Unfortunately the app is plagued with issues. Aside from some features being poorly explained (looking at you hardware only page), but the app constantly loses connection to the Chargie so sometimes it doesn’t start charging and lets the battery drop low or it fully charges the phone. I’m sure some of this is IOS background limitations but then don’t advertise your product as compatible if it really isn’t. Also when enabling hardware only mode, if you open the app to check on things, annoyingly it will often switch automatically to app mode. Like the title says, great idea but definitely issues currently. ### 2/5 — Been using for years *2026-05-24* Well, it worked great for a while. Then iOS 26 seemed to have messed it up. I do not use schedules. I always want my phone to charge to 85% and stop. But, now it will display charging paused, yet continue to charge and i wake up with it at 100%. I have tried turning off every setting. Sometimes it will work, but most times it ends up overcharging. Guess I’ll have to get a new phone that can manage this on its own. As for the UI: The new look is too overdone! Everything is too big! It no longer fits on one screen, and whenever I try to scroll up or down I end up accidentally changing the charge limit. I have an iPhone 14 Pro Max, running standard zoom level. Please shrink the whole thing down! The battery image doesn’t need to be that huge. ### 3/5 — Was Marvelous, Now Only Works Intermittently *2026-05-16* Bought two Chargie-Cs at the same time thinking I would keep one in reserve just in case. The one I hooked up initially worked great, wonderfully, for the first 2 years. Then suddenly, and with mine it happened once iOS 26.0 was onboard, it stopped working consistently. It would always connect and find my phone with my settings intact but 50% or more of the time would permit my phone to charge to 100%. As of today, it has permitted 100% charge every night for the last week. So, clever fellow that I am, I got my spare out (never used since purchase) but discovered I couldn’t use it at all. The app simply wouldn’t find it and connect it. I followed the in-app instructions to the letter. No dice! I tried 3 days in row after subbing my original back in. Still no luck. So again, clever fellow that I am, I used the in-app ability to send a note to the developer asking for help. Sent the request 3 times over a week. No response at all. 3 stars for the time it worked. Would be 5 stars if it hadn’t crapped out on me, if the replacement had worked, or if the developer had answered my calls for help. For now, avoid this device and app like the plague. If an eventual app update solves the problem or the developer ever does contact me with a fix, I will change the rating to 5 stars because when it worked it worked beautifully! ### 3/5 — The new update won’t work *2026-03-16, version 2.6* The app won’t charge after update iOS 26. Half of the time won’t “find the device” and even it find it. It would drop it later. This morning my phone is dead. Don’t do it, just charge to 100%. The iPhone will keep it at 80 for you sometimes. ### 2/5 — Dramatic regression *2025-11-25* The Summer app update that made the app too cute and “glitzy” also made connection slow and unreliable. It no longer connects unless I pull the app into the foreground when I plug in the phone. Even then, it takes a minute or more to scan and to verify the physical connection. Too often it fails to connect at all, and I wake up with my iPhone 13 at 100% instead of 70%. I suspect the app update was to support Chargie for Laptop, which so far doesn’t work on my MacBook Air. It’s not clear if the whole Chargie enterprise will thrive, collapse, or continue to limp along. ### 2/5 — Problems with IOS26 *2025-10-19, version 2.3.1* I have been using the app for many years and have several Chargie devices. Since the release of the new app and IOS26, I need to constantly connect and disconnect the Chargie device for it to connect properly with the phone. Very frustrating. I hope they fix it. ### 3/5 — Good hardware, almost good software *2025-09-18* I’ve been using Chargie on my iPhone for a while now and it has been great. It would be a five star for the phone alone. But a few weeks back I got a Chargie for my Mac. The hardware is good, but the software can not read my battery state correctly. It shows 1% charge no matter what the actual level is. I’ve written the company, and used its ChatGPT assistant to try and figure it out. No reply from a human, and GPT directed me to putting the Chargie in hardware limiting mode. That works poorly at best, charging to around 45% and not restarting charging unless I unplug and replug in the Chargie. I really like the product overall, but the Chargie laptop software has left me disappointed. ### 1/5 — Does not work *2025-09-10, version 2.1.1* I use macbook m4 pro and it does not work at all, it is charging normally :/ ### 1/5 — Very disappointed, no support *2025-09-02, version 2.0.3* The idea is very good, but the implementation is a disaster. I've had this Chargie for over a year, but I've always had problems with Bluetooth connections between the Chargie and the iPhone. The Chargie doesn't automatically connect to the iPhone, so the latter charges to 100%, so you have to open the app each time to connect. I also tried to automate this connection with the Shortcuts app, with the same problem. I just reinstalled the app, and since then, there's no way to connect the Chargie and the iPhone via Bluetooth. I've sent two emails to the Chargie manufacturer, but no response. At least once a week, I find my iPad charged to 100%, despite Chargie’s setting to limit charge to 70% and allow a 15% drop. At first, they worked just fine, but then returned to their old ways of not recognizing the device despite it being in line-of-sight & force-closing the app upon waking. It now charges my iPad & iPhone to 100 despite giving me correct readings when I finally get the devices to connect. I hope potential buyers read this before purchasing. Since then they’ve updated the app and if I don’t remember to open the app when I plug my phone in the charger doesn’t work and my phone charges to 100 and stays there. I basically have to force quit the app every night and then reopen it right before bed for it to actually function and limit charge. Old app I occasionally had to do this once every few months, but now it’s nightly. Das Versprechen war, dass diese Anzahlung dann auf den Preis angerechnet wird, wenn das Produkt erhältlich ist. Nun ist es erhältlich und von dem damaligen Versprechen weiß man nichts mehr. Meine Emails wurden ignoriert und die 10,- EUR sind weg. c) Nach einem Jahr hat mein erster Chargie aufgehört zu funktionieren. Scheint ein elektronisches Problem zu sein, da ein zweiter, neuer Stecker weiterhin funktioniert. Mal sehen, wie lange der hält. Constantly pesters about bluetooth access. The hardware cutoff threshold does not save, immediately resets to default if you connect with bluetooth which is incredibly annoying. Many places in the app, including in the hardware cutoff threshold, it is impossible to read the full instructions, it ends with “…” with no way to expand to read the rest. A shame that such a great product is ruined by such horrible user interface. ### 1/5 — Used to work on iOS *2026-05-24* I don’t know what the update that they did. I have had these for about 3-4 years. Haven’t always worked on iOS devices fully. Usually, I have to go into the app to make sure that it connects to the correct charge (I have three of them , two USB A and one USB-C ) and then it would work. Ever since an update of late no matter what I do, plug it in open the app, make sure it’s connected before I leave it. It never stopped charging my iPad until 100%. It loses Bluetooth connectivity. Would not recommend anymore. This results either in the device (here: iPad on iOS 16), charging constantly or to not charge at all. This worked just fine before the big app overhaul. It’s to the point it doesn’t even work properly anymore. Despite the settings or schedule you set it just charges to 100% when it feels like it. I only wish you could schedule the scheduler. Like if it's after 8pm, use the scheduler, but if I plug it in at 2pm, charge it to 80 or whatever right away. I like the week schedule. ### 5/5 — Superb battery-life extender *2023-08-09* Apple’s native battery management is very poor for users with the goal of maximizing battery life, relying primarily on pattern recognition to, very temporarily, go a little easier on the battery in delaying the charge past 80%. My suspicion is that this is to help them moderate battery temperature as much as anything since the straight charge to 100% at max rate, especially if the phone is also updating apps from a mediocre wi-fi signal, can result in a very warm phone. I would never allow my EV battery to be treated the way that Apple insists on treating my phone battery, so Chargie’s multiple, user-controlled metrics are exactly the solution I was looking for. I am very glad that someone found this work-around for the lack of user options that Apple offers for something this significant that impacts the life, expense, and hassle required to use their device. ### 5/5 — Setting the record straight *2023-05-07* Chargie gets really mixed reviews and I can understand. Chargie is awesome, but it’s not perfect. I own about 5 Chargies. One, I can leave plugged in for weeks w/o issues; it just keeps working! The others… I have to resort to a workaround in order to have them be functional. Most of my Chargies I unplug when not using. If I leave them plugged in for a long time, they become non responsive. With that in mind, here are the steps I recommend for having your Chargies work 💯% of the time. - Step one. In Chargie app settings, disable all experimental features - Step two. Launch the Chargie app - Step three. Plug your phone or iPad into the Chargie hardware - That’s it! The Chargie app will now automatically try to connect to the Chargie hardware over Bluetooth. Give it 10-20 seconds. A lot of times, this connection is made even faster. Eg, 5 seconds 99% of the time, the above steps will lead to a perfectly functioning Chargie. If u follow the above steps and your phone will still not connect to the Chargie hardware, then follow these steps: - Step one. Completely unplug the Chargie hardware from the power source - Step two. On your phone, swipe up from bottom and hold for a brief moment to display all apps. Swipe up on the Chargie app in order to completely shut it down. Wait 5 seconds and then re launch the Chargie app. - Step 3. Follow step 3 from 2 paragraphs above Conclusion: The Chargie app and hardware are really handy for automated charging of your iDevice. While they are not perfect, if you follow the steps above, your Chargie(s) will give u years of trouble free service ### 5/5 — Love it! *2023-02-17, version 1.2.0* Does exactly what it does. I have Chargie A Gold Edition and Chargie C Basic Edition that leave quite a bit to be desired in terms of aesthetics but not so much when it comes to functionality. I don’t know any other product that offers hysteretic charging (which is basically micro charging and discharging at whatever battery percentage you want—how awesome is that!). Anyway, despite the price being on the steep side this product is worth it for me.
