No built-in purchase simple easy. This is the best piece of chess software I have found to date. I wanted a chess app that gave me an endless number of chess puzzles that were essentially tied to my level of play. I didn’t want bells and whistles and confetti and music every time I solved a puzzle. I just want well constructed puzzles, with no silly pictures or elaborate backgrounds, free of bugs and that is what this app delivers. Bravo to the developer. Most excellent. ### 5/5 — Great app, looks to work offline *2025-05-18* Any plan to allow loading custom puzzle sets? ### 4/5 — Very buggy *2025-03-24* It’s very buggy - sometimes the undo button just goes away, tapping to select a piece stops working so you have to hold and drag, analysis breaks, viewing history doesn’t work, etc etc. That said. If anything completely breaks the app, closing it and restarting fixes the problem. Most importantly, you get puzzles. And lots of them. All different kinds. Opening, mid game, and endgame. Mate puzzles. Mate evading puzzles. Trapping pieces. Winning material. Sacrifices. The list goes on. ### 4/5 — Good but can’t log in *2025-01-02* I’d been using the app for several weeks and it was updating my ELO score. Then I noticed that it reverted to ELO of zero and was giving me very low level (easy) puzzles. I tried to log out and back in again but the app just hangs after pressing “log in”. Feel free to reach out to me at chesspuzzlesapp@gmail.com so we can figure out how to make the app better. ### 5/5 — Excellent app! *2024-10-01* Perfect chess puzzle app, it’s 100% free, no ads, no in-app purchases, p2p, p2w etc. There are so far no repeats of puzzles, so got to be a few thousand in there at least, you can select what area(s) you want to train in easily, it’s a simple interface and if you sign in it’ll keep track of your progress and rating and increase the difficulty to keep giving you a challenge. No privacy concerns as the app doesn’t collect any info. Superb app for improvement and training, highly recommend! ### 5/5 — Cool App *2024-09-25* Infinite puzzles at least for the 30 minutes i used the app but now I gotta go back to real life. So sad *2026-08-10* They updated a while back and a bunch of features broke, like rating, then ability to control the strength of puzzles, so you had to start back to mate in ones, but since rating also broke, you just stayed stuck solving the worst puzzles. Then a slight change allowed me to at least control the rating range, but that broke really bad, went haywire and now it just does this scanning thing after opening app, but it continues to do it forever. I haven’t been able to get past opening screen no matter what I do. Sucks, this was the best chess app ever. Now I have to go do scrabble puzzles for mental exercise, uck. **Developer response:** Hey anzeesus, We understand your frustration! First it reset my ELO to 0, but it’s not a public or meaningful ELO anyway so no big deal, time to just do a few puzzles and the app will learn where I’m at again. But then it just totally crashed. ELO back to 0. Doesn’t show me puzzles anymore. Closing and reopening does nothing. ### 2/5 — Chess *2026-07-21* App is excellent when it works but every other time I open the app it resets my ELO to 1000 and the only way to get back is to fully log out and fully log back in and this happens almost every single time I open the app. **Developer response:** Hey Ebert, we are aware of this issue and have a fix in place for the next app update. Feel free to send any more feedback to support@chesspuzzles.io and we'll get back to you as soon as possible. ### 2/5 — Too Buggy *2025-02-04* This app could be really good, but it’s too buggy (on iOS). The View History tab page never loads; just spins forever. So there is no way to navigate back to previous puzzles. Even though I log in the app sometimes just forgets and starts you over from ELO = 0. And twice the Analysis button messed up and forced you to just move to the next puzzle. I’m reluctantly de-installing. ### 3/5 — A little buggy but I love it *2026-05-24* I can't find an app that does this. Nothing but puzzles and different elo's. It's a little buggy though. Sometimes it freezes if I set the elo range at specific numbers. But it is a great practice tool to focus on puzzles and scenarios. ### 3/5 — Good, but could be better. *2024-08-16* I like the clear and simple look, the button layout and the interesting puzzles. The problem is that roughly one in six puzzles freezes. There’s no way of moving the pieces. Very annoying. I’ve emailed the developer, but I’ve received no reply and the problem persists.
