So I decided to go online to pay. I did this last time when buying from another fast food restaurant. But after downloading and ordering, I am met with “Credit or gift card?”. Im trying to pay with apple and I can’t even do this on an apple store app. ### 2/5 — Payment compatibility problems *2026-03-06, version 2.1* 0-5 stars for online support 2/5 for app functionality and reliability Apparently the only way to get support for technical problems is to reach out to the social media pages. Turns out that you can only make purchases through the app with a credit card. (That information is not easily discoverable) Visa debit cards, Mastercard debit cards, and debit cards are not compatible for digital purchases. All variant of debit cards are sometimes compatible in store when scanning the QR code, but not consistently. ### 2/5 — Unable to use gift card to order on app *2026-01-22, version 2.0* I have multiple gift cards and checks their balances in the app and confirmed that I had enough to cover my entire order. However, when I try to pay using a gift card to ask for the passcode, I entered the correct passcode, but it said it was invalid. Some of my gift cards I still have them physically, but some of them I already threw away once I entered the information onto the app. For those that I have threw away the physical gift card, I can no longer use them on the app as I do not have the code. At the same time, those gift cards that I have physically wouldn’t work on the app as it kept on telling me that the passcode is invalid. I ended up having to pay with my credit card !! 🤯 This is really inconvenience and frustrating. It would be great to allow combining gift cards balances like Starbucks app or at least warn users to keep the physical gift card if passcode was needed to order with the app. ### 3/5 — Won’t send code *2025-12-29, version 2.0* Try sending it several time ### 1/5 — They removed the one thing they weren’t supposed to remove *2025-12-09, version 2.0* They removed the signature milk tea, brown rice green milk tea, and even genmaicha… one of the most aromatic drinks 😦 is this a distributor issue? plz add back. 🧎‍➡️ ### 1/5 — Terrible UI Locks you Out of Logging In *2025-11-12, version 2.0* Very poorly made app. I cannot log into my account because the reset password option does not work. Recently they stopped allowing ordering on their site and went to app only. I used the app successfully for awhile, but after it migrated I have been unable to log in. The one time I’ve successfully received a link after clicking forgot password, even with a changed password it won’t let me log in. I then tried to log in with my partners account and it told me the password was incorrect as well. I tried to create a new account since it seems my old one is lost and I cannot as my phone number is associated with my old account. This has stopped me from ordering Chatime for the last few months, which is unfortunate as we really enjoy their drinks. I’ve gone in to order in person before, however at my usual location they often make errors when ringing in the order (sugar level, or requested toppings like pearls) so I stuck with the app, as there were fewer mistakes with our order. I sincerely hope Chatime fixes whatever they broke in their app, because with another popular bubble tea place opening across the street from them, it’s unlikely I will return. I also lost several dollars in points with my account. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Horrible app *2026-06-26, version 2.2* There’s no option to continue or get support in the app if it states that your phone number already exists. ### 1/5 — App not working and nobody responds *2026-05-11, version 2.1* App won’t let you log in. Tried to contact them but no response. It’s been more than a year! Still no answer ### 1/5 — Terrible, useless and difficult to use *2026-04-29, version 2.1* There’s no way to see your order history in this app, so if you order something and go to pick it up in store, how do you prove it’s actually yours? App’s security seems to be really bad and I wouldn’t be surprised if they stored your credit card number in plain text since the form they use is so outdated-looking. Can’t pay with Apple Pay or any of the usual payment methods. The in-store kiosk has more functionality than this app. Also, I tried adding my VISA card to this app like 10 times in a row and I kept getting the same error about my payment method being incorrect, like what? Does this franchise even want paying customers? ### 1/5 — Login issues for 6+ months *2026-04-29, version 2.1* Won’t let you login. Won’t let you reset password. The sign in page just loops to “sign up page” and says you already have account. Uninstalled many times, still the same issue. Came back 6 months later to see if they fixed this issue and they still have not. Going to The Alley instead….
