Will not connect to WiFi even if you manually enter information. Part of the reason for purchase was to be able to start the machine from remote locations. This definitely stifles the function abilities. And it seems like it has well over a year since last update. ### 2/5 — WiFi never connects *2020-09-22* It cooks great, connects through Bluetooth, connected once through WiFi and then never again! The app obviously needs an update, it should simply share WiFi info from your phone, but I guess that would be too easy ### 2/5 — It burns my IPhone *2020-08-02, version 2.0.10* I don’t now why, but when I use that app, my IPhone 11pro becomes too hot. My sous vide connected by Bluetooth ### 2/5 — App ok... but timer doesn’t work on WIFI *2020-01-02* I wrote another review and since it’s not here anymore for some reason, I’m writing another. Yes, the app controls the unit. But for some reason it has never worked right if the unit is connected WIFI. The timer doesn’t count down at all in the app if the unit is connected WIFI. It does on the unit itself and it will in the app of connected Bluetooth, but not WIFI. Something so simple as a timer should easily be syncable over WIFI. It defeats the purpose of connecting WIFI if you lose any functionality. I hope they finally fix it soon. ### 2/5 — Won’t connect to WiFi *2019-01-30* Running latest IOS. Got latest update for APP. Cannot get Chefman to connect to WiFi at all. Tried all the tips in the app. I believe the fact that you can’t actually choose a network and have to type it in tells me there is a software issue in the units firmware. Connecting the device to wi-fi is not as easy as it should be. In hindsight I should have just bought a model that doesn’t connect to my phone for less money. Before this problem started I was able to view all the recipes but you can’t view them while the Sous vide is running or preheating. The machine resets to the time and temp of the recipe your viewing regardless of where it was previously set. **Developer response:** Hi Ken Wind, Sorry you had to experience that. It won’t connect after I did a software update. Now it burns through my iPhone 14 battery and gets the phone as HOT as if I left it in the SUN!! SOMETHING IS TERRIBLY WRONG!! ### 1/5 — Burns battery for no reason *2024-12-12* This all has a serious problem. Have it open on your iPhone and it will deplete the battery very quickly. So fast in fact, that the phone gets hot. Can’t believe they haven’t fixed it. That’s first thing customer support asks. I’ve reset it a number of times, per their instructions and I still cannot control or monitor remotely. The device cooks amazingly but if I cannot connect remotely, as advertised, I could have saved my money on their cheaper model without WiFi and Bluetooth. The app is useless but then it is free. **Developer response:** Hello FrustratedinOC2, Please make sure you're using the latest version of the app. Also, only try to connect to your unit via the app and not via your phone bluetooth settings. I had fresh chicken breasts. I used some teriyaki marinade. Everything turned on and linked right up to my phone and went back to work. I monitored everything from my phone. Even when the timer expired I wanted it to stay warm till I got home. So I turned it back on. When I got home we finished the sides and then put the chicken in a skillet and quickly browned both sides pouring the sauce back over the plated chicken. It was the most tender and juiciest chicken I’ve ever had. Can’t wait to use it more often. Especially after ordering a steak this last weekend at a steak place. It works well but the Wi-Fi never connects and the Bluetooth is short lived. WPA2-PSK supports passwords up to 63 characters? 20 characters seems like a totally arbitrary limit that doesn’t even fit the technology’s spec. Overall fine app, but seems like y’all need to workout a lot of issues with WiFi based on these reviews.
