### 4/5 — Very comprehensive.

*2013-03-13*

It is great to have so many features in one application. I had a monitor water app, a med reminder app, and a food journal and this combines them all in one. As well as many other features. It would be nice if a person could edit food intake for a previous day. Still trying to find out how to do that.

### 4/5 — Pretty good

*2012-06-24*

I stumbled across this app and have found it helpful for logging what foods are triggers for my reflux. The main issue I have with it is that it's difficult sometimes to log food. If you search for foods, for example "coffee," it gives you a long list of highly abbreviated possibilities which I can't find any way to expand (so I can read the complete description to make sure I'm logging the right thing.) some name brands are included and some aren't. Could use some improvements but overall a useful app.

### 3/5 — Ok, but needs more options

*2012-04-16, version 1.5*

Needs a way to record severity of custom symptoms - as Crohns's and other auto-immune disorders can affect so many different areas, would be nice to record severity of these anxiliary symptoms on a scale of 1 to 5 (ie. eyes, skin problems, joint pain)

### 4/5 — Helpful tool

*2011-10-10*

Good information and suggestions for dealing with reflux

### 4/5 — Useful

*2011-09-18, version 1.3*

This is a great place to start looking for obvious patterns or food reactions. Need some IBS knowledge and bit of artistic licence with use. Deserves 4 out of 5 plus it's free!

### 4/5 — Good way to keep track :)

*2011-08-16*

No one likes to talk about this stuff but when it disrupts your life, it is nice to have a way to gain support and log GI symptoms. Thank you.

### 3/5 — Good start but room for improvement

*2011-07-31, version 1.1*

It looks nice and includes most of what you need but a couple of areas need tweaking; it crashes when you try to add symptoms, you can't add notes, on the pain section, it doesn't include back pain, in the medication section, you can't input for when you take 'one or two' of something 'up to' however many times each day or 'as required'. You also can't enter information after the fact and tell the app that it was an hour ago; you input as it's happening. So all in all, not big things and its free, which is lovely x

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Can only log present day

*2017-01-12*

As soon as it hit 12, yesterdays log was gone and I couldn't find it anywhere. This app had was perfect, quick and simple while being detailed enough to be of benefit, but what's the use of a log that only saves the current day? There is none, I need to delete the app and hope I find something similar.

### 2/5 — Not terrible but glitchy.

*2015-11-19, version 2.3*

Cool idea, better than other free ones but it's glitchy. It doesn't keep daily logs organized properly (i.e. Mixes up days that food logs are made, saying meals I logged yesterday are "today's" logs, and consistently separating the days part way through, even when I select the correct day while making the log (maybe an inherent time zone issue?)... Also sometimes duplicates logs that I make or lists each food item twice. It would also be much more useful if the app could identify correlations between types of food eaten and illness occurrences. Like flag repeating incidents or at least graph both food and illness together on a chart when creating reports. Currently it's almost impossible to find patterns when all reports are separate.

### 3/5 — Needs updating

*2023-09-26, version 3.0*

It manages to be the most helpful (and free) gut health tracking app, while also having the UI of an app made ten years ago. This makes it hard to use, especially since it’s so unorganized in layout and design. I will say though, it has a lot of very useful content and features, which is what’s keeping me using it. I feel as though, if updated to the current standard of app, it could be incredibly useful for many people.

I don’t really expect anyone to read this, judging by the other reviews, but if you are, thank you!

### 3/5 — Updates?

*2023-06-13, version 3.0*

The latest review is 4 yrs old from Toddlemadiaon. I agree with what is said. I would like to have the ap on both my iHome and iPad -the one screen is a bit small for me to use easily like the kids do - I’m a 72 yr old short sighted pensioner! And the days do get middled up - Is there a way to adjust the clock? I am happy to use it since I can quickly add info but end up creating a spread sheet to sort out the days and times for myself. Since I started with it I’ll keep going but will look for something that’s a bit more ‘user-friendly’ and up to date.

### 3/5 — Interesting

*2018-12-28, version 3.0*

How can I sync it from my iPad to my iPhone
It keeps track, but will it do anything else
I just downloaded it this morning, and am wondering if I’ll be able to see more than one day at a time

### 3/5 — Try Cara instead

*2018-02-20*

I can't use this now since I have the stoopid iOS 11 downgrade but I had to take screenshots to keep an ongoing log. 🤷🏽‍♀️ Happily I found Cara and have been able to keep a handle on things with it and Life Cycle (with creatively named "activities" meaning "GI distress" and numbering from 1-7). Poo Keeper is another straight forward log for just the GI part (you can add pictures!).

I hope all you IBS folks know about the Monash University IBS app too. That'll help you figure out you can eat lots of strawberries… if you're lucky.

### 3/5 — Can't add entries to previous day's log

*2016-05-25*

Every time I try to add last night's dinner it adds it to the current day's log. Frustrating when I'm trying to figure out my IBS triggers.

### 3/5 — App Reviewer

*2016-01-09, version 2.3*

It is "okay" but needs work...problems encountered include incorrect date logging with food entries; cannot view/edit entries prior to January 2 2016; unable to delete/remove water reminder; regarding medication dosage, there does not seem to be a decimal point (i.e., .5 teaspoon could not be entered); the chart reports are a little messy. Overall I like the app but would like to see items fixed and perhaps add a "Stress" category. Thank you!

### 3/5 — Editing features

*2013-06-25*

Needs more editing feature. Like being able to edit foods, rating the severity of symptoms. Other then that this is a very useful app.

### 3/5 — Almost

*2013-03-12*

This would be a 5 star app if not for two issues

1. It is near impossible to search for food properly. I just add my own to mark the time and use a fitness app for logging the actual food

2. There seems to be a bug when it comes to logging stool. It always marks it as a 0 on the scale regardless of what is selected.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Fabulous

*2022-09-12, version 3.0*

After looking at many different apps for this i found this from you tube.this app is everything you need to monitor your gut if you are suffering with Colitis,IBD, the best app out there. I hope you keep improving it.

### 5/5 — Amazing!

*2013-11-17, version 2.1*

This app has helped me no end, I love that it gives you every option that you could possibly need and it's really simple to use.

### 5/5 — Great app!

*2013-05-24*

Just what I was looking for! Would like a manual time stamp option. But I'm loving it so far!

### 5/5 — Very useful!!

*2012-10-01*

I only use two apps for my Crohn's symptoms. This one and another called GIMonitor. They both track symptoms for me to then tell my GI doctor how my symptoms have been more accurately. I love the way this one tracks symptoms over the other. Plus this one tracks my water in take.

### 5/5 — Great for IBS and allergies

*2012-08-08, version 1.5*

Fabulous app! Easy to record symptoms, severity and how often they occur. I have irritable bowel and am trying to figure out whether I have a dairy/gluten sensitivity, also.
Also, it's free, so a no-brainer

### 5/5 — Cool

*2012-06-18*

This app is awesome it helps me keep track of my bowel movements which isn't very often that I poop I live this app helps me a lit I can't wait for constipation to be over it hertz good luck to all the people who have this and have a nice day

### 5/5 — GI Bodyguard

*2011-10-21, version 1.4*

This is a great app, I use this app every day. Great info, excellent.

### 5/5 — GI bodyguard for UC symptoms

*2011-10-13, version 1.4*

Just amazing! Saving me so much time and now i can have a minute by minute log of anything that could affect my ulcerative colitis. I hope it will help me to link food with my symptoms. You got to gibe it a try.

### 5/5 — A solution for my teen with Crohn

*2011-07-19, version 1.0*

When I saw this app, I could have cried. This is the first tool that I have seen that my son will use to track his digestive health. He's 13 and has Crohn’s since he was 8. He has trouble talking about what's happening with his body -- especially during a flare. Gi BodyGuard looks great, is easy to use, and PRIVATE. I'm sure our doctor will appreciate seeing all this important information in a clean, complete report and my son will be relieved not to have speak about every symptom. I know having a more complete summary of symptoms, medications and food will help our physician understand my boy’s health status and provide him with the best care.

### 4/5 — Very useful, a couple of bumps

*2013-08-04*

Thanks for this app. I've found it very useful! I am disappointed with the log in this new version (2.0). I like having the log with all the entries in cronological order with food, meds, symtoms & bm intermingled, but now it is hard to see much as it is right below all the buttons on the log screen. On my iPhone 4, I can barely see two entries. It would be nice to see the log on a single screen. Also, I cannot enter water in the past, it uses the current time always.
