### 3/5 — Nice Product/No Customer Support

*2012-03-13, version 5.5*

Like the product.

The good: installs database and form to be used on iPad. Work flawlessly even when offline.

The bad: form is pretty utilitarian, no frills. Customer support is non-existent. I sent two emails to CS over 5 days ago and haven't heard anything.

### 3/5 — Interesting

*2011-12-06, version 5.4.5*

I was looking for a gateway to a large business database. What this PC+iPad app does is transfer the WHOLE database to the iPad so you can access it independent of a PC-hosted version of it.

Interestingly enough, there is another server in the picture - when you set up e connection with the desktop it isn't necessary to really connect the iPad to the PC. Apparently the vendor's server sorts the out with the UDID of the iPad and joins them up. I suspect the synchronization works even if the PC isn't currently running.

One huge problem in a multi-user environment is there are no "locks" on altered records. This means that a user with this can make changes to the data that other users will no see until a successful synchronization occurs.

I can't say I spent a lot of time playing with this, but as far as I got it seems to work fine.

For smallish databases, this seems like a good idea. For a large business database this is completely unworkable.

### 2/5 — Limited & not free

*2011-11-03, version 5.4.3*

Not suitable for complex DB's. Only handles one table at a time so any table relationships not dealt with. Not free, evaluation software with option to purchase later.

### 4/5 — Very useful

*2011-05-04, version 5.2*

I use this App when undertaking outdoor research. When in the field I can save data to my ipad and then remotely transfer it to my database at home via this App. Saves time, it's easy to use and it works well.

### 4/5 — Very useful data tool

*2011-04-16, version 5.2*

This is by far the most promising database app that I have found. It is very fast, handles most of the common data types, and allows for extensive customization. FileMaker Go has a much more polished feel, but it is slow. In addition, unless you want to work within the very limited FileMaker desktop application, manipulating your data requires a cumbersome exporting process. Cellica avoids those issues by syncing directly with your own Microsoft Access database, Excel spreadsheet or other modern data management platform.

Having said this, I want to point out that Cellica is not perfect. Forms developed for your iPad are very plain and look unpolished. The desktop software is a little unstable, and the syncing server software tends to crash or interfere with other applications. Also, it is obvious from the documentation that English is not the primary language of the developers. I do not intend to imply that English documentation should be mandatory for apps. If, however, a developer chooses to publish documentation in English, or any language for that matter, every effort should be made to ensure that proper usage is maintained. As it currently exists, the documentation can be unclear.

There is also the issue of the cost for a fully functioning database system (desktop and mobile applications). There current price is about US$40. That is costly for an app. Realistically, however, that is a very low price when some solutions from other developers cost more than that per month.

Overall, I have found Cellica to be the best solution to data for mobile data collection. If the developers resolve the bugs, correct the documentation and introduce a little more polish to the appearance of the forms, this will truly be a standout application.

### 4/5 — Vital app

*2011-03-06, version 5.0*

This app is vital to anyone who wishes to use older database programs and connect to the convenience of today's mobil platforms. It accomplishes the job neatly with very few glitches, after a slight learning curve. I would recommend this app to anyone with a serious data investment in older programs. Of special note: the wireless updating process is seamless. Thank you Cellica.

### 4/5 — Incredibly useful app!

*2011-01-24, version 4.8*

Create your Access DB and within minutes you can have a form designed, to insert, edit and update records. Very simple, but effective interface, synch works reliably, saved me lots of time exploring other methods. They have recently improved the form design to add alignment tools and also subforms.

### 3/5 — Database Viewer

*2011-01-19, version 4.7*

The Cellica Database for iPad (Database Viewer Plus) is an apt name when the full name is used, not the initial part outside the parenthesis. This IS a database viewer and IS NOT a database, with one exception - it is possible to add data to your desktop database using the iPad and have it snychonise effortlessly.
However you cannot interrogate the data on the iPad using only the iPad, but first have to establish how you want the database displayed on the iPad and then interrogate the original desktop database (in my case Access 2010), complete with sorts, filters and fields, so that it can be downloaded to the desktop edition of Cellica as a Profile. Once downloaded you cannot change the Profile by further filters, sorts and fields, but have to download another or different Profile to incorporate all such changes.
Once you have downloaded a suitable Profile you can then design a form for an individual record, or a form with a datasheet sub-form for a number of records, but again the design has to be carried out within your desktop edition of Cellica, not on your iPad. Finally you can synchronise that form with your iPad. You cannot test it before you synchronise it, so you almost certainly will have to revert to the design on the desktop to make minor or consequential changes and re-synchonise. Most importantly you cannot change the design of your form on the iPad, although you can change the appearance of the Profile in minor respects.
If you have correctly designed the form on the desktop it will give you the information you require on the iPad, but, if not, you will have to try and try again.
There does not appear to be a means of justifying the data within a field on the form, i.e. right, centre or left although you can justify a label. Nor does there appear to be a means of ensuring that currency is displayed to two decimal places, including two zeros for whole numbers. It does not appear that you can alter the width of the fields in the datasheet sub-form. Appearance of the final result is therefore unattractive. However the data is displayed and totals are accurate.
There is thus room for a lot of cosmetic improvement, which is why this only has three stars, but when you can properly alter the appearance of the display using the iPad, and more importanly, properly interrogate the data using the iPad, the App will become worthy of more stars.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Poor

*2012-10-30, version 5.6.2*

Looks like it would be pretty cool, if it were possible to create forms besides the two "sales" templates, sadly that does not appear to be an option. Also, I have yet to figure out how to add or delete records for a new database without using a form. At best, this is horribly difficult to use with a steep learning curve; at worst, it is non-functional.

### 1/5 — Still waiting for tech and sales support

*2012-07-13, version 5.5.4*

Please see previous post. Still waiting for tech support and sales support.

### 1/5 — Late after u pay

*2011-10-29, version 5.4.3*

Good product, but after trial period, I paid for a license and I have 1 day waiting for license key in order to activate my product. They do not comunicate with u in any way, no email or phone call to justified the delay. There is no way to contact them, they dont answer phone calls neither.
I just read feedback on website and I am not the only one.
I'm still waiting.

### 1/5 — Requires a Windows PC to create database

*2011-07-22, version 5.3.5*

Completely useless if you do not own a Windows PC, plus you have to buy a $40 Windows app to design the database.

### 1/5 — Disappointment

*2011-06-28, version 5.3.4*

Only used 1 day. Wouldn't let me edit fields once a profile was created; had to delete the profile and recreate the whole thing. THEN, once I recreated the WHOLE profile, it kept crashing! Ugh.

### 1/5 — Not relational

*2011-06-25, version 5.3.4*

Pretty much useless as relational tool for MS Access as auto numbers can't be created automatically. May work as a flat file db but I rarely use it for that.
Very disappointed as the concept is a slick one and I made the mistake of buying without testing. Do try the lite version first to see if it works for your needs.

### 1/5 — Can't query

*2011-02-23, version 4.9*

There is no ability to filter, query or summarize within database viewer. I need something on iPad with more functionality.

### 2/5 — No loner as great an option for Access Db sync

*2018-02-11, version 7.1.1*

I have been using the app for over 4 years and loved the fact I could sync wirelessly, create custom forms with subforms, and select which tables and queries I want to sync. The form creation tool while good in function can be a challenge to get things to line up consistently and depending on your desktop resolution settings can produce drastic inconsistencies. Once you get beyond that the product itself has not been upgraded with any improvements in over a year and support has become suspect.
They do not do a good job of letting you know when there are updates to the desktop software. I had recent need to contact the support and they took a week for first response and the attempt to resolve a problem took many days of back and forth because support does not seem to work on US business hours, therefore they lost 1 star for that.
They loose another star because the software is not easy to migrate settings when you get a new computer and it's even worse when you upgrade your phone/tablet because they charge you more money to move the license. I have many apps on my phone that require a license and special configurations to connect to networks & devices but this is the only one that requires me to wait for the vendor support to respond.
Finally the community forums appear to be taken over by spam/junk and no relevant product postings in over a year.

### 2/5 — Could be better

*2012-02-25, version 5.5*

I can't get subforms to work at all. My parent child tables work fine in MS Access but when I create a subform and link the fields in cellica nothing is displayed in the subform at all. Deleted and rebuilt several times with same zero output. I have a device list and a port list with a linking field call device, as I said works fine in MS Access form/subform combination, pretty basic stuff, spend a significant amount of time thinking perhaps I did something wrong, but the design controls are pretty basic and there is no room for mistake. Simply doesn't work for me...therefore DELETE!!

Doesn't support database images, local mapping only....pointless.

### 2/5 — Only works on 32bit pc

*2011-12-31, version 5.4..8*

The pc software will only connect to 32 bit odbc data sources so if your running any databases as 64 bit then forget it - 64 bit version needed!

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Fantastique !

*2012-10-28, version 5.6.2*

Fonctionne très bien, comme un charme ! Beaucoup de possibilités et interface très conviviale. Merci beaucoup !

### 5/5 — Outstanding App!

*2011-07-31, version 5.4*

I tend to trust the Cellica Team to continue with the improvements. Requested some changes and fixes to include auto number generation and to allow grid control on main form for better navigation (I’ve very large database. i.e. > 650,000 records). To my surprise, both changes came in this release along with some great features (e.g. barcode reader using the iPad’s camera). If you want important database on your fingertip, get Cellica Database – you won’t regret doing so!

### 5/5 — Database Viewer

*2011-06-20, version 5.3.3*

The best DB app I have tried yet! Appart from one font glitch (not greatly important) I does exactly what it says on the tin no fuss.

### 5/5 — Nice!

*2011-02-03, version 4.8*

Was able to access my MS Access databases immediately. Needed some help to get at my Filemaker Pro data but Cellica tech support provided it promptly and competently. I like this tool and believe it will be valuable going forward.

### 5/5 — Fantastic

*2011-01-04, version 4.5*

I tie together various databases in Microsoft Access to provide easy access to information on a large number of contacts. This program ports that information out to my IPad making travel infinitely easier. The wireless update works flawlessly and the interface is exceptional.

### 5/5 — Great App

*2010-12-27, version 4.4*

This is just the app that I was looking for, to transfer about 5000 record, from my Access database on my PC, to the ipad. The software performed as advertised, I was able to move the data, create forms to view it and edit it. Great application.

### 4/5 — The BEST database in existence!

*2017-08-12, version 7.0.9*

I depend on this app for my profession and for many other things. It is very easy to use and performs as advertised. It sets up with no fuss, it adopts all common files quickly without error and finds the records the way I want them to. It's works with my home and network seamlessly. I've been glad to watch CellicaDatabase improve the product which improves my information management. It's the best! You won't regret it. Take a little time to learn it. It's not hard. By the way some of the databases I use come from a DOS-based OS from 1999. CellicaDatabase has no problem importing it, using it and entering in / recalling records.

### 4/5 — Great App

*2014-10-12, version 7.0.0*

I have used this App for a few years now and have found it very useful for data information when away from my Laptop. I have several queries on Access Database on my Laptop which I sync and get the search results very quickly on my iPad on the go which I find very useful.

### 4/5 — Cellica

*2014-09-29, version 6.6.5*

I'm in politics. I can create an Access DB and give it to several others with the enterprise version of this software and it self updates a single file by multiple users. About the only product that does so. The field widths can wander on the ipad platform which does frustrate me; however, no other product can do this, and the Cellica team does constantly improve the product. Steve A.

### 4/5 — Nice product - with good support

*2012-03-19, version 5.5*

This app does most of the things I expected pretty well and is backed up by a good level of support. I hit a problem when I updated my PC and the support team were most helpful.
