### 1/5 — Do not use this app even if it’s mandatory

*2023-08-02*

Was forced to used this during Bite of Seattle. There are so many things wrong with this app that I don’t even know where to begin.
- In order to get your order processed you have to wait in a line, which defeats the purpose of online ordering
- One of the vendors ran out of an item that I already paid (and waited) for and told me that I had to go to a “customer support” booth to get a refund
- Customer support did nothing except tell me that they would get back to me later (they never did)
- Completely inaccessible for those without a phone (and risky for those with low battery such as in my case)

If there’s an event that requires you to use this app, don’t even bother ordering anything.

### 1/5 — This App is Ruining Events

*2023-08-01, version 2.1.3*

The app's UI is abysmal, but the app is pointless to begin with. This company is ruining events by forcing people to use their terrible app, and preventing vendors from accepting cash or card, which should be illegal. It's gatekeeping events from people without smartphones, selling the data of everyone forced to use it, and taking a cut of vendor sale, and making lines longer than ever.

### 1/5 — Bite of Seattle Fiasco

*2023-08-01, version 2.1.3*

As a co-owner of a dessert business. My family and I were very excited to participate in the bite of Seattle as a vendor. We are native Seattleites and spent many years attending as guests. I want to first say thank you to all of the attendees and customers. You were incredible and we appreciate your business. Cheq however is a different story. Between the smug, condescending, and rude behavior of the CPO Aniket Naravanekar during initial demo, weeks before the bite. He refused to acknowledge the concerns of the vendors, all of which came true. The outages that occurred without any notification or explanation from Cheq, our own sign being misprinted and then taken away to not be fixed for 11 hours. Closing of our shop on the app 30 minutes early on Friday without any warning to vendors or attendees. And lastly, the fact that every vendor had to spend time training attendees on how to properly use the app, taking time away from prep, service, and most importantly the attendees overall experience. Cheq owes an explanation and apology to every small business that was present as a vendor at the bite of Seattle (the country’s largest food festival).

### 1/5 — How to ruin the bite of Seattle

*2023-07-31, version 2.1.3*

What’s the point of ordering online if you still wait in line? No coordination with the vendors on how to handle the system leads to more friction to ordering and picking up. Toss in network availability issues any you have folks that can’t order not pick up their food. Overall terrible experience.

### 1/5 — Horrible

*2023-07-28, version 2.1.3*

Downloading the app was slow and once downloaded it was difficult to find what you wanted. The service app is horrible.

### 1/5 — Not user friendly

*2023-07-27, version 2.1.2*

There are several flaws with this app. It’s very glitchy and you can search by food unless you know the name of the vendor. I initially thought when I placed the order at the Bite of Seattle, I would receive a notification that my food is ready. Nope you have to wait in line to check in with the vendor and then wait again since they will start making the food at the time of check in. We only ate two things at the Bite of Seattle and decided to go somewhere else after. Even the vendors complained how horrible this system was.

### 1/5 — Not a good experience

*2023-07-26, version 2.1.2*

Had a bad experience at BITE of Seattle and it was mainly because of this app. Won’t be going back next year.

### 1/5 — Horrible

*2023-07-26, version 2.1.2*

I have random charges and nearly impossible to get assistance.

### 1/5 — I can’t wait to delete this app

*2023-07-26, version 2.1.2*

This app is anti-human! No interaction with vendors about their menu, ingredients, their story, etc. Press some buttons and stand in line. I wouldn’t be surprised if next year there are robots handing out the food.
The main topic of conversation with all the other folks at the festival (when they weren’t buried in their phones trying to work this app) was not about all the delicious food, or the fantastic free music, not even the weather (!) - just how annoying and unnecessary this app is.
Attended the Bite of Seattle 2 days, on the second day ended up bringing food from home to avoid further nonsense with this app and enjoy music and conversation w the other humans .

### 1/5 — Gave my friends phones a virus

*2023-07-26, version 2.1.2*

This app is very glitchy and is no help whatsoever. It was a challenge to just click on a menu and was overall an inconvenience. I had two friends that downloaded the app as well and began to have phone malfunctions and soon started seeing signs of a virus. Do not download this app, it’s no use and could possibly leak viruses to your phone and completely ruin the programming.

### 1/5 — Order was LOST on the app

*2023-07-26, version 2.1.2*

Ordered to get some boba tea during the Bite of Seattle event. Ordered through the confusing app and once I ordered, the app terminated itself and when I logged back in the ORDER WAS LOST.

So I basically paid over priced boba and had to wait an hour to talk to the vendor about it just so we didn’t waste the money.

Vendor was nice enough to comp us for the trouble. This App is trash! This was y’all’s shining moment in Seattle and you blew it. Congrats to the devs and management! You played yourselves and us.

### 1/5 — Applying tech where it is not needed

*2023-07-25, version 2.1.2*

The update appears to have reset the rating of this app with the update a few hours ago. It looks as if the company is preparing for a fire sale. What an annoying experience.

### 1/5 — Bite of Seattle Experience

*2023-07-25, version 2.1.1*

Maybe don’t force everyone to use this app for Bite of Seattle.. The experience felt redundant like why would I order on an app, then wait in a line to scan, then wait in another line to get my food. Bring back just paying with cash and credit cards

### 1/5 — Horrendous

*2023-07-25, version 2.1.1*

Absolutely destroyed the BITE festival. Forced customers and vendors to order through this confusing app. No clear instructions for how to scan. Created so many queues and confusion and longer wait times.

### 1/5 — Terrible Design

*2023-07-25, version 2.1.1*

This app requires you to order and pay in the app (normal, all good), then get into a line to scan your order (?) which then can take any amount of time to come out.

Why the middle step? To be different, maybe, but logistically it was a terrible ordering experience and it caused many backups at food vendors I wanted to try.

You can skip this app unless it’s mandatory for your event. In that case, might recommend skipping the event.

### 1/5 — Apple Pay with more steps

*2023-07-25, version 2.1.1*

It’s Apple Pay with more steps and a terrible user interface. “Favorite” part: they had a community page for people to chat through the app. Lol just take my money, give me food, and let me enjoy the festival.

### 1/5 — “Skip the line”

*2023-07-25, version 2.1.1*

This app offers no line skipping. One might think that the user would 1) order and pay on app 2) receive notification that food is ready 3) pick up your food. This is how all online ordering systems work. Instead you get to 1) order 2) revive a notification that you are now able to “check in” 3) stand in line to check in with vendor 4) once checked in your order starts 5) wait in line to pick up your food. However, this is provided that the app actually works… Payments fell through, orders were lost, time was wasted. I will never attend an event where this app is mandatory. I deleted it the moment I got home.

### 1/5 — Bad

*2023-07-25*

Please sell Bite of Seattle to people with brains.

### 1/5 — Awful app, not solving any actual problem

*2023-07-25, version 2.1.1*

UPDATE: the devs are resetting their app rating after the disastrous Bite of Seattle debacle. Real class act, folks.

App is slow, crashes, is completely inaccessible, and worst of all: doesn’t solve a real problem! No one is complaining about using a credit card or Apple Pay to buy food at a venue. The number of steps required to use this app to order is preposterous, and I haven’t met a single vendor here in Seattle that doesn’t hate it. But since they’re sponsoring our event, we HAVE to use it. Thanks, CHEQ, for ruining the Bite of Seattle.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Mr. Miami

*2023-10-28, version 3.0.2*

This app can’t even allow you to do what it was created for. Gifting process is horrible. You guys need to be shut down because this is a fraud of an app!!! I never review apps but do not waste your time downloading.

### 1/5 — Terrible App

*2023-08-16, version 3.0*

Couldn’t even get it to recognize my location at the ballpark to even try the ordering process.

Don’t waste your time with it!!!

### 1/5 — Miami

*2023-08-12, version 3.0*

I don’t think I’ve ever rated an app but had to express how trash this one is. Holy moly. Waste of time for Miami users.

### 1/5 — Bad

*2023-08-07, version 3.0*

App didn’t work when we needed it the most. Terrible experience at bite of Seattle.

### 1/5 — Abysmal

*2023-08-04, version 3.0*

The CHEQ app acted as an obstacle between the myself and the vendors. I will not go to an event that uses this, or similar, app.

### 1/5 — Terrible experience

*2023-08-04, version 3.0*

This app made the bites of Seattle absolutely terrible. There was no inability to cancel order so if the food truck ran out of what you paid for, you were out of luck. Little to zero help from the app workers to facilitate people on site. Just another poor example of a software company trying to do way too much.

### 1/5 — This is the result of when your mom..

*2023-08-03, version 3.0*

Tells you not to do something for your own good, but you do it anyways.
Technology isn’t always the answer, maybe for a tech convention🤣 not a food/old school vendor s event

### 1/5 — Please get rid of this app and this company’s CEO

*2023-08-02, version 3.0*

First of all, if you go through the 4 or 5 stars review of this app, those comments do not make any sense. They’re either fake or were written by their own developers. This should already explain a lot of how this company works.
This app is a prime example of something that is good on paper, but not in real world. Before going to the bite of Seattle, I saw all of those influencers were saying all the good stuffs about the app and how easy it was to order and pick up the food, I was excited. Obviously, they must get paid to lie about that.

Here are what wrong with the app. First, you must give your private info. By default, the app would share your location (which vendor you’re purchasing) whenever you make purchase. Everyone can see your first name and what you’re buying. You must disable that manually, but if you just download the app, I bet anyone even knows that feature exists. Secondly, once you make a purchase, they will charge your credit card immediately. This is even before checking-in or waiting for the food. There’s no universal system on how each vendor does the check-in or hand out food.

At one vendor when I was ordering hotdog, no one waited in line. They just stood all over the place. So I just went ahead and check-in. Then, the seller would call out the name of the buyer. I was waiting for half an hour until I decided to ask the vendor for my order. Turns out, someone had already took my hotdog.

Another incidence is when I already placed my order and when I went to pick it up, they said it was already sold out. She asked me to pick something else because it’s hard to do refund. That vendor is full of old folks. They apologized for not knowing how refund worked. The app already charged my credit card. I lost 10 bucks because I was able to purchase items on the app while it was already sold out.

I could go on and on of how bad this system. I can’t believe how this company ruins Bite of Seattle like this. I hope next year, they will get rid of this app. Please allows credit card. We just want food without having to stress out about my phone battery, internet data and what line is this “check-in line or pick up line”. What’s worse is how they charge the card immediately after placing the order. At least wait after we check-in. The part where the vendor doesn’t even know how to refund is just crazy. Did this company even give them training on how this system works? I feel bad for the vendors especially those old folks I encountered.
The CEO of this company still needs a lot to learn. Please listen to the public.

### 1/5 — Awful

*2023-08-02, version 3.0*

Just another tech company stealing your personal data and making money off processing fees. Perhaps everyone at this company can get an ethical job instead of fixing a problem that never needed to be fixed.

### 1/5 — If CHEQ sponsors

*2023-08-02, version 3.0*

sponsors bite of Seattle again, won’t go back. Gave one star bc I can’t give zero. Have to use app to purchase anything. Find food on app. Purchase through app. Stand in line to check in at food stand. Then stand in another line to scan card. Then stand to side to wait for food. Basically 4 different lines to purchase food.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Bite of Seattle

*2023-07-24, version 2.1*

It took some getting used to, but after my first purchase it made things really simple and efficient to order. I’ve used CHEQ at T-Mobile Park and it’s fantastic!

### 5/5 — Like!

*2023-07-23*

I don’t know why people are complaining about the cheq app. My friends and I really liked using it. It saved us like an hour today.

We went to more than five food trucks. Normally we would’ve waited at least 10 minutes in each just to order the food. this time we only waited to pick up the food which was fast in most places. I really would love to see chew succeed. I gate waiting in lines.

As for the prices, I agree. It was expensive. But man, have you dined out recently? Inflation has hit seattle so much last couple years!

### 5/5 — Makes ordering way too easy!

*2023-06-28*

This app allows me to be engaged in the event without having to waste time in long lines. I love being able to order from anywhere!

### 5/5 — Great idea and user-friendly!

*2023-06-28*

Love the concept and how easy it is to send my friends and family gifts at cool venues around Miami! Can’t wait to see them expand to more venues in Miami and other markets!

### 5/5 — Extremely convenient

*2022-08-24, version 2.0.0*

CHEQ is a great way to pay and skip lines at stadiums. Easy to use 10/10

### 5/5 — The Future is clear!

*2021-07-29, version 1.3.4.1*

This is it! This is what the future will be like! Ease of ordering and paying without having to use cash or card! All directly through your mobile device.

### 5/5 — WHY wouldn’t YOU use this app?

*2021-04-22, version 1.3.1*

?

### 4/5 — Awesome App

*2023-07-29, version 2.1.3*

made my life easier.

### 3/5 — real letdown

*2023-07-22*

they claimed it would reduce lines but the reality is it forces a purchase from you before you can even wait in line and then support is non existent. purchased and then didn’t want to wait in a 2 hour line so paid for food I never got. yay!

### 2/5 — Whatever you do, don’t support this company

*2023-07-25, version 2.1.1*

This app seeks to make events more cumbersome and less convenient while robbing vendors of their hard earned money.

They force you to use the app to order any food, and instead of using that to decrease wait times or make things more convenient they made wait times worse and less convenient and glitchy.
