Took back my low rating and update with this rating. ### 3/5 — Am I Missing something? *2017-05-03* Why does it only work in portrait mode? Otherwise simple if you are just checking age. **Developer response:** Version 2.0 just released, and it now works in all orientations on iPad! It’s a free update, but it requires iOS 11. Hope this helps! ### 3/5 — Worked good but limited after scan *2015-07-03, version 1.6* If you only need a name on a list after having extracted the driver's license info -- it's 5 stars for my bar code Washington DL. But if you want the detailed info to save for a file or a email or build a csv spreadsheet there wasn't an option. I have sent support a question for this feature. Hopefully it can be added. But simple fast and easy for what it does right now. Really need that exportability feature. There is better ones in the App Store stay away from this one. Suggestions are always welcome. ### 3/5 — Glitch? *2014-03-24* I scanned around 30 North Carolina IDs, all displayed the same birthdate, 03 July 1020, and only displayed the first name of the person. All the Canadian IDs I scanned only displayed the 993 year old birthdate. Other than that, every other state that was scanned displayed fine. **Developer response:** This is genuinely helpful feedback — thank you for taking the time to test that many IDs and report exactly what you were seeing. That kind of detail is what makes bugs fixable. The North Carolina and Canadian parsing issues you described were real, and the scanner has been rebuilt many times since then with much more accurate parsing across U.S. states and Canadian provinces. Suggestions are always welcome. ### 1/5 — Want my money back *2014-03-15, version 1.0.3* This was a waste of time and my life. Tried more than one ID and it didn't work. ### 4/5 — Good ID card reader *2014-03-04* I really found this app useful. Unlike similar apps, it does not have to go to the server to function. You can read a card even if you're not connected to any server by any means. Very disappointing. ### 1/5 — Not for Alberta *2018-01-26* This app will either accept of reject the age verification for Alberta drivers licenses but that’s it and won’t display any data or store it. **Developer response:** Hello! The app has greatly expanded its functionality since last you used it. Check ID supports a much wider range of ID types as well as mobile driver’s licenses, Passports and National ID cards. Barely works. Not sure why you decided to change your API but it simply won’t scan. **Developer response:** This customer contacted support regarding her confusion with what the app does. After multiple emails, we suggested contacting Apple Support to request a refund for her mistake. The app functions exactly as designed. ### 1/5 — Unsatisfactory *2015-02-03* I downloaded this app to use for my business unfortunately it does not work. Please contact me to resolve or provide a refund. **Developer response:** Check ID works by translating the 2D PDF 417 barcode on the back of most driver's licenses and identification cards. Everyone else is using Check ID successfully to scan barcodes. Once you buy it, it will just work! ### 5/5 — Great start! *2015-01-02* This app is definitely on the right track. The scanning is lightning fast with all the real IDs I've scanned, and slower or non scanning with some of the fakes, which gives you a convenient second to eyeball the patron. The most important thing to add soon is an alert for expired IDs. That is a huge problem for clubs/bars. Then I'd like to see different settings for age ranges & gender. For example one club I worked at allowed 18+ for girls and 21+ for guys. If I could hear a different tone for girls in that range, and set a different color for them to know quickly to draw Xs on their hands. Overall, this app is fantastic and I hope to watch it and it's developers grow and flourish for finally offering an app like this at a reasonable price. ### 5/5 — Wonderful app for Verifying IDs *2014-12-29* This app works quickly with all IDs I've tried. I check hundreds of IDs a day and this app is definitely worth the money. It's super fast and never has scanning issues. And for those of you giving bad reviews, maybe you are trying to scan a fake id that doesn't work. ### 5/5 — Flawless camera reader *2014-02-24* This app should be charging 4.99 for the fact it allows unlimited scans unlike others, because I would well worth pay to use this! Very simple interface and results are nice and clean.
