I would have liked the option of 4 weekly recurring transactions, this option is not there, so I will have to adjust about 6 entries each 4 week period, if that turns out to be annoying or impossible, I have just purchased the app, then I will get another app from elsewhere. Hence only 4 star rating. ### 2/5 — Disappointed *2020-01-21, version 1.2* I ended up buying the first app and couldn’t sync, so I bought this one. “It states no need to buy separate apps do separate devices” I cannot find a way to sync. So unhappy. ### 3/5 — Good Checkbook App - Needs a Facelift *2019-06-25* They need to update the GUI for this app for the iPhone X and newer. Otherwise, a decent app. Been using it as checkbook ledger app for a year or two. If they don’t come out with an update by the end of this year, I’ll have to find a newer app. ### 4/5 — Pretty Decent *2019-06-22* Love the app but I really need to be able to sync between devices. Dropbox is NOT an option for me and may not be for other users...please consider a better syncing option...PLEASE! ### 4/5 — Love the app, but could use a few changes! *2019-03-23* I don’t care for the Dropbox backup! My last reconciliation app was able to do it all in real time! I would prefer that method even if I have to pay for it so that my husband and I can both use the app! Also I am not able to reorganize accounts, so I have to delete and recreate which is frustrating! I like to keep my balances in order of amounts owed. Sometimes I have to move the accounts around to reflect the amounts owed and this app does not allow that! Please fix that! ### 4/5 — I really love this app!!! *2018-08-31* I really love this app it really gives me an advantage and a safe state of mind that i can pre account for future expenses and know exactly how much money i have to work with and be able to allocate for my savings. The only thing this app is lacking that would definitely give it the last star for the 5 stars is the ability to move each item on the list to which ever position we would like them to be at. Every time i edit an entry it instantly goes to the top even if the event happened before any other. It would be easier to organize and cross reference transactions with bank statements. Other than that this app is perfect if you want to keep track of expenses as they happen and a chart to show you where your money is really going to help maybe change certain habits. Absolutely love it and highly recommend it. ### 3/5 — A few updates would make this 5 Star *2017-12-29* I purchased this when I learned the hard way that iReconcile was no longer being supported. It is the best of the multiple apps that I have tried, however I do wish it gave a running balance so that I could use it to rectify my checkbook on a daily basis. I like that it allows me to group accounts into categories of my choosing, but I do wish I could see the current balance and available balances at the same time. ### 3/5 — Problem with recurring payments *2017-12-20* A month ago I would have rated this app a TEN. But something happened in the last week to mess up my recurring payments section. I can’t edit them. I can’t add new. Recurring notes etc are suddenly not posting to the register. Can you please check into this problem? ### 3/5 — I use this app almost daily and some things should be changed. *2017-10-31, version 1.1* It should be easy to backup all your data. The email never lets me send. I loved the old version and lost everything with the iPhone upgrade. Should be able to sync with my husbands phone. The accounts should be with the most recent on top not the bottom. Miss the old version. ### 3/5 — No Transfer *2017-08-12, version 1.1* I love the layout and simplicity of this app, but won't use it because I can't Transfer funds from one account to the other. ### 3/5 — No Import? *2017-03-30, version 1.1* Really like this app. It's simple, like "Balance" was. Had to drop that one, because it wasn't being updated anymore and no longer on iTunes. I was afraid I would lose all my transactions, if I didn't hurry and do something. So, I got this app. The only issue I truly have with this app is that it will not allow .csv or excel transaction import. This is a basic functionality. I have years of business transactions that need to come over to this app. I even cut it back to just 2016/2017 and I'm still entering transactions over. I've only made it to August '16, because I don't have a lot of time per "session", to get all of them entered. I gave up on retroactively entering transactions for my other accounts, it's entirely too time consuming! Starting those from a week before I'm able to even get to those accounts. IMPORT function please!! ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Buyer beware *2026-02-13* No iCloud backup! Requires a manual backup to Dropbox then on another device a restore from backup on Dropbox. It’s very hinder-some if you use multiple devices such as iPhone, iPad, etc. There’s other apps that sync to iCloud automatically that function far better imo! Save your money and look elsewhere. Also no support offered, company email addresses are invalid. ### 1/5 — The Calculations are constantly off *2024-05-08, version 1.2* I’ve been using this app for years to keep track of my income but this past year I’m noticing whenever I enter a deposit the calculation is always off by $0.01. This has been irritating me. ### 1/5 — Can’t sync *2024-01-19* One of the reasons I paid for this app is so my wife and I could both use it. There’s no Sync button. When I try to hit the Contact Us button it doesn’t go anywhere. If I hit the Love It button, that’ll definitely take me to the App Store to rate. But I want us both to be able to use it and can’t get any tech support. What the heck?! ### 1/5 — I wanted it to be good *2019-09-04, version 1.2* Problem is that recurring payments do not occur when scheduled. I have emailed the app several times with no response. As I said I wanted this to be as good as it can be. But random is not what I need for my scheduled payments and transfers. ### 1/5 — Buyer beware - DECEPTIVE ADVERTISING! *2018-10-17, version 1.2* I bought this app back in October 2015. I then exercised my “In-App Purchases” for the following: • $ 2.99 multiple accounts • $ 1.99 Dropbox Support ———- • $4.98 TOTAL I then bought an iPad and downloaded this app and tried to restore my previous purchases. I was then charged $4.99 AGAIN! Why? Because, in the App Store, there are TWO “Checkbook Ledgers” and I downloaded one that already had ALL the upgrades I wanted! When I contacted App Support they agreed that “Checkbook - Ledger” and “Checkbook Ledger” was confusing because the only difference in the title is the hyphen! In other words I WAS CHARGED $4.99 FOR THE HYPHEN! It is true that the Budget feature was on this “new” version but I do not need this feature (I use Personal Capital which shows your budget without having to manually enter your purchases). App Support would NOT refund my $4.99 because they said that “I should have known” which app to “GET.” $4.99 is negligible so I didn’t fight more vigorously. Then I thought “Maybe this new one has a landscape view in the iPad Version.” I was again fooled because the iPad “Checkbook - Ledger” version does NOT have this feature. I contacted the Developer and warned them that, in principle, I would warn others of this deception in a review. This was over a month ago and there is mo response or refund. So - do yourself a favor - if you want a basic “enter your cash or purchase checkbook” which is like the ancient paper version then this app will suffice. For current users if you already have it DO NOT BE FOOLED into downloading the new but the same app because it has NO additional features (like iCloud sync, landscape view, reminders, etc.) Fool me once shame on me - fool me twice shame on you! ### 1/5 — Stand by your product *2018-09-26, version 1.2* I would like to say that this is the worst App I’ve ever purchased or downloaded. I purchased it for $10.00 three days ago. From the start nothing but problems. *The font was too big and the spacing over lapped. *App kept crashing as I was entering information. *It’s hard to get a balance due to the set up of outstanding balance, total balance and total cleared, mathematics. *The button to delete accounts has to be turned off in order to delete accounts. After turn the button off to delete the accounts, by the time you get back to the home page, to delete the account. The button has turned back on and you are still on able to delete the account. *No Face ID option. *When you enter in a transaction and go back to put another transaction in. The one you entered is no longer there. *I’ve writing the developers about the issue and no one has had the courtesy to even reply to the feedback that they ask you to send to them. At this point I just want my money back and try another more well developed, user friendly app. From people that really care about their products. If I could give it zero stars I would. A very unhappy customer, ### 1/5 — Missing the basics *2017-01-05* I just got the app and realized that something very simple - being able to rotate the view with the device (my iPad) should be a basic component. The app only works in portrait, not in landscape. Not so good if you're using a keyboard. Otherwise, it's OK. Update: 1/5/17 The recurring expense feature apparently no longer works. For the past 6 weeks, I've had to manually input the recurring events. Time now to get a new app for my purposes. [and the screen rotation was never fixed] ### 1/5 — No screen rotation?! *2016-02-15* The first thing to confront me after purchasing this was the absence of screen rotation. It's stuck in Portrait view, which means I can't use the iPad case to hold it while I type - I have to hold it in my hand all the time. So I need to hold it in one hand, hold the document I'm entering (receipt, charge slip, etc.) in the other - and enter the information with my third hand? VERY, very disappointing. ### 1/5 — Bad Business Practices *2015-09-22, version 1.0* I am a long time user of the paid version of this app. With the release of ios9 it appears that the previous version is no longer supported and this new 1.0 version needs to be purchased AGAIN. ### 2/5 — Works until it doesn't *2025-01-08* Many months the automatic transactions fail to apply to the accounts. It's also often off by $.01. It appears so have some kind of error leaving itself inaccurate. Thanks ### 5/5 — Necessary *2019-11-24* This looks somewhat bad on the iPhone XS MAX as it doesn’t fill the screen quite right, but I still rate this 5 stars because I have tried a few checkbook apps over the years and this is the one I rely on daily. My credit union’s app doesn’t update transactions in perfect real time, so I use a ledger app like this one. One truly helpful feature is that once you put in the name of a payee, it will populate a small menu with payee’s names that start with that letter so you can speed up the process. The workflow of this app is just so good, and after using it a short while, you’ll be able to zip in and out of this app smoothly and quickly, it is truly efficient. I just hope it gets an update soon for modern MAX size devices, and it really truly needs a dark mode to go with the rest of the iPhone’s dark UI. Thanks! ### 5/5 — Very smart app *2018-08-17* I really love this app. I mean it’s simple; sometimes I wish it was more elegant in looks. But it gets the job done. All I was really looking for was just something to replace my paper checkbook ledger; a place to record my transactions so I could know my balance at all times. The surprising part is that I also get to assign a category to my spending (and I can make my own categories by changing an existing one) and at the end of each week or month I can view a chart showing where all my money went (food, gas, etc.) Another thing worth mentioning is that if you go to Walmart, and you write one check for both groceries and household supplies, you can record the total amount as “WalMart” and then go in and say that part of that amount was for household and the rest was for food, and that way your chart is still accurate as to where your money went! ### 5/5 — I love this App *2018-07-09* App is easy to use and you can make it as detailed as you want. Helping pushing me more into a paper free world. I love the graphs and pie charts that shows where my money is going. ### 5/5 — Round 2... *2018-01-18* Let me start by saying that while I have found a couple flaws with the app, I stand by my 5-Star rating. If you change the name of an existing account, you will have problems. It will start you with a random balance, and I ended up losing all of my data. This was partially my fault as I hadn’t backed up to Dropbox in almost a year. That being said, it would be nice to have automatic backups scheduled. I use this app more than any other, daily, weekly, etc. Very simple, clean, and exports a nice spreadsheet if need be. ### 5/5 — Perfect App *2018-01-14, version 1.2* This is the perfect app for me.
