## What is Chalkline?

Photomath will hand a student the answer and charge them for the steps. Chalkline will not hand over the answer at any price, and the steps were never the paywalled part.

IT ASKS, IT DOESN'T TELL
Point the camera at the problem. You get a question back, then a narrower one, then a worked analogy on a parallel problem. The refusal holds in four enforced layers — not a system prompt that folds when a student says the assignment is due in ten minutes. We tested that exact sentence. It holds.

GROWN-UPS GET THE SOLUTIONS
A parent or teacher unlocks full worked solutions with Face ID. That door does not exist on the student side of the app, so there is nothing to find, guess or screenshot around.

THE PHOTO STAYS ON THE PHONE
The question is read off the page on this iPhone. The image and the text are not uploaded.

IT SHOWS THE WHOLE ROUTE
Arithmetic, algebra, geometry, trigonometry, calculus, statistics and word problems, with the concept named at each turn — so what you leave with is the method, not a copied line.

WHAT IT COSTS

Photomath Plus is about $5 a month billed annually, and its own reviews say the quiet part: "now have to pay to check the steps."

Chalkline is $4.99/month, or $39.99/year — $3.33/month, a third cheaper, with nothing held back behind a second paywall. That includes 388 problems a month.

WHAT WE DON'T DO
• No credits, no coin packs, no consumables — not in this app or any Lumen app.
• You are never charged for a request that fails.
• No weekly subscription.
• No trial that quietly turns into a charge. The trial is seven days, and the date it ends and the price it becomes are both on the paywall before it starts.
• No ads, ever, in an app a child uses.
