — The bible is wonderful; but the App is very basic

*2018-08-08, version 2.5*

Two major issues that I have with this App are:
1. There is no search function for words or phrase. Take a look at the New American Bible app and you can see how a search function is designed. With that you can search for words in different parts of the bible, such as Old Testament, New Testament or within a chapter.

2. Every time one goes to the table of contents, all the books in the bible are listed starting from the old testaments. If one wants to go to the gospels, which are probably the most popular books, one has to scroll down multiple pages to get there. Again, take a look at the NAB app, you'll find good tips on how to organize the books to save the users' time.

Another annoying thing about his app is the commercial of slot machines at the bottom of the page. People who read bible don't normally play slot machine at the same time.

### 2/5 — Fix the App

*2017-03-29, version 2.4*

Since the last update, whenever I press the tab on the top left to access a different book of the Bible, the App closes down.

Otherwise the App is easy to use and I would happily recommend it.

Please fix the problem.

### 3/5 — White text light background?!?!

*2025-07-15, version 2.6*

Good app except if you do make notes you can’t read them as the text colour is not changeable… it’s white on a light background…. Might as well not make notes

### 3/5 — Voice

*2024-12-30, version 2.6*

The audio voice is horrible, there are no choices.

### 3/5 — Disappointed

*2024-06-19*

I have been using this app for sometime now. I enjoy reading and listening to The Word. I paid for it before and now I am being asked to pay again. The app runs quickly through the reasons and I am not able to understand what is said.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Used App for 10+ Years

*2025-08-18*

No updates since I first used the app. Could look better. Just saying. Works great though. Would recommend to a friend.

### 5/5 — Bible presentation

*2024-04-05, version 2.6*

I’m not bothered about the audio. The Bible is colourful. Green paragraphs, red title, blue numbers at the beginning of each paragraph.the option of fonts in name & size.
Good enough for me. The book of sirach ( Ecclesiasticus) is there, most bibles don’t have it.Sitach must be read, it covers every area of your life a crucial read The main thing it is a app, I can read anytime discreetly.

the whole world doesn’t need to know you read a bible or that you are Christian, you keep that to yourself. Well done I am pleased with this app

### 5/5 — Good layout

*2021-12-03, version 2.6*

DMMM Very easy to read and access particular passages. Is it possible to include NJB footnotes which are excellent in printed NJB Bible?

### 5/5 — Just so Glad to Have This.

*2021-02-19*

Thank you for making this wonderful translation available deeply appreciated! Navigation to particular chapter/verse combos could be a bit more efficient, though it’s not bad at all as it is. God Bless!

### 5/5 — Please Add

*2021-01-06, version 2.5*

Nice app, although it would be nice to have a highlighter feature and not such a robotic voice. I would read it for you if you like! I do like the app otherwise!

### 5/5 — Very Handy

*2021-01-02, version 2.5*

I have everything that i need in this app. I seldom read the actual bible but just using this app to read bible and pray. I can mark the last pages i read yesterday and continue from that page the next day. As it os an app and on the mobile, i don’t need light if i m on the bed at night after all lights switched off. Good work guys n May God Bless your good work. Thumbs up

### 5/5 — Good

*2020-10-22, version 2.5*

Good version. I would like the footnotes that the Bible has though.

### 5/5 — My opinion

*2020-10-21, version 2.5*

### 5/5 — Thanks

*2020-05-21, version 2.5*

### 5/5 — Jerusalem old Atestament
