## What is Cedulka?

Cedulka reads a product's barcode and shows you what the manufacturer declares about it — starting with gluten for celiacs.

Built originally for the developer's celiac daughter, the app focuses on the question celiac and allergic users actually ask first: "What is in this?"

WHAT IT DOES
• Scan any food barcode with your camera.
• See a clear summary of the declared gluten content: Gluten-free, Contains gluten, May contain traces, or Unknown.
• Highlights the 14 EU allergens you've added to your profile (milk, nuts, soy, sesame, eggs, …).
• Shows full ingredient list, product photo, and brand info pulled from the open Open Food Facts database.
• Photograph a restaurant menu and get a per-dish reading of the declared ingredients.
• Add a missing product by photographing the package — the app reads the label for you.
• Keeps a scan history so you can revisit results later.

WHY IT'S DIFFERENT
Most allergen apps make you read a long ingredient list and work it out yourself. Cedulka summarises the declared composition up front, with conservative logic — when the data is incomplete it says so rather than guessing, because a missing warning matters more than a false alarm.

YOUR DATA
Your allergen profile and scan history live on your phone. An account is optional: create one and your allergen profile syncs across devices, and you can export or delete everything you've stored at any time. No advertising, no tracking.

OPEN DATA
Product information comes from Open Food Facts, a community-maintained open database published under the ODbL licence. If you spot wrong data, you can fix it for everyone — see openfoodfacts.org.

IMPORTANT
• This app is an information tool, not medical advice. It is not a medical device.
• It reports what the manufacturer declares. It cannot account for traces or cross-contamination.
• Always check the actual package label before eating, especially for severe allergies.

CURRENT LIMITATIONS
• Czech and English only at launch.
• Coverage depends on what's in Open Food Facts. Common Czech and EU products are well covered; some private-label items may say "Unknown".

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.2.2 — 2026-09-24

• Yeast joins the profile, alongside lactose and wheat.
• Gluten: the word “gluten” itself and barley forms like “pearl barley” now count; “gluten-free” in text refuses a red, never grants green.
• “Lactose-free” in the name or ingredients is green, as the maker’s word.
• “Nutrition facts” and Nutri-Score are no longer read as nuts.
• The phone reads the packaging date; AI only when it finds none.
• An empty brand asks once before saving.
• Photos without camera permission no longer crash.

### 1.2.1 — 2026-09-11

• The profile now covers lactose and wheat, alongside the fourteen legal allergens.
• Both are marked as what they are: dietary restrictions, not Annex II allergens.
• A product no longer saves without a name and Czech ingredients — the form names the missing field.
• Onboarding invites contributions and can be replayed from Settings.
• The camera is only asked for when there is something left to ask.
• Relative times in History read correctly in Czech.

### 1.2.0 — 2026-09-08

• The detail screen shows every photo; your own can be deleted.
• The camera offers only the shots a product is missing.
• Photos survive a rotation.
• Ingredients are read on the phone and go with your contribution.
• A bell in History flags products whose ingredients changed.
• Sharper allergens — malt extract, egg yolks, "wheat-free".
• Slow loading says so, and tells a server outage from a device check.
• A failed photo upload is admitted; packaging dates are read for you.

### 1.1.0 — 2026-09-01

A big update.

• Family profiles and child mode: a YES / NO / ASK answer behind a PIN.
• Every verdict names the profile it was calculated for.
• An unreadably recorded allergen is admitted, not ignored.
• Ingredient photos from gallery or camera, with preview and rotation.
• Offer a product to the shared catalogue.
• Password reset by e-mail link; passwords saved to the keychain.
• Anonymous usage stats can be turned off in Settings.
• Share a verdict as an image; filter history by profile.

### 1.0 — 2026-08-31

No release notes.
