The my permits map is slow, like the recent news/changes update feature but it works. The earlier non-functional my permits map is working and appears up to date. Thanks for getting this feature back up. This is a great app. Haven’t tried in the last few months contacting the support team and developer so don’t know if they are responding again or not. There are other alternatives like CCW or ConcealedCarry but I have used this one for years and am glad they are able to keep it going. Congratulations LegalHeat. We’ll keep going forward together with you. ### 2/5 — My carry map error *2023-01-03, version 2.4.3* It worked when I first got the app but after a while, My Carry map shows “500: Internal server error” message. And update feature does not work on iPhone 8 screen size. I need to attach Bluetooth keyboard to select OK button to proceed with update. The last I checked, the app still incorrectly shows that the state of Delaware does not have magazine capacity limits. But it does as of mid 2022. ### 2/5 — Used to be a great app *2022-11-29, version 2.4.3* App used to be a great tool to check state laws and where you could and couldn’t carry. Last several months it just says server timeout and has become useless. Shame. Legal Heat is very good about keeping the data current (which is important to me living here in the People's Republic of New York). ### 2/5 — Don’t get sucked in. *2022-08-24, version 2.4.3* This was a fine app for which I paid years ago to be “ad free”. Ads appear now anyway. I’m not paying for the “privilege” again. In addition, downloads no longer contain complete information for each state, and the part of the app that shows the states where my permits are honored has been broken for months. I will no longer rely on the information I see in the app. ### 2/5 — Has potential but frustrating bugs *2022-08-11, version 2.4.3* I like the app but it won’t let me update my carry map. When I try to edit my permit info it says “500: internal server error” My carry map is the most important part for me. The new format looks great & makes it even easier to use. Worth more than triple the price of the app. Just GET IT!!! You won’t regret it!! ### 2/5 — Ads make it unusable *2022-07-15, version 2.4.3* Good info, as far as I can tell , but a full page mace ad pops up after about 30 seconds in the app. There is no way to minimize it, and it never goes away on its own. Exit app completely, rinse and repeat. Contacting the support team and developer goes unanswered. Luckily there are good alternatives like CCW or ConcealedCarry but I had subscribed for years and wish they had been able to keep it going. Always updated with the newest state and federal open and concealed laws. Very nice to have a quick reference map of the affiliated states that honor your permits. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Can not update current laws *2023-08-25* This was a 5-star app. My go to CCW app, head and shoulders above the rest that I’ve tried. But now, I can not update the current gun laws. I just keep getting an error screen that says “Failed to connect to update server.” My state recently had sweeping changes to its gun laws and the app doesn’t reflect those (or any other states). If they can get this issue fixed, it’ll go back to 5-stars, but as it stands, having out of date gun laws makes this app unusable. ### 1/5 — Update *2023-07-14* Several days ago it started can’t connect to server so I have been checking several times a day every day a week or more. Sent email to developer to see if I could get an answer but no reply. Have uninstalled and reinstalled nothing changes. My internet has been working fine. I even shut off wifi on my iPhone so I was using data to make sure and no change. ### 1/5 — Long Time User *2023-01-05, version 2.4.3* I purchased the original version of this app prior to the “subscription” model. All worked well until then. After the subscription version was released, I was unable to access the app. Finally had that addressed but now, I open the app and it shows that there is an update available. I select the “update all” and the update freezes. The only way to get back to the app is to close it and reopen. I have been trying to install this update for several months to no avail. I have sent many, many requests to support describing the issue over the past several months and never received a reply. An app like this MUST be up to date to be of any value. This app CAN’T be updated and is now useless. DO NOT PURCHASE THIS APP…there is NO SUPPORT. **Developer response:** Hello Irving, we DO NOT require a login to access the state (concealed and open carry), federal and transport laws. All you have to do is click the "skip login" button if you do not wish to create an account. The fact that you are again leaving a 1 star review with incorrect and misleading information immediately after we are pushing out a new update to the app is suspicious that your review may not be legitimate. In your last review you said you were deleting the app, so leaving a review immediately after we push out another update is curious. Again, a login is NOT required, that was the entire point of this update. The content is all entirely FREE. The only "ads" we currently have are one simple banner ad along the bottom of the page. They will always only be firearm industry related and we are working on some fantastic discounts on products that will only be available to app users. However, if you do not wish to see the ads there is the option to continue your subscription (which is the same price it has always been). We look forward to continually updating and improving the app for years to come, for free, for the many millions of concealed permit holders across the United States. It says it needs to update, but the “button” it references doesn’t exist. Go to the App Store, no option to update. On my carry mapI go to validate my email. And when I click the link I get a message saying “error true reason not found” it would be a really convenient app to have if it actually worked. ### 1/5 — Done…and Gone. *2021-07-08, version 2.4.0* Even though I had a paid subscription (ad free) good through February 2022, Legal Heat’s developers did something that resulted in ads appearing when I opened the app, and one of their advertiser’s (Sportsman’s Warehouse) website was opening up even though I did not click on the link! And I COULD NOT CLOSE IT! I called Legal Heat, we exchanged emails and texts, and they still as of yesterday, don’t have it fixed. Totally unacceptable…I deleted the app, and deleted them from automatic renewal…they are gone. ### 1/5 — Unwieldy and unresponsive *2021-06-15, version 2.4.0* While I used to recommend this app for concealed carry holders, I’m changing my app. The reciprocity map now requires email confirmation. Why? What does my email have to do with whether a state accepts my CCL or not? The changes to the app have made it less effective instead of more effective.
