## What is ChaseLight?

ChaseLight is a photography planning app designed for landscape, cityscape, and night-sky photographers. It helps you understand when and where the best light may appear before you head out.

PLAN THE RIGHT LIGHT

Explore sunrise, sunset, golden hour, blue hour, twilight, sunset glow, and Milky Way conditions for your chosen location and date. Clear time windows and visual guidance make it easier to decide when to arrive and what to photograph.

LIGHT AND WEATHER FORECASTS

Combine astronomical calculations with weather conditions such as cloud cover, visibility, wind, precipitation, humidity, and atmospheric trends. ChaseLight turns complex data into practical shooting recommendations.

NIGHT-SKY PLANNING

Evaluate Milky Way and night-sky conditions using Moon phase, Moon illumination, astronomical darkness, weather, and light pollution. If you have entered a Bortle class for a saved location, ChaseLight prioritizes it when assessing the night sky.

INTUITIVE MAP PLANNING

Plan compositions in three simple steps:

1. Set the camera position
2. Set the subject
3. Adjust the time

Visualize the direction and altitude of the Sun, compare lighting angles, and find a more suitable shooting time for your composition.

SAVED PHOTOGRAPHY LOCATIONS

Save frequently used locations with coordinates, notes, tags, photos, shooting direction, horizon obstruction, and an optional Bortle class. Quickly open forecasts, map planning, or a new shooting plan from any saved location.

MOON AND WEATHER DETAILS

Review Moon phases, illumination, moonrise and moonset times, hourly weather trends, cloud layers, wind, precipitation, UV conditions, and condensation risk.

SHOOTING PLANS AND REVIEWS

Create shooting plans, reminders, checklists, and post-shoot reviews. Record actual conditions, ratings, photos, and EXIF information to build your own location experience over time.

AR ON-SITE ASSISTANCE

Use supported AR tools to preview the direction of the Sun, Moon, stars, and Milky Way while preparing your composition on location.

PRIVATE BY DEFAULT

Your locations, plans, reviews, photos, and preferences are stored locally by default. Pro users can optionally enable private iCloud sync across their own Apple devices.
