### 5/5 — No solution — possible bug?

*2023-01-17, version 2.3*

Mate in 3 - Queen pack - AAAAAAAY-OH

The game doesn’t go forward after I exhaust all possible moves on all pieces. I was looking for a solution but now think it was a bug? Hope to hear back from dev on this one

### 5/5 — Just plain fun!!

*2022-11-30, version 2.2*

I love the puzzles and the quirky quotes. Nothing tedious or omnipresent. It’s a lot of fun, even in the middle of the night, when I just can’t sleep.

### 5/5 — Beauty of a game!

*2022-07-23, version 1.11.0*

This is a really fun and great chess game! Thank you for making me think hard!

### 4/5 — Good pattern recognition trainer

*2022-01-26, version 1.9*

Overall it was good for pattern recognition. But I’m sad that I ran out of puzzles after my second day having it :/

Also, I noticed that in some puzzles, not only does the CPU not play the best move, but the puzzle requires the CPU to blunder to solve it. Most examples consist of taking a piece with the king, or moving out of check when the piece that put them in check could have been taken by another piece.

### 5/5 — Good app

### 5/5 — Good even for f2p

*2021-04-29, version 1.9*

There’s lots of good puzzles and it isn’t screaming at you to buy something every other second, keep up the good work

### 4/5 — Good and definitely helpful.

*2021-03-12, version 1.9*

This Chess app has been really good for practicing scenarios and learning how the pieces move without the distraction of playing a full game.

I do wish it explained why certain moves were wrong or less ideal.
The developer seems very responsive to improvement ideas so I will keep watching and playing.

Thank you.

### 4/5 — Great little puzzle game

*2021-03-10, version 1.9*

This is a great little game to pass the time, especially if you’re trying to get better at chess. However it only gets 4 stars from me, half a star because it’s hard to see the dot that shows where you can move behind pieces, and another half a star because the level titled “Write a review if you’d like :)” is the same puzzle as “red hot minute” 😜

For real though, very fun little set of chess puzzles

### 5/5 — Must-get

*2021-03-05, version 1.9*

Phenomenal free puzzles with a good range of difficulties.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Not helpful

*2023-03-31, version 2.3*

I thought it was legit, until they introduced puzzles where I had like 30 queens, or 30 knights, against a single king. Gentlemen/ladies, I’m here for real chess practice, not for some kiddy “domination simulator.” I want to get better at the game, not self-indulge.

### 1/5 — Wrong puzzles

*2022-04-25*

Most of the puzzles are wrong!

### 1/5 — Mr Carl

*2021-03-11, version 1.9*

Took about 6hrs to complete everything

### 1/5 — Almost every sequence involves sacrificing your queen

*2021-03-04, version 1.9*

I love doing chess puzzles but it just gets to the point where I’m looking to branch out and try to improve my chess vision and all is see are repetitive queen sacrifices which lead to mates even when other moves are possible. This shows up on almost every mate in 2 and 3. I know this is free but it definitely needs some updating and the puzzles need to cause you to think more than giving away a queen.

### 1/5 — No game analysis

*2021-02-21, version 1.9*

The is no help, hints, puzzle breakdown, or even goals for each puzzle. No summery or any text at all. Useless.

### 1/5 — Pretty trash ngl

*2021-02-08, version 1.9*

Has scenarios that will never show up like capturing a lone queen it is not good.

### 3/5 — Deal Breaker

*2024-07-06, version 2.4*

It was great until a full screen as pops up playing loud while I'm trying to be quiet. If you can't work out at least a restriction on the noise I won't use the app.

### 3/5 — Meh

*2023-07-20, version 2.4*

I was hoping for an app dedicated to puzzles. Granted it has puzzles, but it feels more like an introduction to the game rather than an app dedicated to chess problems. I don’t need sections teaching me how to play and I don’t need to be rewarded every time I complete one. You have to back out of the problem you just completed to a screen with the problems for that specific section, and scroll to the next one. There should be “next button” (or something) so I can quietly and efficiently move on to the next puzzle. I feel like I’m beating a dead horse, but I want puzzles I find the positive feedback loop rewarding me for completing a mate in 1 entirely unnecessary.

### 3/5 — Puzzle with no answer

*2021-04-08, version 1.9*

In the ‘Queen Pack’ ‘Dont stop me now’ challenge has no answer other than that it’s fun just a couple bugs here and there

### 4/5 — Great app, would be perfect with one tweak

*2023-03-07, version 2.3*

I just wish the app would let me make the wrong move in the "Mate in #" puzzles, or at least make it an option in the settings. When I'm forced to make the correct moves, it's less of a challenge. Love the app otherwise!

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — I’m a beginner

*2025-07-20, version 2.4*

There are puzzles in this app that are definitely different the the average chess puzzle app in the store. At least the ones I’ve played so far. I’m probably being a bit subtle here. It’s a good thing.

I wish there was a reset puzzle option. I’m one for the problem you’re currently playing and one for the category section. It’d make replaying a puzzle more efficient.

*2024-01-23*

I love chess since I was a child, but as life happens to be so fast, I couldn't manage to play enough chess, no enough time to play, no enough room to think, but puzzles such as this one, with no time waste are instant brain chess shots and I love it!
