The old App wasn’t great by any means. Half the stories were weeks old but this new App is ten times worse. Why even bother, CBS? All this App does is drive readers to your competitors. ### 1/5 — I had to update but yuck *2020-07-13, version 1.0.16* It only appears as about 2x3 inches on my iPad and doesn’t rotate as do ALL OTHER NEWS APPS I HAVE. This is the worst functioning, most badly designed news app you could possibly imagine. It really should be rated as zero stars. ### 2/5 — Notifications don’t direct correctly *2020-07-13, version 1.0.16* Half the time, when you open a notification it just opens to the app home screen. Also, it doesn’t seem like the home screen refreshes to the latest stories. Orange County local stories are always just advertisements for things like “7 best convenience stores in Irvine.” Also, app stories just redirect you to the browser. I’m using the app because I don’t want to always open stories on a browser. ### 1/5 — Seems like an Alpha version *2020-07-10, version 1.0.16* The whole app is very sluggish (won’t scroll smoothly). Because of that you have to leave your finger in one place for a while waiting for it to respond so you can scroll. When you do this it thinks you’re tapping on a story and sometimes acts like a click instead of scroll. App can barely be used. I’d be embarrassed to have put this out. The CBS app that preceded it was better but they recommended switching to this one. ### 1/5 — Terrible *2020-07-09, version 1.0.16* Your first app was wonderful. This app does nothing but crash. Seems like a good source for info. ### 1/5 — Do not download the new app. EXTREMELY glitchy. *2020-07-05, version 1.0.16* So earlier this week my KCAL9 app stopped streaming live and I have to download this new version. This new version keeps crashing, takes extremely long to load, and when I’m using VPN the app will keep crashing. Without the VPN, when it’s the only app running, it will crash, and my phone will crash also, or it will severely slowing down the phone for about a minute. How come you guys don't take advantage of the iPad big screen advantage and quality as well??? Don't you guys have tech knowledge to do it in 2023 yet??? Not easy to read, I’m alway feel annoyed when trying to find a news story. Of the 4 local news app, they are not the worst - that honor belongs to KNBC channel 4, so bad I deleted from my device. This is the equivalent of having your cellphone in the wrong position during filming. In addition, when a breaking news notification pops up, clicking the link only opens the app, but you still have to search for it. By the time you find it, breaking news is old news, you’ve missed the boat. 😡 ### 1/5 — Terrible App *2021-08-18, version 1.3.0* How is it even possible to have such a terrible app for Los Angeles when your running two separate Great channels off of here? For one thing it is beyond annoying not to be able to read and view in Landscape (most people use iPads in Landscape), your videos take Forever to load or simply don’t load (I have no problem loading others), I’m not going on. Kindly get a NEW App designer who will Give LA an App that represents us. Your coverage of LA is SPOT ON, Not the Fluff but Please not White. For example, when governor Newsom is giving his updates about COVID-19 you guys always tell us to head over to CBSLA to watch the rest, but what if we don’t want to watch the rest, what if we just want to watch the news and not the updates? Now they do and it’s worse. They like to give you a 30 sec ad (which most apps do) but the part that Kills me is that the Ad Stalls and you have to reload the story. I wanted to see about a fire in my area and the ad stalled 3 times!! Yes I have WiFi with 200mb down. Should be enough if you ask me. It’s not my connection, more like their app cause more frustration then I need just for 1 story. I will be looking for other news app from here on out.
