It has many repetitive info dumps that could be consolidated for efficiency. It absolutely needs Apple Wallet support to be taken seriously. Fishing (no pun) for the app in a sea of hundreds on an iPhone is no fun when the warden is waiting. Add Apple Wallet (as other states have) support ASAP. ### 4/5 — The step in right direction *2026-02-22* The app feel a bit raw, but I think it’s a step in the right direction. There’s is no sense in carrying physical copy of the license when you have your phone with you. Here are few wishes/comments: Apparently you cannot use the same account you already created online with this app, you have to try-register then link them (inconvenient); I wish I can use app for lobster reporting as well (why on earth I need to carry that stupid card with me?). I wish I can specify the location and harvest method (freediving) and have a tailored regulations with fish search and id guid. And add an interactive MPA map. ### 4/5 — Finally my license is accessible on my phone. *2025-09-28* Love that we finally have a digital license versus carrying around the ridiculously long receipt like license. Couple more requests and this would be perfect. 1. Let me buy licenses and renew licenses through the app. 2. Since weather and solar information is already provided, adding a widget for high/ low tides would be phenomenal. ### 2/5 — Can’t create account from app *2025-08-27* You can’t create a new account directly from the app, even though it says you can. You have to go to the website first, register, get your license, and then log into the app. ### 2/5 — WHY DO I HAVE TO KEEP LOGGING IN??? *2025-04-17* No other app that I have on MY PHONE do I have to continuously log-in on. Why can this app not retain my credentials??? I understand if I go to the online sales page of the WEBSITE, I need to sign- in, but to display my licenses on the app ON MY PHONE, can’t the app remember who I am??? ### 3/5 — Why can’t it remember who I am? *2025-03-26* I don’t use the app daily. But, I have a lot of apps I don’t use daily. Almost all of the others remember me, and don’t require me to sign in EVERY TIME!!! I’m able to login on the website just fine, but trying to use the same login in the app and it fails. ### 3/5 — Almost *2024-05-13* I’d say it a good start but I’d like to be able to tag my harvest via the app. If I’m not carrying my physical license, I’m likely not going to carry the physical tag. Texas has had an app and ability to tag your harvest for a while so it’s a possibility and that would auto populate the harvest report. Just go into a tackle shop or sporting store and get your license, save yourself the time and frustration. ### 1/5 — It doesn’t even let me register my ID *2024-11-16, version 2407.4.22* The crucial bug is it only let you register yourself if you have driver license. Green card, doesn’t work. Passport, doesn’t work. It’s great there is now an app to show your license. Next step in my eyes is a fishing regulation map that is up to date on the app that you can download before going to places without service. Also, making the report cards virtual so you can enter and record fish information on the go. I think this would allow for more complete records for CDFW.
