Need option for “ed” “ing” and “s/es” *2024-06-04, version 2.5.0* I use this all the time with my functional core kids in high school. We have a lot of non verbal kids and this is amazing. However I am noticing there isn’t a way to make already existing buttons such as “want” plural. I shouldn’t need to create a whole additional button for the word “wants” and there are a ton of words that can also have an s added to them. Is there a way you could add a button that attaches “s” and “es” to already existing words for plural things along with “ing” and “ed” buttons that will attach to already existing words? ### 4/5 — Good app,some flaws *2023-11-19, version 2.5.0* I like this app,I am a teen with selective mutism and constantly struggle to speak in certain situations,this app is super helpful and makes it super easy to communicate. However is does crash on me and deletes some of my boards that I was working on. But I have downloaded app after app and this is very easily the best AAC app I’ve downloaded. (And I swear I have done just about every free one in the App Store!) ### 5/5 — A robust and powerful app. *2023-02-16, version 2.5.0* This app is honestly so powerful and useful. I genuinely love how simple and thorough it is. Though I do have two suggestions. For one, it would be great if even basic phrase boards had a folder option. Another would be to be able to link to other boards within the app instead of making new ones from the ground up. Also, the only irk I have with this app is how the grid tends to move when adding. It would be nice to have the grid laid out as set with each tile being editable instead of having to manually add each. Otherwise, truly one of the best AAC apps available. It is very easy to use and figure out and has a lot of fun voice options, all for free! I love customizing the pictures. My only problem is that there is no dark mode so the background is always a very bright white, hope they add low contrast in next update! I hope the developers have good fortune forever for making it 💕 ### 5/5 — Amazing AAC app that is FREE! *2022-12-08, version 2.5.0* What stuck out to me about this app is it’s a free AAC app that has the features of a paid AAC app (they charge $299.99 for lifetime for most apps). I was surprised to see that the app works pretty well. You can edit buttons, make it say things, and more! ### 4/5 — Sound hack *2022-12-06, version 2.5.0* Great for a free program but as I explored it the sound on preset program commands stopped. Like, no one can hear it. It does not work and makes it impossible to share boards between family members devices. ### 2/5 — App audio is bugged, need fix *2023-05-14, version 2.5.0* On version 16.4.1: Sound is bugged. It’s a great app to setup and use but after setting up a whole page the audio won’t play when tapping the tile or sentence. I was able to temporarily fix it by recording a personal audio for the tile and then revert it back to synthesize text. But upon closing and opening the app this un-did what I fixed and I had to do the same process to fix it. This won’t help because if my child closes the app I have to fix it every time. ### 3/5 — Good app, but tedious *2025-05-03, version 2.5.0* So, ChatterBoards was my first aac app. While I found it useful, I found it tedious to put together a page. I also didn’t really care for the robotic voices, so I decided that it wasn’t for me. Now, I’m not saying it’s a bad app. Just not for me. I will eventually come back to ChatterBoards once I have another device. I do recommend ChatterBoards for those that can’t afford something like Proloquo2go, and have to do things alone, as I did. ### 3/5 — Volume *2023-11-04, version 2.5.0* The volume won’t go up and I tried turning it up and recording my own voice and how do you edit the keyboard so you can use your voice ### 3/5 — Account *2023-01-15, version 2.5.0* This app is great but what I don’t like about it is that you can not create an account to save all your changes my brother mistakenly deleted the app and I have the start from square one again ### 3/5 — Desperate to use in my community *2023-01-10, version 2.5.0* But the sound stops working - any ideas on how to sort this? ## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated) ### 5/5 — amazing! *2026-03-16, version 2.5.0* this is very very helpful and simple to use. i like how its versatile. you can add custom pictures and voice recordings. and they have example photos for you so you dont have to go and find a picture for each word. my brother can use it easily. the app freezes rarely but if it does its no problem to just close and open again. ### 5/5 — I love this app *2025-10-13, version 2.5.0* This app has been a life changer my uncle who is nonverbal and has Down syndrome uses this every day ### 5/5 — This app is amazing for severe ME/CFS! *2025-04-28, version 2.5.0* I have a medical condition that causes me to sometimes lose most of my ability to speak and move, and during these health episodes I have a lot of needs that most caregivers wouldn’t understand without being taught… being mostly paralyzed and unable to talk is no fun, and so having this happen again was my biggest fear, until I found this app. I was so happy to find that is super easy to use with lots of different ways to customize it, and I was able to make several various boards which are all very intuitively simple. It is giving me a huge sense of relief to have this tool in case I ever lose my ability to speak again! My only complaint is that when choosing the icon picture you have to scroll through literally hundreds- they could make it easier to find the clip art you’re looking for with a search function, but I’m still glad this app is free and so great in many ways. ### 5/5 — simple and customizable *2025-04-04, version 2.5.0* Glad I found this app and now kid friendly and easy to use! We change boards every month to match our target words for our unit. I love how easy it is to add new buttons. Also so cool that I can share boards via airdrop! I can make boards on my iPad and share with student iPads. Also love that I can have it on my phone for moments when I don’t have student iPads with me. They can tell me what they need anywhere. Even better that it’s free! But I would pay for sure. As an SLP, people do not realize how important access to technology and communication is. This app hits so many check points for me. Excellent robust communication, user friendly, and it’s free!
