I am a big fan of silvertoons everything but this app's forced Facebook connection is annoying and flips out my phone which wastes time. I left high stars because I trust the silvertoons brand and I assume you'll fix this to save the brand's name. Honestly I can't even imagine why it was built in to the design. It makes no sense and it ruins an otherwise decent app. But otherwise keep up the good work, people like me appreciate the resources and inspiration. ### 3/5 — Needs Fixing *2015-11-03, version 1.0* I agree, the app is great for coming up with new characters and unblocking the creativity of the artists' mind, but there's only a slight glitch to it. After first launching, after download, you can link the app to your FaceBook account, but after you close the app and then try to use it again - you're stuck in an endless loop of trying to link the app to your Facebook account. There is no end. Please fix this issue. ### 3/5 — Pretty cool but... *2014-10-17* I like love the suggestions and all the options. It's very customizable. The log into Facebook function is so annoying. Sometimes it malfunctions and I have to reload the app. I wish it worked without having to log in. I also don't like the sound effects. Sometimes I want an idea of what to draw when it needs to be quiet. ### 4/5 — Please read the product description before writing a review *2014-04-24, version 1.0* No offense meant to the other reviewers of this app, but will you people please learn how to use your damn eyes! This app does exactly what it's description says it does. It's an idea generator to help artists kick-start their imagination. If you want to actually see pictures, then why don't you go on over to Stephen Silver's own website and look at some of his excellent cartoons. With regards to this app however, I only rated it 4 stars because it hasn't been updated to fit the larger iPhone 5/5S screen. But aside from that tiny issue, it performs exactly as advertised. ### 4/5 — Simple and fun *2013-06-23, version 1.0* Really like it as I always had challenges in creating random characters. One thing I would suggest is the ability to reshuffle one category. Sometimes some category combos just don't fit ### 4/5 — Excited To Use! *2013-04-24* Overall I love what this app does. This morning I was stuck drawing and was thinking about Silvers pose book, but then found this. Exactly what I want (and cheaper :P)! Two things that I'm not 100% happy with. I understand wanting to show all of these on FB as a group, but I really dislike connecting apps to my Facebook. Even if they're just using minimal information, I just don't feel like sharing my profile info with ONE more company. I almost didn't open it because I didn't want to connect. If it could be an option instead of required that would be great. Also if you could somehow freeze your selection if you decided you wanted to add on one more element. For example I had the default categories opened and shuffled. I loved the combo but was curious on adding an expression. I unlocked it and hit shuffle thinking it would just shuffle that, but it shuffled all of the categories and I lost the combo I had. This is probably really picky/ I'll know for future to unlock any category before I shuffle. Overall excited to get some great drawings out of this!! ### 4/5 — Great Tool *2013-04-14* Just bought this app and it really does challenge you to think outside of your comfort zone and explore what you can and, even better, what you cannot do. It forces you to investigate, research and learn. At the end you get better. I never was able to draw a female hillbilly dragon that was cooking until now lol. Its humbling, instructive and fun. A couple of things that would improve the app would be the ability to rotate to landscape view when ipad/iPhone is rotated and to allow music apps to play in the background while drawing. Thanks again! ### 3/5 — Clarification *2013-04-12* It's a nice looking very simple, but useful app. I thought it was going to shuffle design elements and spark new ideas visually. It shuffles character traits (a good variety), and it's all text - no visual stimulus. Its like a MadLibs book. Personally, I misunderstood the description. But, It could double as an improv party game. Only small gripe is on the price compared to other apps. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Great idea with a HUGE flaw *2015-03-22* This was a great idea but unfortunately I was never able to use it. The app immediately stopped working after my first log in. After reading previous reviews, I've come to the conclusion that the app just needs an update to make it compatible with ios8 and above. Hopefully there's an update soon.. Would love to finally use this app for those days where my brain just needs a jump start ### 1/5 — Needs an update ASAP *2014-09-20* I love this app during artists block. It's a useful tool however it stalls and constantly asks for facebook connection whenever the app is opened. Even though it already is connected. And REFUSES TO WORK with ios8. Needs a severe iOS 7 update. ### 1/5 — Just a Random Word Generator! *2013-04-23, version 1.0* Wow how dum do I feel? Even at the age of 45 I, probably like many others, especially kids, thought this actually generated a picture. It does not. It is just a very simple and very cheap to make random word generator. So why charge £1.99 for it? Good quality business apps do more for less. There is not even any added value content such as examples, tutorials, etc, to justify the price. Kids are going to buy this and be very disappointed indeed. I feel a little conned and foolish. Im going to make a new app using the same off the shelf random word generator code for people to say how they feel when they buy an over priced app that fails to deliver. Categories: How stupid do you feel; how conned do you feel; how angry; how disappointed, etc - you get the idea. My one would come out as Victor Meldrew right now! ### 2/5 — Unnecessarily long time to open *2017-04-11, version 1.0* When you get to the actual character shuffle, it's great! But before that you have to wait for the app to open, then wait for it to open up facebook twice in your browser and app, confirm a thing, let the intro play, then you use the app. ### 2/5 — This all was great but doesn't work with iOS8 very well *2015-01-12* Constant crashing and freezing on iOS 8. But used to really love this app. ### 2/5 — Interesting idea, mediocre execution. *2014-06-03* The app is quite slow, and crashes regularly if you don't/can't give it access to Facebook (not required for app, but app expects it). Screenshots show the title screen with example characters, but to be clear there are no drawn characters in this app. It is just an idea generator. Having said that, it is a useful tool for getting ideas, and does have a lot of potential outcomes (though while the description claims something like a quintillion combinations, this is likely technically true, but misleading as some fields only have a fairly limited range, where as other less important fields have way more - of the 40 or so character ideas I have generated, at least 13 have been crabs, for example). ### 2/5 — Kinda disappointed (partially my fault) *2013-04-12, version 1.0* I don't know why I thought this app would be more than it actually is. I think I thought it would actually create the characters you select by using overlays or something, but it doesn't - it does what it claims to do and tries to unlock the creative block by giving you random states: POLAR BEAR / SUNGLASSES / DIGGING A HOLE ...etc. That said, is what it does worth £1.99? No. Not really. ### 3/5 — Stops my music playing. Otherwise good. *2016-03-10, version 1.0* Like the title says, it's a good app but as soon as I open it, it stops my music playing. The other day I had dinner with my nephews and we drew giraffe lawyers who duel!
