## What is Chess Professor?

Chess Professor is a friendly chess coach that teaches you while you play. Make a move, and the Professor tells you in plain English what it did, what to watch for, and what to try next. No jargon, no pressure, no account, and no ads.

PLAY AT YOUR OWN LEVEL
Pick an opponent that fits you, from a gentle Beginner who makes friendly mistakes to Challenger, our toughest. The app even suggests when you look ready to move up. Prefer a person? Pass-and-play lets two people share one device, which works especially well on iPad.

A COACH IN YOUR POCKET
• Tap the graduation cap to hear what just happened and why it matters.
• Ask for a hint when you're stuck. It nudges you toward a good idea without giving it all away.
• See each move explained, with chess notation made simple by a built-in guide.
• Choose how much help you want, from guided learning to silent play.

LEARN STEP BY STEP
Start with meeting the pieces and how each one moves, then build up through opening principles, winning tactics like forks and pins, checkmate patterns, and basic endgames. Short lessons with a board you can try right away.

TRAIN WITH PUZZLES
Fresh puzzles from mid-game positions, with hints and a clear explanation of why the winning move works. Pro also turns the mistakes from your own games into practice positions.

SEE YOURSELF IMPROVE
Track your games, accuracy and puzzles over time. Pro adds a strength estimate that is graded against the level you play, a skills breakdown, and a weekly summary, so you can see what is getting better.

MADE FOR EVERYONE
• Several players can share one device, each with their own games and progress.
• Beautiful flat boards in several color themes, including classic tournament colors.
• A 3D board with lit, shadowed pieces.
• Move sounds, haptics, and an optional game clock.
• Works on iPhone and iPad, in light and dark mode.
• Everything stays on your device. Nothing is collected, and it works offline.

Free includes unlimited games against the computer at Beginner and Casual, 10 hints per game, basic coaching, lessons on the pieces, how they move and opening principles, 5 puzzles a day, your last 10 games, and one full game review a week.
