The free version gives you 4 chords and if you want more you have to buy the next level and then again buy the level after that etc. A really crappy way of selling an app. After trying the free version I expect to be able to buy the full program for one price but not here. Also not flexible as far as me being able to choose the chords I would like to work on on include my own chords. Sadly, instead of just setting a flat price for the full version, you have to buy each level as a separate transaction, which is tedious. Especially since many levels are redundant. I also wish you could play your wrong answer to compare the sound with the right answer. HOWEVER, I would like to see more feature, like the ability to guess based on notation as well as hearing. Also, the navigation and selection scheme is somewhat clunky to me an disrupts the natural flow of the game/tests. Also, how do you finish a lesson without erasing your progress? It looks like you have to do a ton before being able to stop or else you have to start again. I have been looking for an app to learn progressions by ear!!! I have only used level one so far, it starts you off easy with lots of repetition of simple chord changes but with great variety in the chord voicings. I use Tenorio, Functional Ear Trainer, and Open Ear for other aspects of ear training. I've been using the app for years and I hope the creator knows how grateful I am for it. If you're in choir and don't have the strongest ear for hearing inner tones, this app can help. I like to swipe up (or down) on individual chords try to "lock on" to a middle tone, sing it while swiping again, sing it while tapping to hear them all simultaneously, and finally trying to hear it by itself (no singing). I find this incredibly helpful to try to develop your ear ability to harmonize. Ideally eventually you would just use relative pitch after one note instead of having to hear it, but just take your time building up. Cheers! Thank you, Mr. Peters! ### 5/5 — Excellent path to real ear training *2016-09-23, version 1.4* This is the sole app (to my knowledge) entirely focused on chord progressions, an aspect of ear training that should be central in every serious program of music education because it is closely related to how music occurs in reality: progressing through time (as opposed to out-of-context chords and intervals). Ch! Ear will greatly help if you really want to know what is happening with the (tonal) music you hear. It'll help you to recognize inversions (therefore bass lines) and chord qualities in context. Chords, intervals, and scales identification drills are good only for passing antiquated music tests. If you spend time with this will take your ear from student to professional.
