One flaw though. *2022-12-16, version 4.2* I usually use this app name some characters, and I really like this app! But the thing is: When you click ‘Specify’ and Yk you press ‘Chinese’ ‘Non-Binary (Assigned male)’ (Example) and your not happy with it. You have to repeat the process! Gender, ethnicity, repeat. ### 4/5 — Only 1 Flaw with this Good App *2019-08-29, version 4.2* I like the app! It’s nice to find a decent name for a character when I write my stories. HOWEVER, the only thing the developers MUST ABSOLUTELY fix is the TEDIOUS process of going through the “Specify” tab EVERY SINGLE TIME you want a specific female or male character!!! This MUST BE IMPROVED ASAP!!!!!! For example: I want to find an English name for a male character. If the first name it gives me doesn’t sound interesting, to keep finding a male English name, I have to REPEATEDLY click “specify”, then the “MALE” gender, THEN *scroll* down to select “ENGLISH” and click Generate. I have to REPEAT that same tedious process OVER AND OVER until I find a name that calls to me or I like. PLEASE fix this!! It’s been like this for a year, I would be FOREVER grateful if it does soon! This app couldn’t get any better than that (: PLEASE and THANK YOU!!! Your opinions are hateful, Yoel, even if you don’t think they are... human beings have amazing and beautiful variety. I think it’s awesome to see an app created with that in mind. I would love to see traits added for different genres. Like a fantasy genre where it shows me fantasy races or whatever weapons they use. Id also love to see it generate things like hair color, eye color etc. A great idea I’m excited to see expand 👍🏻 ### 2/5 — Unable to save *2017-06-03, version 4.1* I'm unable to save sex and race before randomized draw ### 5/5 — !!!! If you ever need help coming up with one, this is very useful. This app is a little limited at this point, but it's still very useful. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Do not download *2024-01-15* The app does this thing where once you apply filters to it it generates one person using the filters and then doesn’t apply those criteria to the next person, which means you have to constantly go back and reapply the filters. It also doesn’t have a function that just generates names instead of an entire person (which would DRAMATICALLY improve the app), and there are very few ethnicities to choose from before generating your character. Some of the things don’t go together at all, and I don’t even know what ninety nine point nine percent of the words even mean. Also it’s just a bunch of words, when I read them it doesn’t sound like a real person in the slightest. IT’s as if someone sucked all those people’s souls out. So yeah, this app is no good. ## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated) ### 5/5 — This is an amazing app, though here are some ways you could make it even better *2021-05-11, version 4.2* I love this app! It is an incredible source to come up with a base for a character when you have no ideas! I do have a couple suggestions to add, though. You could add dislikes, a quirky random fact about the character, and physical characteristics. Dislikes make up a person just as much as their likes do, random facts are really helpful for the past of the character, and physical characteristics can greatly help in describing/designing a character. Overall a great app, and would definitely recommend. ### 5/5 — Ok *2020-09-21, version 4.2* Please update the app! I will pay one time to help support! I dropped it a star because when you specify the gender and their language? It works once but does not save those settings. So I had to reset it every time to continue looking. It’s vague enough to leave plenty of room for creativity, but it has plenty of information to guide you in a good direction! And I *love* that transgender and non-binary identities are included! I’m a trans guy and it’s so awesome to see representation like that in a character generator. You wouldn’t think it, but only seeing ‘male or female’ in literally everything gets pretty exhausting and confusing for people who don’t quite fit into only one or either category. There’s so much diversity in this that it’s perfect for any writer or artist or anyone who wants to create characters or build a world for them to live in. There’s really so much potential for this! I’m definitely using this app to help me create characters for my novels and webcomic! ### 5/5 — Hey Yoel Yo, *2018-07-06, version 4.2* No one friggin’ asked you about your opinion on the gender options in this app. It contains a well thought out system that offers plenty of options to choose from and is a fantastic tool for those people who cannot come up with a decent character name on the fly, perfect for stories and role playing characters for dungeons and dragons. There is no “social justice warrior” business about it. There are many options for many types of people without forcing an opinion down your throat. A name is not an opinion. Nor is a race, or a “tag” for a character’s gender. It’s just an option! Not all randomizers are perfect, so you may get some themes that clash, but sometimes that just results in a more interesting character at the end anyway. And if it doesn’t, take the name you like and regenerate the traits! It’s not that hard. Fantastic job. Thank you for creating something that many people will find use from. P.S., God cares for all people equally, anyway, even if they see themselves as different now than when they were born, and even if they don’t choose to believe in him, and even if they choose to act like total buffoons bringing up something that literally nobody mentioned, just because they felt like they had to make a comment about it that nobody wanted to hear. So please, next time you’re going to post something silly like this as A REVIEW on AN APP, think again and choose to love yourself and those around you instead.
