### 5/5 — Best Intro to Latin

*2022-09-20*

I have been teaching myself Latin for years now and I enjoy supplementing my studies with apps. Over the years I have found very few that really help to break down the grammatical structure and how to properly use it. This is the best app I’ve come across to really learn and practice like a classroom.

Great job on this, loving the new lessons from the recent update, and I hope you keep adding new lessons!!!

**Developer response:** it’s great to hear that you had a positive experience . Our team will be happy to hear that their hard work has paid off! We really appreciate your feedback and will do our best to improve the app for you :)

### 5/5 — Very useful tool

*2022-07-03*

This app helps you understand what case is necessary to string together a sentence. I love the feedback and the variety.

**Developer response:** Hi! We’re glad to hear you’re enjoying the app! Thank you for the review!

### 5/5 — This is fantastic but…

*2022-07-02*

This is an amazing and much needed app, I just wish it would stay to the same order of declensions, also there are some mistakes in the English translation e.g. we are teached, is not right… besides that it’s great.

**Developer response:** Hi! Thanks so much for sharing your feedback! It will help us to continue improving the app :) Have a great day!

### 4/5 — Great balance of fun and technical

*2022-05-02, version 1.3.9*

I use Duolingo for language learning, but have found it not the best for learning the technical aspects of a language I will mainly be READING. This app is really helping me get to grips with decoding declensions, conjugations etc. it proceeds systematically, and has enough of a game element to keep you motivated. I do wish the instruction was a bit more direct and explicit, but the declension lists etc are useful.

### 5/5 — Great app idea

*2022-02-25*

I have been starving for a suitable app to learn Latin. Thank you.

**Developer response:** We are pleased that you enjoyed the app. Have a wonderful day!

### 5/5 — Cattus

*2021-12-24, version 1.2.2*

A fun app that got me going happily revising and learning effectively Latin. I look forward to progressing and enjoying reading and writing the language. Very happy with the App.

### 4/5 — Makes you think!

*2021-12-08*

Great app. Simple to use. Study what they explain and test. That easy.

**Developer response:** Hi! We are pleased that you enjoyed the app. Thank you for the review!

### 5/5 — Easy Latin

*2021-11-21, version 1.2.2*

Nice and simple enough for my low skill level, thank you.

### 5/5 — Cattus

*2021-04-02, version 1.1.8*

Bardzo dobry program do samodzielnej nauki łaciny.

### 4/5 — Good addition to my Latin Apps

*2021-02-04*

I have a few Latin language apps. This is a good addition. A little more variety in each chapter would be good. Some questions pop up a little too often in each chapter. But otherwise I enjoy it!

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Не работает!

*2025-03-10*

Программа не работает посл последнего обновления не регистрирует новый аккаунт на все пишет что произошла ошибка. Кстати, а почему по дефолту стоит немецкий?

**Developer response:** Hi! Could you please provide us with more details about the error? You can send a message to our support team at contact@cattus.app, and we’ll look into it as soon as possible. Best regards - Cattus Team.

### 2/5 — Clunky UI and ambitious Pricing Scheme

*2023-02-10*

The UI for navigating from question to question is kind of clunky.

I don’t love there method of prompting the multiple choice options. I think I’d rather see a Rolodex method like apple’s timer app.

Why am I asked to quit or continue after every question when there is anyway an exit option in the top left corner? I shouldn’t have to tap twice to progress to the next question if I’m correct.

Answering questions and the check to see if the user is right is not conducive for one handed use. The first is too high and the second is too low. There’s too much negative space in the middle when questions run horizontally.

I didn’t get anything wrong when in was using the app, but in my short session it would have been nice to see the questions get harder or vary more.

The frequency of the ads, and when you are served them is not great. When you finish a section you are met with an ad. That’s not a great feedback for doing well.

I could see 24.99 a year if I’m getting something for it, but that price just shields me from ads. This benefit is too much a stick method of getting a consistent income stream.

It doesn’t indicate I’ll get anything in return beyond not being punished for continuing to use the app.

**Developer response:** Hi! We are precisely following suggestions to improve the app. We will definitely consider your opinion for the next update. If you have any more feedback, or suggestions on how we can improve the app even more, please write us at contact@cattus.app Have a great day!

### 3/5 — Nominative-accusative mistakes

*2025-12-13*

I think the application is incorrectly applying nominative–accusative in some answers.

**Developer response:** Thank you for your feedback. Could you please report the issue directly through the app or email us at contact@nestedn.com? We’ll look into it right away.

### 3/5 — 🤔 hmm

*2024-06-01*

Ok so it is a really good app but some things are missing. 1. You don't explain what each sentence exactly means, 2, You don't know if your close to acing the level untill you complete it. And 3, Why so old fashioned? It is a good app, but I prefer Duolingo.

**Developer response:** Hello! A significant update will be released soon to enhance the learning experience and update the app's design. Thanks for your feedback!

### 3/5 — Ok

*2021-10-27*

It’s a good app to learn conjugations and sort of learn sentence structure but it doesn’t tell you what every sentence means. You don’t know how far along you are in a lesson until you complete it. And the variety of phrases/sentences per lesson is limited so it gets repetitive. It’s free which is nice.

**Developer response:** Hi! Thank you so much for sharing your experience! We will definitely take it into account as we improve the app. Best of luck for your studies :)

### 4/5 — Great!

*2025-09-12, version 2.4.15*

I like the learning model. I use it with another app which allows me to read sentences to decipher their meaning, but what I like about this one is that it also makes me type out the latin to recall it. I want to suggest that you make the grammar cards the first steps in the lessons and also that you make the “use only” section hidden until you ask to see the words you should use — so that we have to try to remember them first! I love the app, though.

### 4/5 — The learning method suits me

*2023-10-14, version 1.6.11*

I’ve only done a couple of lessons, but I find the leaning method suits me best so far. I have only one suggestion is that it’d be great if it includes how to pronounce the words too.

### 4/5 — Very well made

*2023-10-11, version 1.6.11*

If like me, you are learning latin on you own with books then this app is a great complement!!

### 4/5 — Better than duolingo for Latin

*2023-06-23*

Could justify supporting a language learning app that was so woke so I went with this to brush up on Latin. Pleased so far. I wish there were more classical/ecclesiastical sentences.

### 4/5 — Pretty cool

*2022-07-10*

I took Latin in High school so a lot of this is familiar. Hoping you add a pronunciation narration later down the road.

**Developer response:** Hi! We really appreciate your feedback and will do our best to improve the app for you :)

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Good for beginners

*2026-01-17*

I like it judging by what I’ve seen so far! It’s pretty good, not too many adds, I like the grammar part which is something a lot of apps miss. I can see how it might not be great for more experienced people or something, but it’s really good other than that.

**Developer response:** Hi! Thanks a lot for your review! We’re really happy to hear you’re enjoying Cattus and that the grammar explanations have been helpful.

### 5/5 — Perfect

*2025-09-08*

Honestly learned more than I did with Duolingo

### 5/5 — Perfect

*2024-08-06, version 2.0.6*

This is perfect cause I know the experience of learning Catellano and Valenciano both Spanish languages and the verbs are actually very difficult for beginners because I am actually good at Castellano the most used and commonly called actual Spanish even in mostly in the state of Valencia but when I met the verbs in Valenciano,… I still fail exams in this subject

Well this is perfect to boost 100x your learning of Latin
Cattus + Duoling + (libros —> books) = 100% Linguae Latinae

### 5/5 — Najlepszy

*2024-05-23, version 1.6.18*

System przypominający stare duolingo, gdzie mieliśmy dostęp do gramatyki i bazy nauczonych słówek, chyba najlepsza aplikacja do nauki łaciny z Appe Store na ten moment. Sprawdziłem z 10 aplikacji ta była najlepsza.

### 5/5 — Optime

*2024-05-05*

Salve. Gratias tibi. Vale.

### 5/5 — Much needed

*2024-04-24*

A lot of apps teach Latin vocabulary, and a lot of Latin curriculum teaches grammar. This is the only app I’ve found that helps students make the leap to memorize declined nouns and conjugated verbs as quickly as basic vocabulary.

### 5/5 — Much better than Duo or Mondly

*2023-10-25, version 1.6.13*

It’s leaps and bounds better than most of the other apps. Good contextualization of declensions and useful words. Small caveat is that sometimes later Latin words are favoured when they’re less relevant, such as "cattus", ironically the name of the app, which didnt appear in writing before 75 A.D. and was still seldom used at that point, although a distinction developed between "fēlēs" (regular domesticated cat) and "cattus" (tomcat), the former is much better reflection of classical Latin words.

### 5/5 — Great Application

*2023-06-20*

I’ve been using this application for over two months consistently, and I can honestly say that I’ve learned a remarkable amount of Latin. I’ll be recommending this application to anyone whose interested in learning or supplementing their learning in Latin.

It would be wonderful if an application just like this could be created for Ancient Greek. Regardless, the creators have done an amazing job. Please keep expanding the lessons and features. I’m sure there’s so much more to learn of this magnificent language.

**Developer response:** Thanks so much for sharing your experience and for your suggestion! We will definitely take it into account as we improve the app. Best of luck for your studies :)

### 5/5 — Exceptional

*2023-04-12, version 1.6.2*

If there are any history geeks much like myself who wish to speak the language of the ancient roman’s this app is a tremendous tool . It’s method is simple and easy to navigate with results quickly noticed. I’ve tried a few quite costly. This is free but still the ad free version as well next to nothing. Imagine the cost of a tutor .
My complete backing you must give this a try

### 5/5 — Very good app

*2022-11-17*

Quite good on all fronts with creative and useful features. My only suggestion is to add the ability to view the charts in NGDAcAb as well as the currently available NAcGDAb.

**Developer response:** Hi! We’re glad to hear you’re enjoying the app! You can describe us the suggestion in more detail to contact@cattus.app. We will definitely consider your opinion for the next update.
