Recurring transactions do not automatically enter as set. Latest update removed appearance features which is difficult for dyslexics like me.  Updates should warn if features will be removed or appearance changed.  I thought the failure to enter recurring transactions would be “fixed” by the update. It wasn’t. I’m going back to a paper ledger because I’m sick of this “bait and switch,” removing previously “free” features to try to force you to upgrade. Do not recommend.

I have been using this simple checkbook for years and years - across both Android and iPhones.  It’s simple and gives you straight checkbook entry / reconcile functionality .  I started trying other checkbook apps because it had been a really long time since this perfect app was updated and I worried it would no longer run on my older iPhone but NO OTGER ALL I TRIED gave me just a simple checkbook.  They were all full of these bells and whistles that I didn’t want.

Now the app has been updated and you can choose to have the bells and whistles, but the app works great and I no longer worry about it not running on my iPhone.  The developer has even made some handy improvements.  Very responsive to feedback.

I just think this I should be the checkbook app that everyone tries. It’s really that good.

Thank you for future proofing this app!! You’re the best!!

IMPORT A CSV RIGHT FROM YOUR EMAIL
Get a statement as a CSV attachment? Just tap it in Mail (or Files) and choose "Copy to Checkbook" — it opens straight into Bank Import, ready to review and add. You can still pick a file from inside the app too (Premium Plus → Bank Import). CSV, OFX, and QIF are all supported.

CHOOSE THE DATE ON A TRANSFER
When you move money between accounts, you can now set the date for the transfer instead of it always being today. The date is applied to both accounts, so everything lines up on the same day.

SEE WHAT'S AVAILABLE NOW
If you post-date a transaction (say a check you'll write next week), your account now also shows an "Available Now" total that leaves out anything dated in the future — so you can see what's actually spendable today at a glance. It only appears when you have upcoming transactions.

MORE RELIABLE ACCOUNT SHARING
• Fixed a problem where using "Force Re-Sync" on both phones could create duplicate transactions. Shared entries now line up to a single copy on each device.
• Existing duplicates from this issue are cleaned up automatically the first time you open the updated app (a safety backup is made first).

BUG FIXES & IMPROVEMENTS
• If an automatic iCloud backup can't complete, Checkbook now tells you why instead of failing silently.
• Various stability and performance improvements.

SEARCH ALL YOUR ACCOUNTS
Tap the new search button on the Accounts screen to search across every account at once. Each match shows the amount and which account it belongs to, and you can tap any result to open it — with the same category, cleared status, and filters as in-account search.

FASTER SHOW/HIDE RECONCILED
Every account now has a quick eye button in the bottom toolbar to show or hide reconciled transactions in a single tap — perfect when you're hunting for a past transaction. No more digging through Settings.

BROWSE A CATEGORY'S TRANSACTIONS
Curious where all your "Utilities" or "Groceries" went? In Settings, open Account Categories or Transaction Categories and tap any category to see every transaction filed under it, across all accounts, with a running total.

SMARTER CATEGORY MEMORY
When you enter a description, Checkbook now fills in the category you last used for that exact description — not a global default, and not a category from a different payee. Each payee remembers its own category.

TRANSFERS WITH CHECK NUMBERS
When creating a transfer, you can now add a check number that's applied to both accounts, so it matches on each side automatically.

MEET RECEIPTHQ — OUR FREE COMPANION APP
Snap, store, and instantly find every receipt with ReceiptHQ, our new companion app. Look for it in Settings under "More apps from the developer," and on a few screens around the app.

MORE RELIABLE ACCOUNT SHARING
• New "Force Re-Sync" option in a shared account (tap the share button) re-sends your transactions and, if anything can't sync, tells you exactly why — handy if a partner's entries aren't showing up.
• Fixed an issue where a shared account could stop updating or disappear from a partner's device after a temporary connection hiccup.
• Re-sharing an account no longer creates a duplicate copy on the other person's device.

BUG FIXES & IMPROVEMENTS
• The bottom toolbar no longer disappears on a fully reconciled account, so Share and Transfer stay available.
• Swiping a transaction no longer deletes it by accident — a fast swipe just reveals the buttons, and deleting now asks you to confirm.
