It is so easy for a club player like me to see a good move and just play it. This game teaches me to see the board and the best opportunity there, not just a good one. Plus, it is just plain fun knowing you are playing a real game! Needs work. *2018-06-19* Some of the solutions are just dumb. Mate-in-5 where all your opp is doing is throwing pieces in front of your rook one after the other. Silly. Too many such “puzzles”. Also, for example on puzzle 440. The solution is wrong. Rh3 there is NOT checkmate. For instance Knight blocking rook attack then being taken by Queen for mate instead of just Knight taking Rook and preventing subsequent mate. The issues I have are with the app. 1) It should work in landscape mode. 2) I want to be able to turn off the dots that appear when I select a piece to move. 3) There is a noticeable delay when I make a wrong move and no delay when I make a correct move. Things like counters not adding up after making certain moves. Got to the forth puzzle and had mystery chess pieces popping up (a knight in my case) in the puzzle. Not good when you're trying to get mate in two. ### 3/5 — Good. But. . *2012-11-07* I like it. Having many a chess app this is quite original in the sense that it serves sharpen your attacking play. One critique though, would be in a situation where the opponent made a mistake allowing for the easier check. This is especially so in the '3-moves' check and beyond puzzles. Sometimes the move required to solve the puzzle isn't always the best move. This can be frustrating; playing chess is about out thinking your opponent. ### 3/5 — Problem 18 *2012-10-23, version 2.6* Mostly good, but Problem 18 doesn't make sense. They are organized staring with mate in two, then three, four, and so on. You can skip around as you like and I'm currently at the mate is five section. There's still one mate in four that stumps me though. I love that the computer will play any variation, so you can learn why "your" idea doesn't work. Puzzle hero, another great collection, doesn't do this. I recommend both.
