## What is ChemLens?

ChemLens turns your camera into a chemistry lens. Point it at any everyday object — a wooden chair, a plastic bottle, a glass cup, a metal coin — and ChemLens identifies what it  is and shows you the materials, elements, and environmental footprint behind it.

Curious students, science teachers, and anyone who loves learning will find ChemLens a friendly way to connect the chemistry they study with the objects they touch every day.    

  WHAT YOU GET FROM EACH SCAN
  • Object identification — name, category, and a one-line composition summary
  • Chemical composition — the main constituents and their estimated percentages, shown as a clean bar chart
  • Elemental breakdown — the key chemical elements (O, Si, C, Fe, S, and more) with short, plain-language notes
  • Environmental impact — rough carbon footprint, water use, and recyclability estimates
  • Material origins — where these materials typically come from and a bit of history
  • Suggested reading — curated links (mostly Wikipedia) so you can dive deeper into anything that catches your interest

  ChemLens is a learning tool, not a chemical analyzer. Every result is the AI's educated guess from a single photo — useful for sparking curiosity and reinforcing classroom  topics, but not a substitute for lab analysis, safety information, or medical advice. The model is told to be conservative, and we always show you the source disclaimer.
