When you select the snippet there is no data to view so you always get the question wrong. The app updated to reflect v10, but it wasn’t really representative of the new questions v10 included. Any Questions containing images have issues because images don’t load. Paid for premium and not happy seeing that. I will update this review if they fix it. **Developer response:** We are working on fixing this already. Hope to get it fixed by the end of the month. ### 1/5 — app dev needs to read crash logs and fix *2019-02-16, version 6.7* All versions of the PocketPrep apps display the same problems. Frequent hangs/freezes, crashes, and lost data. Reading the device/app logs (by connecting device to Xcode) shows most of the problems are due to poor thread management. Long activities on the main thread being system halted after timeout is exceeded, or threads trying to dispatch work to themselves. This is sloppy coding. And, it’s obvious they reuse the same code across all of their apps. If I put my device in airplane mode, these apps do behave better... further confirming most of the freeze/crash occurrences are within the thread management of network calls and SQLite data updates (which is clearly indicated in the crash logs). I contacted PocketPrep directly about data loss from app crashes, provided details, got an automated reply, followed by absolutely no response from them. As much as I like the idea of these apps and the progress tracking features, it’s nearly addictive when it works, the reality is these apps aren’t stable and the metrics data is gibberish. In hindsight I should have spent the money purchasing additional books and avoided these apps like the plague that they are. ### 1/5 — good questions; garbage app *2019-01-28, version 6.7* app crashes constantly and contains too many bugs ### 1/5 — Unable to View Images *2019-01-24, version 6.7* I paid for the Ultimate version of the application and am unable to view the images on some of the questions. Please fix this as soon as possible. ### 1/5 — Looks and Functions Great *2015-11-11, version 5.2.1* But lacks serious material to be considered "test prep" worthy. Questions are closer to Security+ then CEH. Grammatical and spelling errors also exist. ### 1/5 — Not great *2015-09-08, version 5.2.1* Too many wrong answers and answers that don't make sense. Choices like encryption versus cryptography? Questions on ICMP reply types where there answers are flat out wrong. ### 1/5 — Very Inaccurate. *2014-08-16, version 4.0* I just took my CEH, and luckily passed. This absolutely was not my primary study tool, as a lot of the questions are actually from the CHFI exam. The wording of some of the questions are very bad, and feel like they're directly ripped from a poorly written VCE. There were also no questions which related to the new Mobile Device module of the CEHv8. This feels like a very hastily thrown together app to make a quick buck, and not something compiled by someone who actually knows the material. HCI issues: not being able to rotate the screen is very cumbersome. There needs to be some sort of swipe gesture to move between questions. The whole "like us on Facebook to get extra questions" feels a bit like extortion. ### 2/5 — Too many bugs *2019-01-01, version 6.7* I like the layout and the chapter by chapter selection for the tests and quizzes. There are far too many bugs though. Sometimes when you finish a quiz and click submit, the app closes and you don’t get your score. Trying spending 35 minutes taking a 100 question quiz and then not getting any feedback. The app also doesn’t track the volume of questions correctly. If you take the same quiz for chapter one over and over again, the app treats each question answered as a part of the total amount of questions answered for the entire pocket prep bank of questions. So for instance when you start the app reads “0 of 800 questions answered”, but if you take the chapter one quiz 5 times, at 20 questions a piece, it’ll read “100 of 800 questions answered”. By chapter 4 the app indicated I’d answered all the questions in the bank. The app also freezes between screens, it sometimes populates the answer for you for questions, it has some visual questions where you can’t even view the image they are trying to present so you can’t answer the question, and it repeats the same question in some quizzes. Not worth the money. ## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated) ### 5/5 — Great!!! *2019-04-15, version 6.7* It’s great! ### 5/5 — Perfect *2018-11-15, version 6.5.6* I strongly recommend not using the curriculum on this app as a memorization tool to take the CEH certification test. It gives you volume and page number if you have the EC Council books and I love that part. Even if you can’t or can answer the question, you can go back and read to get a full understanding of the scenario or question. It also gives you a break down of your practice exams to show you where at in the book you need to go back and concentrate more on. This is a great app and well worth the money spent so far. ### 5/5 — Application Working Again *2017-10-10, version 6.3.2* The questions are great with a large bank, however the application tends to work very slow and lags. There are many times that I get frustrated because I have to wait 5 minutes for a refresh or for the application to even work. ** The fix was to upgrade my phone to the latest iOS upgrade and reinstall the application. The con is that all of my historical quizzes and scores was deleted but the application is working again.
