### 1/5 — Bad Game

*2026-08-25, version 3.7*

Don’t waste your time with this game. I understand the premise, and that most games now a days need adds to survive and even adds to boost your gameplay. But come on, the game is atrocious at the beginning. I got past stage 1 after multiple tries, then stage two after another multitude of tries, and once I saw that stage three is just about the same thing, goodbye. What’s the point if I’m not having fun, and I’m not having fun being so underpowered that it just makes no sense to play it.

### 2/5 — Ridiculously Difficult, Too Many Microtransactions

*2026-08-25, version 3.7*

Fun in concept. I’m not very good at games by professional standards but I’ve grown up with strategy games and am generally pretty good at them. The levels in this game are simply too difficult. Even with DOUBLE the recommended strength score on EASY mode it’s nearly impossible to beat certain levels without a ridiculous amount of luck. The first few levels are easy, then the scaling of difficulty does not match the scaling of your character’s strength. I got stuck on stage 18. There are easily 10 different battle pass like subscriptions that are all overpriced. Unlocking new weapons is again impossible without spending a lot of money to get keys (talking 6-50$ depending on quantity) or having rediculous luck.
Uninstalled because I just couldn’t handle being stuck on the same level for days despite having tried every strategy I could think of. Wouldn’t reccomend unless you have 50$+ to dump in to this game to get decent items that scale correctly with gameplay.

### 1/5 — Scam ads

*2026-08-25, version 3.7*

Super fun game! But some of your ads are making my tablet buggy. Don’t be greedy take the time to check who is wanting to do an ad for your game.

### 1/5 — Ruined

*2026-08-25, version 3.7*

Whatever you guys did to the game, you ruined it no fun

### 2/5 — Briefly fun

*2026-08-25, version 3.7*

I was only able to progress to level 11. You have to watch ads to play, and they offer extra ads if you want to progress in the game. Now the game isn’t working at all, “Network error”, and I’m glad I didn’t spend money on it. Pretty disappointing, because it could have been a fun game.

### 1/5 — Lame

*2026-08-25, version 3.7*

It’s just pay to win

### 1/5 — Adds adds adds

*2026-08-25, version 3.7*

Honestly this game is extremely add heavy. It’s got a cool concept but just gets lost in all the adds and we want you to spend money on bundles bs. The adds are long and super repetitive for little progress. Unless you wanna spend a lot of money or watch hours of adds this game isn’t very enjoyable.

### 1/5 — Nerfed

*2026-08-25, version 3.7*

I actually went back and compared what changed instead of just saying, “The game feels worse.”

And that’s where the problem becomes pretty obvious.

Before the latest major changes, Cell Survivor was basically:

Play → earn → upgrade → get stronger → play more.

Then version 3.5 arrived on July 6 with what Apple describes as a major overhaul of the Pet and Multiplayer systems. (App Store)

And suddenly the progression ecosystem got a lot more complicated.

New pet progression.

Two-pet setups.

A new red pet reportedly requiring paid keys.

New skin shards.

Additional fund systems.

More ad-dependent rewards.

More premium progression.

More things to collect.

More things to upgrade.

And, conveniently, more things to spend money on. (Reddit)

Now here’s the part that really bothers me:

Where are the actual balance numbers?

If you’re going to substantially change the progression economy, show players the numbers.

Show us the old reward rates.

Show us the new reward rates.

Show us upgrade costs before and after.

Show us enemy HP scaling.

Show us weapon damage.

Show us drop rates.

Show us exactly what changed.

Instead, we’re expected to figure it out by grinding the game and wondering why our progress suddenly feels like we’re pushing a refrigerator uphill.

And that’s not a good way to communicate a balance change.

I’m not even going to pretend I have an official spreadsheet proving that ATK was nerfed exactly 20%, or that gold was reduced exactly 30%, because the developer hasn’t published those numbers.

But I don’t need to invent numbers to see the direction of the economy.

The game has progressively added more currencies, progression systems, events, ads and premium mechanics.

At some point, I’m not playing Cell Survivor anymore.

I’m playing:

Cell Survivor: Accounting Department.

“Congratulations! You survived the wave.”

“Great. What did I earn?”

“Three fragments.”

“Can I upgrade?”

“No.”

“Why?”

“You need the other fragments.”

“Where do I get those?”

“Event.”

“Is it free?”

“Technically.”

“How much grinding?”

“Yes.”

“Can I buy them?”

“Of course.”

“How much?”

$99.99

Oh.

So THAT’S the final boss.

The problem isn’t that the developers want to make money. They should.

The problem is when the free progression starts feeling deliberately restrictive and the solution is conveniently sitting in the shop.

I’m perfectly willing to spend $5, $10, even $20 on a game I enjoy.

But $100 should buy something substantial, not simply make the game feel playable again.

A $100 purchase should make me say:

“Damn, that’s a lot of content.”

Not:

“Finally, I can stop grinding the artificial bottleneck they just created.”

Cell Survivor still has a good game underneath all of this.

That’s exactly why this is frustrating.

Don’t punish the players who actually play the game.

Don’t turn every new system into another currency.

Don’t turn every event into another sales funnel.

And don’t make players reverse-engineer your economy because you won’t publish the balance numbers.

Give us transparent progression.

Reward gameplay.

Make purchases genuinely valuable.

Because right now the game increasingly feels like the developers discovered a revolutionary new survival mechanic:

Survive the enemies.
Survive the grind.
Survive the ads.
Survive the store.
And most importantly…

SURVIVE YOUR CREDIT CARD.

### 3/5 — Ads terrible but good game

*2026-08-24, version 3.7*

The game is very fun in my opinion. Some levels are hard, especially if your luck on skills is bad. Took a long break and came back, disappointed in the Ad changes the game has implemented. A 5-30sec ad that I can close out of I can deal with but a 200 second ad that you can’t skip that plays immediately after another ad is disappointing.

### 1/5 — Unplayable without ads

*2026-08-24, version 3.7*

Progressing in the early game is incredibly challenging without watching ads. This would be fine except you run out of energy quickly and the only way to get more is… MORE ADS!
