## What is Chekhov?

Most productivity apps are built for today's to-do list. Chekhov is built for the long game — the book you're writing, the degree you're finishing, the business you're building. It connects your daily effort to your biggest ambitions, so you can see your progress adding up and keep going.

PLAN BIG, WORK SMALL
• Organise your ambitions into projects, broken into phases and tasks
• Add subtasks and tags to keep even sprawling projects manageable
• A "Today" view surfaces just what needs your attention right now

BUILD HABITS THAT STICK
• Track habits on the cadence that fits — daily, weekly, monthly, and more
• Three ways to complete: a simple check-off, a quantity (pages written, kilometres run), or time spent
• Streaks, totals, and a 90-day history grid show your consistency at a glance

LOG THE WORK, SEE THE PROGRESS
• Time-track work sessions and link them to your projects
• Record custom units of progress — words drafted, problems solved, whatever you're measuring
• Keep journal-style notes attached to each project, so context never gets lost

STAY FOCUSED
• A built-in Pomodoro timer structures your work into focused sessions
• Start a session from anywhere and get notified when it's time to break

KNOW WHERE YOU STAND
• Get assessments for your tasks, projects, and habits — and advice on what deserves attention next
• Productivity scores and stats turn scattered effort into a clear picture

MADE FOR IPHONE AND IPAD
• A layout that adapts from phone to iPad, including split view and multitasking
• Your data syncs across devices, so you can plan at your desk and check off on the go

Five-year plans fail one ordinary day at a time. Chekhov makes the ordinary days count.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.0.8 — 2026-10-11

What's New in 1.0.8

- The Habits page now has two tabs, Habits and Project habits, each grouped by priority.
- Your habit score, time totals and Bulletin on the Habits page now count only habits that aren't part of a project.
- The Projects page now shows your project habits' score, time, catch-up and Bulletin.
- A project whose habits are past their target now says so under its name on the Projects page.
- A completed project's habits now count only up to the day you completed it.

### 1.0.7 — 2026-10-10

What's New in 1.0.7

- Projects past their due date are now marked Overdue, in the Projects list and at the top of the project's page, with a button to move the due date.
- You can now change the tracking period by tapping it at the top of the Dashboard, Projects or Habits screen, including a custom number of days. A habit's page lets you change it from its "Your stats over…" line.
- The Projects page now has numbered sections, like the Habits page, and shows a suggested project to focus on in place of the overall completion score.
- A finished task with no time tracked now shows its estimate, rather than claiming it came in under it.

### 1.0.6 — 2026-10-07

What's New in 1.0.6

- Chekhov now stops you from saving session habits that would need 24 hours or more a day. When you add or edit a habit, or change a project's dates, you'll see the most time per day it can be given.
- When your session habits add up to more than 8 or 16 hours a day, a note under the time field says how demanding that is. You can still save.
- The Bulletin on the Habits page now says when your session habits ask for a challenging amount of time each day, and suggests which habit to cut back and by how much.
- Project habits and non-project habits are totalled separately, because one session can count toward both.

### 1.0.5 — 2026-10-03

What's New in 1.0.5

- Habits now show when you've done more than the target. A habit over its target reads "100%+" and says how far over you are, such as "1h 40m over target", on the Habits screen and on the habit's own screen.
- The Bulletin on the Habits screen now lists habits that are over target and names the habit that's furthest behind, so you can see where that time could go instead.

### 1.0.4 — 2026-09-28

What's New in 1.0.4

- You can now mark a project as complete from its menu. It gets a "Completed" stamp with the date you finished it.
- Completed projects have their own section on the Projects page, most recent first. Any tasks you left open are hidden along with them.
- If you completed a project by mistake, you can reopen it, or tap its stamp to change the completion date.
- There's a new "Rate Chekhov" option under Settings → Help.
