I haven’t used it in 4 days and forced closed all apps daily and it used 35% of my battery in the background. 0% was used on screen. I have noticed that since installing this app a month ago that my phone hasn’t made it to the end of the day without entering power save mode. Usually I would be at 50% battery after a 16 hour day. Not any more. While typing this I’m at 3% and I have screenshots if the developers would like to take a look in to this. Other than phone drain I love the app and the device and what it can do for me. However, I am totally blind. The customer service rep could not tell me if this app had been tested with a product called on an iPhone. I find that disturbing. I do not like buying products, only to return them because they don’t work or worse yet, I have to negotiate with the company to get the app to work with voiceover. That is a technical violation Americans With Disabilities Act and Web Accessibility guidelines. I’m also concerned because the Customer Service rep did not know that. It may not have been his fault. However, what else doesn’t he know if somebody needs to troubleshoot this app or product? ### 2/5 — Worst Product Ever *2025-05-03* Has to be the worst device I ever bought. Constantly has connectivity issues, battery (if it even connects) doesn’t last but a few hours. The probe temp plus is cumbersome and the probes are awful. Hate that I wasted $150 on this. ### 3/5 — Middling… *2025-05-01, version 1.4.6* No support for Dynamic Island or live activities. Works through back-end server rather than a direct connection to the phone, with repeated timing out of connections, before reconnecting. Otherwise, okay. ### 5/5 — Great addition to your bbq/smoker *2024-11-29* I backed the ProTemp Plus when it first launched, and it's been fantastic! Like any product, there have been some bumps along the way, but ChefTemp has been incredibly responsive to issue reports and has done a great job fixing them. The best part about this unit is how well it connects to my Wi-Fi. I no longer have to leave my phone by the window for alerts and alarms. The base unit and probes hold their charge very well, and the entire setup is sturdy and well-made. ### 5/5 — The updated app and the S1 *2024-11-20* What a great app. I can run my Breezo, get my ambient and internal temperature, I can graph my cooks, look at my cook history, see the temperature in graph form as well has having alarms and alerts for my cook. It runs both the new ChefsTemp S1 and the ProTemp Plus and allows me to switch between them with a simple swipe. Terrible product that just doesn’t work ### 1/5 — Uses a lot of battery *2026-05-12, version 1.6.1* This app has started using a lot of battery when not in use - wasn’t an issue on prior versions. Also doesn’t offer firmware updates for s1 base or probes so a lot of issues with them simply never get fixed. ### 1/5 — Latest update killed it *2026-04-06, version 1.5.9* Bluetooth no longer working. Did the update and - First part of cook noticed the lack of beeping thank goodness. Than randomly lost connection, moved hub closer to bbq and the beep was back! Still lose all info at end of cook, estimated cook fluctuates even with constant temperature and sometimes doesn’t offer a remaining time for the cook . The app still has multiple issues and isn’t smooth or even user friendly. The Bluetooth range is poor and is hit and miss. Customers care is non existent, emailed twice with zero response after asking questions and raising concerns. Poor commitment to kickstarter fundraisers Currently very disappointed and wouldn’t recommend. Now the external temperature reading is incorrect of broken. In a 170c oven it’s reading an ambient temperature of 108c. I want my money back, it’s useless ### 1/5 — Half baked *2024-01-23, version 1.2.1* This app feels half baked and lacks quality. The sign in page doesn’t support password managers, errors aren’t handled (such as Bluetooth searching endlessly without timeout). There’s a strange email verification code sent before you’re even able to create an account and the keyboard entry for this is alphanumeric despite it being a numeric pin. This makes me question whether it’s a native app written with care or somebodies first experiment into iOS apps. Half of the buttons take you to web views but if you’re lucky enough to get taken to an app view, if there’s nothing in the list, the whole page is empty - no feedback to suggest a list is even meant to appear or what the page is for. Considering the hardware and packaging quality of the ChefsTemp ProTemp Plus I backed the other year, the app is very disappointing. ### 1/5 — Not working *2023-07-18, version 1.0.3* App opens up to a white screen and just stays there. ## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated) ### 5/5 — pretty good app for bbq *2026-04-17* Overall it works grate with my ProTemp probes. Setup was easy but the bluetooth took a sec to find the base. I love that I can see the temp graph on my iphone while im inside the house watching the game. App crashed once when I tried to change the meat type mid cook but usually its fine. Wish the alarm sound was a bit louder tho. ### 5/5 — Great present *2026-04-10* Bought this for my husband since hes the 'grill master' of the house. He loves the big screen because he can actually see it without his glasses outside. It feels really sturdy too, not like a toy. It arrived pretty fast even though the box had a little dent in the corner but the tool itself was perfect. This consolidates it into one ecosystem, one app. It’s just awesome! Btw their support is GREAT! I accidentally ordered the standard base. Not only has it given me precise control of temps, but it has given me the automation and simplicity of a pellet smoker with the flavor of an offset. No more sleepless nights manning the offset or wondering if the auger was jammed on the pellet. Precise and consistent control, all with no wires!!!
