### 2/5 — Broken

*2016-09-08, version 1.0.61*

I just started a full-access subscription that includes online and print versions of CM. Access via the cermicartsdaily website seems OK and I'm sure the hardcopy won't disappoint. But, this iPad app doesn't allow access to the current issue or the archives as I expected it would. It only presents the September issue for purchase and back issues for purchase or as samples. Too bad. Until the app is fixed I won't feel like I'm getting the full value from my $50 subscription.

### 1/5 — Customer service could be better

*2016-08-17, version 1.0.61*

I recently upgraded to a new iPad and lost 2 years of issues from my subscription. Emailing customer support got me no response. With one month left on my subscription, I don't think I'll renew.

### 1/5 — Needs a lot of work....at least for my iPad!

*2016-07-09, version 1.0.61*

Each time I access this app, it opens in some random page! I tap and shrink the page in hopes of getting the top action line to appear and let me get to the library, but it isn't easy and takes many attempts!
Once into an issue, moving around is intuitive enough, but again, leaving the issue is frustrating in getting the action line to appear!

Needs touch screen updating BIG time!

### 1/5 — Was a great app.....

*2014-11-02, version 31.3.0.22.98649*

This app / magazine was awesome and never any issues with it until the upgrade to ios8. Now I can not go back and download previous issues. A search on the website yields no help in solving the problem until apple or ceramics monthly puts out an update it has become a waste of money. I got the tablet edition so I could have all my issues in one easy to find place and not have a million issues lying around. Dumb and double dumb. Please fix!!!'

### 1/5 — Unstable

*2014-09-22, version 31.3.0.22.98649*

Repeated error message: Cannot download item. Please reopen app and download your purchase.

Repeatedly followed instruction in error message and still cannot download issues for which I paid. No support. I will not renew tablet subscription, waste of $$.

### 1/5 — I guess they take their ratings seriously

*2014-02-12, version 1.0.19*

Just subscribed for a year, so the app showed that I could look at the current issue without a back issue fee. Started reading, didn't even get to the first article and it asked me to rate the app. When I said no the app closed and when I reopened it, it didn't recognize the subscription and wants me to pay for the issue I had just started. Are subscribers required to rate the app? I certainly want to rate it now!

### 3/5 — Not quite there yet, but a good start

*2013-07-24, version 1.2*

I love the 360 view photos and the ability to see many photos of work. My major complaint would be that iam only able to look at one magazine, the current issue. I feel that when I pay for a subscription, previous issues I've paid for should remain available for future reference. This alone will likely cause me to not renew if it's not changed.

### 2/5 — So So

*2013-04-17, version 1.1*

I've been wanting to have access to an app like this for a long time, I am not that pleased with it. For the price of you don't get that much, all I can get access to is the March issue...I do like the videos that come along with some of the articles...I hope that with time they will fix all the bugs and have an app worthy of their magazine...

### 1/5 — Disappointment

*2013-04-15, version 1.1*

This is a sad disappointment. This has not completed downloading after several weeks and numerous manipulations to attempt in getting a complete download, including contact the magazine and iTunes, to no avail.

### 2/5 — Not so good

*2013-04-10, version 1.0*

Cannot expand text and photos as with other magazines' apps. Contacted CM and was referred to the Apple support website. So really no support for this app. What a disappointment. Wish I had just purchased one issue rather than a year's subscription. Will not renew or recommend to anyone I know.

### 1/5 — So disappointing!

*2021-10-23, version 8.4*

This is the most frustrating app I’ve ever had! So so disappointing!

### 1/5 — No Access

*2021-10-20, version 8.4*

No physical magazine and it won’t show up in the app without asking you to pay again for each magazine. I’m disappointed because I was looking forward to reading these issues. I worked with their team and have a really basic iPad config and no luck. I had to cancel.

### 1/5 — Bad App

*2020-10-09, version 8.4*

I was able to access my digital subscription once this year, but then started receiving error messages that there was an issue with my subscription and to contact customer service. I tried deleting and downloading the app again. That didn’t help. I contacted customer service and they told me to delete the app, sign out of my Apple account on my iPad, sign back in, and then download the app. That wiped out the entire years worth of issue. What a waste of money. ☹️

### 1/5 — Please Read!

*2020-03-28, version 8.3*

Ceramicists beware. Call CM before you purchase. The wording about the subscriptions are very misleading. Clarity of what you purchased is confusing. My god in this day and age of no-paper “magazines” you would think they would have this streamlined. CM you are losing subscriptions! I guarantee it! Look at you numbers compared to the 90’s. You need to make the subscription easier and understandable. Come on CM you owe it to the ceramic artists out there that believed you were the standard of quality.

### 1/5 — Won’t acknowledge subscription

*2019-11-17, version 8.1*

This is the most frustrating ap. I have paid for my subscription, but it doesn’t acknowledge it. It says I have to subscribe, but when I go to the subscription it says I am already subscribed. I have paid for a years of issues and can’t open any. There is also no contact information to figure it out. Very upset that I have paid for this service and can’t read the issues. Any help or suggestions?

### 1/5 — Buggy and no support!

*2019-08-08, version 8.1*

Sometimes won’t open, sometimes will open but not allow me to see Calls for Entry. Worse, there’s no support! When you contact Ceramic Arts Network support, they can’t help because you didn’t subscribe with them!

### 1/5 — Can’t log in

*2019-02-08, version 8.1*

I’m a subscriber but it won’t let me read anything. I try to log in and when I put in my email nothing happens. It doesn’t ask for my password, just closes the login window and everything still says it costs money.

### 1/5 — Wonky

*2019-01-18, version 2.1*

When I can access my issues the app is lovely, but every month I have to contact Ceramics Monthly. Tiring

### 1/5 — Ceramics Monthly app

*2016-09-20, version 1.0.61*

I just wrote a negative review and it would not send so I'm trying again. The kids cannot get this app to even let us do a simple log in. Go the old route with the www. thing in the address bar for CM, PMI, or Potters Council.

### 1/5 — OK, its broke

*2016-09-16, version 1.0.61*

I understand the app is having some issues. Been subscriber to iPad app for 3 years years, print for 15. Went to re-up and it didn't have any problem taking my money. That part is not broke. I've also lost all of my back issues that I paid for. Spent a lot of money with CM over the years. Drop a few of those dollars on an IT guy and get back up or send me some hard copies. Enjoy the mag, don't think this is all being handled very well.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — MUCH better!

*2017-02-09, version 1.0.63*

This is much better than the original version of the app! Great way to take my CM issues with me!

### 5/5 — A Great Online Version

*2016-11-08, version 1.0.63*

This is a great way to view and interact with Ceramics Monthly. Great publication and lots of great tools

### 5/5 — Enjoyable

*2015-08-31, version 31.3.0.22.98649*

Have only used it for one issue but I enjoyed using it. I did not intend to subscribe but now I will

### 5/5 — Great App, read this if you're having problems

*2014-11-04, version 31.3.0.22.98649*

Still a great app/magazine! IF you're having trouble accessing previously purchased issues after the latest iOS upgrade, this is what worked for me: hold down the icon until they all wiggle, hit the X in the corner of this icon & delete it. It warns you that doing so deletes files, etc, but do it anyway. Then go to the App Store and re-download it. The first time you open it, it downloads all your info on previous issues, and you're all set, ready to download what you want. How I knew to do this was that I had to do this same thing with Popular Photography, so it's not just a Ceramics Monthly problem.

### 5/5 — Ceramic designs

*2013-07-30, version 1.2*

The imagination of design and execution of that design is brought out in great detail in articles and photography in this magazine.

### 5/5 — Great controls

*2013-06-26, version 1.2*

A much better experience than the hard copy.

### 5/5 — Finally I can read Ceramics Monthly and watch the videos easily on my iPad!

*2013-06-04, version 1.2*

The 360* revolve is wonderful! The whole app is so easy to use. I had stopped accessing the website on my iPad because it was so cumbersome...this fixes all! Thanks so much!

### 5/5 — Yahhoooo

*2013-04-17, version 1.1*

I've been waiting for 2 years for this. My first tablet addition of CM is amazing! We have heated discussions at my home about periodicals and the volume of books packed into boxes and shelves! I resisted subsequent subscription after my first year because I can't bring myself to get rid of the monthly print version. You never know when you might need to brush up on carbon trapping after a fire goes "pear-shaped". I found it extremely easy to navigate, the photos and graphics are wonderful and just like every time I get it, it's cover to cover in one read. Today was the same.

### 5/5 — Ceramics Monthly IPad

*2013-04-14, version 1.1*

I love this new app, the interactive features are extremely helpful and informative, and it seems to be easier to zoom ~ only one criticism.

The cost of a subscription should automatically give the subscriber the digital iPad version and the hard copy. Please reward your subscribers with both versions or for a nominal additional fee give your loyal customers an option to purchase both~ without having to buy the Magazine twice.

I am looking forward to the rest of the digital subscriptions, I understand March is the 1st issue~

Thank you for producing a quality product.
Sincerely,
Sandra P from Carlsbad, CA

### 4/5 — Delightful...but...small corrections need to be made

*2013-08-01, version 1.2*

I am a beginning potter at a club for seniors in California and am hungry for well-presented information to help me improve my new-found passion.

This electronic magazine is such a gift. I like the presented glaze formulae, the 360° views of pots at a swipe, and the embedded mini-movie presentations. Movies are a form in which those difficult to master, muscle-memory techniques can be presented for a neophyte such as myself.

This is such good technology -- enhancing the learning and art appreciation experience. I can't wait to show this down at the club.

A couple of glitches:

(a) The words under the inset photos, such as in "Pinholing" in the June/July/August edition get jumbled and semi-omitted on the iPad

(b) Selecting to expand the second of the "Colors" in the "Mathew Chambers" article in the j/j/a edition causes the app to fail.

Thanks.
Ian.
