## What is CATHOLICA?

CATHOLICA puts the rhythm of the Church's year in your pocket.

Every day the app knows what the Church celebrates: the season, the week, the saint, the liturgical colour, the readings of the Mass. It computes all of this on your phone from the rules of the Roman Calendar, so it works anywhere, with or without a signal, for this year and every year to come.

TODAY - the liturgical day at a glance, tinted in the colour of the season.
CALENDAR - the whole year as a ring of colour; every feast, solemnity and movable date.
READINGS - the complete Mass readings for any day, with the full scripture text.
PRAY - a guided Rosary with a bead tracker, all twenty mysteries with meditations, the Angelus (or Regina Caeli in Easter Time), the Divine Mercy chaplet, the Stations of the Cross, litanies, and the essential prayers in English and Latin. Save the prayers you return to.
LEARN - the Holy Bible, all 73 books, with search; the Catechism of the Catholic Church, browsable by its four pillars or by paragraph number; and a plan to read the whole Catechism in a year.

Choose the calendar of Canada, the United States or the universal Roman Calendar, add your parish patron, set your preferred text size, and let the Angelus bell remind you at six, noon and six.

Made with care for every Catholic, everywhere. No accounts. No ads. No tracking.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.2.1 — 2026-09-25

• Every prayer written out in full — the Angelus, the Chaplet of Divine Mercy, the Chaplet of St Michael and the Seven Sorrows no longer abbreviate the Hail Mary, Our Father or Glory Be, on the page or in the spoken voice.
• Church documents: encyclicals, apostolic letters and the Catechism now open in a clean, full-screen reader.
• Gentle scrolling effects: parallax pictures and a reading-progress line on long prayers.
• Small visual refinements throughout.

### 1.2.0 — 2026-09-21

• Novenas — 28 nine-day novenas to Our Lord, Our Lady and the saints, timed to the feasts, with a daily reminder, your own intention and a journal of answered prayers.
• The spoken Rosary and Stations of the Cross now pray all the way to the end on their own, and keep going with your phone locked.
• The voice reads each prayer in whole phrases, without pauses between lines.
• Fixes a jumpy animation on the Order of Mass screen.

### 1.1.0 — 2026-09-20

• Spoken prayers: tap the headphones on the Rosary or the Stations of the Cross and a warm voice prays with you, the beads move on their own, and the words light up as they are read. Pause and resume any time.
• The Mass in Latin and English, with today’s readings in their place and when to stand, sit and kneel.
• Stations of the Cross with an illustration for each station and the Stabat Mater.
• Confession guide with an examination of conscience.
• Documents of the Church: Vatican II, the great encyclicals and Canon Law.
• Listen to any chapter of the Bible, all 73 books, read aloud.
• Calendar for Africa (Nigeria), alongside Canada, the United States and the General Roman Calendar.
• Every rosary bead is animated: Hail Marys are white pearls, with a clear count of how many remain.
• New: Chaplet of Saint Michael, Chaplet of the Seven Sorrows, Litany of Saint Joseph.

### 1.0.2 — 2026-09-18

• Catechism sections now open the Holy See's own page from vatican.va, so you read the official text exactly as published.
• Divine Mercy chaplet and Litany of Loreto texts revised.
• New Licences page and expanded Sources with credits for the World English Bible (Catholic Edition) and other open resources.
• Your regional calendar (Canada, United States or General Roman Calendar) is shown on the Today screen and can be changed in one tap.
• Small fixes and polish.
