## What is Check In Together?

Check In Together helps people who live alone, and the people who care about them, stay connected with simple, regular check-ins.

FOR A PARENT WHO LIVES ALONE
They get a short call from an AI voice, or a text, once a day at the time you set for them. They don't need the app or a smartphone, just a mobile number that can get texts.

Nothing starts until they reply YES to our text, which tells them the check-ins are automated and use AI, and that you can read what they say and an AI summary. They can reply STOP anytime.

If a call or text goes unanswered, we try again a few more times that day, as long as a contact who agreed can be alerted. With the default settings, if a check-in is still unanswered an hour after its time, we text your contacts who agreed to get alerts and have alerts on. You're added as a contact automatically. If nobody qualifies, nobody is alerted.

On calls and texts, any reply counts as checking in, even one like "I fell", and so can a call picked up by voicemail. Don't rely on anything said during a check-in to alert anyone. A text alert can be delayed or fail to arrive, and a delivered one may not be seen right away.

WHAT YOU SEE
A short summary of each completed check-in, and a recap of what they've shared over time. Tap a recent check-in to read the conversation. AI-written summaries and recaps can miss things or get them wrong, and aren't medical advice. See where each emergency contact stands; if none has agreed and has alerts on, the app warns you when you open it. Look after more than one person from one account.

LIVE ALONE YOURSELF?
Check in by answering a few questions in the app, once a day at a time you choose. You don't need to give your own number, but setup needs one emergency contact's name and number. In-app check-ins rely on your phone, its notifications and a data connection. If your check-in doesn't reach us for any reason, including checking in with no signal, it counts as missed and your contacts who agreed are alerted, unless you reopen the app before the wait ends.

THE LIMITS
• It doesn't detect falls or emergencies.
• On calls and texts, a missed check-in alerts contacts only after the wait has passed. Nothing is sent when something happens between check-ins. With one check-in a day and the default 1-hour wait, about 25 hours can pass; with the longest wait, about 44 hours on calls and texts and about 8 days in the app.
• Each missed call or text check-in sends at most one alert text to each contact who agreed. We never call your contacts or emergency services.
• Unanswered calls and texts are retried at most 5 more times that day (6 attempts in all), even after contacts are alerted, and not at all if no contact who agreed has alerts on.
• After three missed days in a row, call and text check-ins pause. Contacts who agreed get one notice, and then nobody is checked on or alerted until the account holder opens the app; contacts aren't told when it resumes.
• Reinstalling or a new phone starts a new account; the old one can't be recovered and its contacts may get an alert.
• Check-ins by text and call, and alerts to contacts, work with US phone numbers. English only.

AI AND PRIVACY
Every completed check-in is summarized by AI (OpenAI for voice calls, Anthropic for summaries). Call audio is processed live by our AI provider; a transcript is saved. We don't sell your data, don't use advertising identifiers, and don't track you across other apps or websites. Settings → Delete Account stops all check-ins and alerts and permanently deletes your schedule, history, summaries, recap and contacts from our database. It can't be undone.

Check In Together is a check-in and text-alert tool. It is not a medical device, a monitoring service or an emergency-response service, and no one at Check In Together monitors check-ins or responds to alerts. In an emergency, call your local emergency number (911 in the US). Message and data rates may apply. Support: support@checkintogetherapp.com

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.4.0 — 2026-09-30

This update is about being straight with you about who will actually be reached — and looking after more than one person.

• Fixed: check-in reminders could go missing after you reopened the app or used Test Check-In.
• Look after more than one person from one account: add a second parent or a friend and switch between them. (If your account checks in on you, it stays just you in this version.)
• The app now tells you plainly when nobody could be alerted about a missed check-in, and why.
• Every emergency contact shows where they really stand: not saved yet, hasn't agreed yet, asked, no reply, couldn't be reached, or declined. Tap "Ask them" to have us text someone who hasn't agreed yet.
• Texts asking a contact or a loved one to agree are now sent and retried by our servers, not from your phone, so a weak signal no longer loses them. We send nobody more than two of these texts.
• Set up with no signal? The app now says "Not set up yet" instead of "All Good", and finishes setting up as soon as you're back online — or tap "Try now".
• One-time note if you're updating: if an emergency contact you added earlier was only ever saved on your phone (there was no connection at the time), this update saves them with us and texts them to ask whether they agree to receive alerts. They reply YES to accept. Contacts we already have saved for you are not texted unless you tap "Ask them".
• Pause and Resume now tell you if the change didn't reach us, instead of saying it worked.
• Tap a recent check-in to open the conversation. Times in History and on the home screen now show in your local time.
• Reliability and stability improvements.

### 1.3.0 — 2026-08-24

This update is about giving you full control and making check-ins dependable wherever life takes you:

• Delete your account anytime — Settings → Delete Account permanently removes your data and stops all check-ins and alerts.
• Check-in times now reliably stay on your local schedule when you travel, even on days you don't open the app.
• If check-ins can't reach someone for a few days, their contacts now get one clear heads-up that check-ins are paused — instead of repeated daily alerts.
• Pause and resume check-ins right from the home screen.
• Reliability and stability improvements.

### 1.2.0 — 2026-07-24

This update makes check-ins feel more like a real conversation — and helps you stay in the
loop on how a loved one is doing over time:

  • Warmer, more natural check-ins that open with a friendly question.
  • A running recap for caregivers — a clear at-a-glance summary of how a loved one has been
over time, built from their check-ins, right on the dashboard.
  • In-app check-ins now use the same friendly companion as voice and text.
  • Your check-in time now follows you across time zones.
  • Reliability and stability improvements.

### 1.1 — 2026-06-19

This update adds new ways to check in and makes the whole experience smoother:

  • Voice check-ins — a friendly AI companion calls for a brief conversation.

  • Text check-ins — answer a few check-in questions right from your messages.

  • Check in on a loved one — set up check-ins for someone you care about, and be notified
  if they miss one.

  • A cleaner check-in log with at-a-glance summaries of each check-in.

  • Pause check-ins anytime, and see multiple daily check-in times in order.

  • Reliability and stability improvements.
