The person dm’d me and said he got my instagram from cerca… confused as to how this happened given I deleted the app and haven’t been on it in a year. You have to give full access to your contacts 2. No profile within an hour drive 3. You only get like 10 profiles to look at 4. The idea behind the app sounds great; meeting people through mutual connections and creating a more trustworthy dating environment. Unfortunately, after actually using it, I’ve found the experience to be incredibly frustrating. The biggest problem is the severely limited dating pool. I can go days without seeing anyone new, and I haven’t had a single selection available for the past two weeks. That makes it extremely difficult to actually use this as a dating app. Then there’s the requirement to invite friends. I understand the concept behind connecting people through mutuals, but it becomes frustrating when you’re essentially being asked to recruit people just to make the dating pool functional. A dating app shouldn’t feel like I have to build the user base myself before I can actually use it. And despite the limited number of people available, the only two matches I’ve received so far turned out to be sextortion/fraud attempts. That was an incredibly frustrating and concerning experience. I’m not saying Cerca itself is responsible for those individuals, but when the dating pool is already so small, having your only matches turn out to be fraudulent makes the experience even worse. I also have serious reservations about the contact-list access the app requests. I understand why mutual connections might be part of Cerca’s concept, but giving a dating app access to your contacts is a significant privacy concern, and I don’t think users should have to feel like they’re sacrificing their privacy just to have a functioning dating experience. At this point, I’ve spent enough time trying to give Cerca a fair chance. Unfortunately, I can’t recommend it based on my experience. The concept is interesting. The execution, at least for me, has been extremely disappointing. ### 1/5 — Beware of scammers *2026-08-09, version 21.0.11* First of all, 10 profiles every 16 hours doesn’t make me match with anyone I remotely find attractive or interesting …that takes sifting through a lot of profiles. Getting 10 a day that all suck is just a waste of time. So that’s not a perk. When I do match, at least so far, it’s been crypto investment scammers pretending to be real people because there’s no verification system in place. ### 1/5 — This app is wack *2026-08-08, version 21.0.11* I’ve been using this app for a couple months and yea u get to see mutuals but just to be clear. Its randoms people that so happen to know ur “mutuals” and on top of that its people that u dont even know that are ur mutuals, people u rarely talk too that know them apparently. And no one swipes up on ur feed. Filters mean nothing and nearly every other account shown to me was obviously a scam using photos from some pornstar.
