I would only like a feature that allows me to start study from a later position in game by importing starting at e.g. move 17. Would have emailed this privately but could not find email. Would be happy to change review to 5 stars. **Developer response:** Thank you for your feedback! You can start training from a specific position today! Open your opening, jump to the desired move, and start training from the current position. You can train one specific line or multiple variations from the chosen position. PGN import does not accept partial openings currently. Imported openings must have all moves. For those who wish to practice their openings during a break, or quickly before a match will find this app very helpful. Back up your repertoire, because if lost, they are not stored in the cloud to be recovered. My only issue with the app is that when I try to import chess.com games I get an “invalid PGN” error. I’ve even tried removing the event data and just having the moves and I still receive the same error. Edit: Thank you to the developers for responding. Removing the brackets has fixed my issue! After reviewing chess.com games, they seem to use a non-standard format for the game results at the end of the PGN. As a workaround, try to change the last comment to the actual result, for example {1-0} -> 1-0. We will make it more robust in the next version. Useless **Developer response:** Add new positions to your repertoire first. The opening trainer trains positions from the repertoire only. You can use the built-in opening tree or ECO or import a PGN with unlimited depth. Kann jetzt knapp 500 Eröffnungsvarianten und hab seit ich die App habe knapp 400 Elo dazu gewonnen. Gebe idr kein Geld für Apps aus, aber die Einmalzahlung für so viele Stunden war’s wert. Was ich mir noch wünschen würde: Mehrere Ordner zum gleichzeitig Üben wählen zu können, sodass ich aus dem einen Ordner Eröffnungen für Weiß und aus dem Anderen für Schwarz wählen kann, statt immer hin und her wechseln, oder alle Eröffnungen mit beiden Farben lernen zu müssen. Das würde das Lernen nochmal deutlich angenehmer gestalten. Weitere Ideen: Die Option zwischen Figuren normal sichtbar, als Dame Steine sichtbar (also nur Ort und Farbe, aber nicht welche Figur erkennbar) und keine Figur sichtbar hin und her schalten können (dann müsste natürlich der letzte Zug immer angezeigt werden, dies wäre wo derzeit zB “black to move” steht möglich). So ließe sich mit der App auch blind spielen üben, was wirklich schön wäre. Fazit: Top App, lohnt sich. Bitte ermöglicht mehrere Ordner gleichzeitig zu üben, während nach Ordnern separat die Farbe gewählt werden kann und absolut Hammer wäre es wenn ihr “blind” üben ermöglicht. ### 5/5 — Great app *2025-01-23* My favorite opening trainer! ### 5/5 — What I am looking for *2024-11-26* I have many options on PC for viewing databases and the opening tree of how often moves are played in a certain position. I have explored several apps for iPhone and iPad and none of them even come close to what I want. But this app really does it. It’s very close to chessx or scid on PC. Ich lade die PGN Dateien aus meinen Eröffnungskursen hoch, die App erkennt automatisch die Varianten und Kommentare. Ich kann die ungewünschten Varianten vom Import ausschließen. Beim Training gibt die App nach mehreren Fehlversuchen einen Tipp. Einfach und genial. Man kann ganz einfach eine PGN Datei mit den Varianten die man trainieren möchte laden und dann auswählen welche davon trainiert werden sollen. Man kann also schlechte Varianten für das Training ausschließen. Auf diese Weise können auch mehrere Repertoires angelegt und verwaltet werden.
